Metal Gear Solid V - PC vs. PS4 screenshot comparison

How does it not look dead? It looks sterile, with no detail, guards are missing, lights that are obviously there do not actually cast a light source.

The PS4 screen looks like an abstraction of a military base. The PC shot looks like a real military base.

Looks worse, yes. Looks dead...you're pushing it.

Yeah I mean we all want to be respectable here and there's no need to call people names. Or use such names ironically and unprovoked to start up shit. It's really sensible that you would offer such advice to someone else in the thread given your upstanding participation in this thread.

Oh wait.

Nice, but not enough to get me to build another $1500 GAF-PC.

Well, the recommended requirements include a 750. A GPU that is frequently <$100.

I would personally wait for the 950 ti or AMD's next offering.

To be fair you see the whole camp only at the beginning, after that the draw distance isn't as much of an issue but of course there still are areas where you can see pretty far.

Or maybe, maybe eh, it's full expected a pc can put in the shame the ps4 hardware that's why 200 page not magically appears.

Or maybe, maybe eh, it's a response to those who have sudden vision impairment syndrome. A vision which previously picked out the minutest of detail between XBone/PS4.

Come on guys there's a difference. If people notice missing grass in GTAV. I'm sure we can all appreciate the extra IQ and light sources.

PS4 owner here who's getting the PS4 version so don't attack me please. I just like MGS and that Kojima is not half assing any platform like other developers do.

Anyone arguing the difference is not easily seen needs help.
Non-native display(1366x766) the difference is night and day

1 year in and PC versions are already starting to show large improvements over the console versions. Should be a fun few years

The fact that it is a year old game, doesnt strike as odd to you right?

I mean a game engine being polished after 1 year of development must be news to you...

Wow those differences are pretty big. I own GZ on PS4, but may just switch to PC completely for the rest of the series if the differences continue to be like this.

Just to say, put the scene in front to a normal player and let's see how incredibly bigger would find the difference from pc to ps4 and minutest the details, between xbone/ps4 in GTA V. Let's see what would happen just to understand what are the users more annoying, if we really need of this kinda of competition.. So not sure what's the point here to feel frustate if the most care more of the console difference than of the pc. The vg mass market follow more the console, it's know from awhile, unfortunately.

The comparison was valid when the Xbox cost more than the PS4. Other than a few outliers, it's usually a given that the PC version will absolutely trounce the console versions...I think people are just please with how well it holds up.

I mean, I don't think it does at all. The PS4 version looks completely lifeless in comparison--I'm glad I have a PC for this stuff. But some seem to be OK with the difference. I don't think the Xbox One has anything to do with this thread, really.

Nah. There's a much bigger difference between the PS4/PC than your average Xbox1/PS4 multiplat. Let's not have this discussion.

I don't think they would have made any significant improvements to the engine, rather just improved the lod, shadow resolution, etc. Something that wasn't possible on the limited and relatively weak console hardware.

Nice improvements, lots more items added (plants, crates, more light sources and stuff), looks a bit empty on PS4.

I prefer the rain splashes (mid-left first pic) on the PS4 shot, but everything else on PC shot(s).

It's really not that noticeable during gameplay. I mean, you can notice LOD pop-in, but the game doesn't feel dead. The locked 60 fps was a good choice.

Agreed. It's not that big of a problem when actually playing, and definitely not worth of halving the framerate.

It is obvious the engine will get better over time, will find new ways to create similar graphical quality whilst performing better, but I think you may be giving into thinking too much into it here.

I assume the graphical differences here are not just related to the engine just getting better, but rather, the fact that PCs scale higher.

I think TPP is going to look much better than GZ on PS4. There will be improvements on PS4 for sure.

I know it. But that's not what I meant in the post.

I am holding on to this post of yours. And when TPP releases and we are able to revisit camp Omega I am going to do a comparison of these pc screenshots here with the PS4 version.

And we will see if console versions are so maxed out in the original GZ release that cant have a better LOD or reflections...

PC always has the best versions, but suggesting even remotely that Konima did all that he could with GZ on consoles when he himself already said that there is a lot of room to spare is just a typical arrogant pc elitist behavior.

The game isnt even among the top looking 50 games on next gen concoles libraries, and this is coming from a huge fan.

So, see you in a few months.

Are those shots taken with a PC that has the reccomended speccs? My sons computer is it that specc range so I assume thats how it would look right?

These screens are considered what on PC? Medium, high, ultra. Why do these comparisons never mention what kind of PC specs are being used? I don't know if my laptop can run this with this look.

You have know way of knowing how much time and effort was put into either the ps4 or pc ports.

You just come off as sounding mad.

Take a look at the recommended specs and compare them with those of your laptop.

Not a lot of laptops have 670 level GPUs though.

Because when you look at PC screens you generally assume that they're the highest setting? Why would you make your game look worse on purpose for marketing? :)

Yes, apart from common developing practices over so many years and games and the fact that Kojima himself has stated multiple times that the game runs with room to spare (http://www.vg247.com/2014/02/13/hid...can-render-1080p-at-60fps-with-room-to-spare/) , surely, I have no argument here.

While everyone else I suppose, is fully fit to bloat about how amazing it looks on PC after 1 year, as if it is unheard of that game engines receive polishing during the course of their development stage... already bits we have seen in TPP demos suggest overall improvements to the engine in comparison with GZ release.
