Metal Gear Solid V: Gamescom Gameplay Demo

All this talk of Ground Zeroes.. are there any confirmed benefits to getting it to 100% completion? That damned helicopter mission will never be S-Ranked by this lowly chap...

So do we know if Afghanistan, Mother Base and Africa are the confirmed locations in the game? And do we know how big they'll be?

Demo looks great, not been playing much recently and this may get me back into playing.

Those three and
the hospital from TPP trailer
are the only confirmed locations so far. I hope there are more.

I wonder if content from the mother base app will be carried over as originally planned...now that it seems that the new mother base has completely different buildings.

Maybe I thought about it wrong and all that stuff was just tied to Ground Zeroes.

Don't get your hopes up.

only 15 days left, think going to skip the last trailer, I have seen enough of this game want to be surprised a little now

There hasn't been much of anything shown for Africa, right? If Africa is as big or even bigger than Afghanistan we don't need more areas, because damn.

Truthfully we haven't seen much of either region, we've essentially seen 3 or 4 areas in Afghanistan and a section of the jungle in Africa along with the brief clip in the gamescom demo. The game is huge and we've only seen a tiny sliver.

Well even if they are huge, only 2 location is pretty meh, we really need a snowing one.

Not saying there are more than 2, but I don't think a team member would confirm something just because someone asked when they haven't showed anything like that off. Everyone knows Kojima likes to keep surprises as surprises.

True, but we've seen the map (or at least parts of the map) for Afghanistan, which hints to how big it is.

Quantity < Diversity. It can have two open worlds, like The Witcher 3, and still have a hugely diverse range of locations. I'm more worried about miles of samey looking desert and outposts.

I'll agree with you here. I think that part of the reason the game file size is so low is because they are re-using a lot of assets. If you look back at the TGS africa gameplay, the same tree models are repeated over and over again, some inverted. It's obviously not a huge deal and there's nothing wrong with this, you don't really notice it unless you are looking for it -- but I hope that the enemy encampment design is different and interesting and I think it will be. From what little we've seen of Afghanistan it looks pretty barren. I think the somewhat "on-rails" story sections/missions will be the most detailed.

I'm curious to see how they can make the desert interesting, hope they succeeded with it. I can imagine he figured out a way to make it beautiful and interesting.

I'm not sure if it's ever been properly confirmed, but (I might very well be late here) from the pictures of the strategy guide, crawling does indeed have a slow speed now, instead of Ground Zeroes' one speed!

Red dead did a great job, it was fun just hunting wild life and starting wars across the land.

Please don't spoiler tag a basic gameplay function. I thought this was something juicy like a new location.

There was a thread earlier in the year where Troy Baker said its the largest game he has ever seen and called Skyrim an afternoon playpen in comparison to MGSV.

So yea its probably very big :P

That makes me really excited but also really skeptical. I can't imagine a game making Skyrim look like a playpen, but it's Try Baker saying it and he hasn't really given me reason to doubt him before.

He was extremely enthusiastic about the game on Greg Miller's YouTube channel.
Edit: heh, just realised the link you are responding to was just that
