It's pretty amusing when a fairly long stretch of successful stealth gameplay, not once getting caught while holding up and interrogating every guard you come across, suddenly goes to shit and you're like "fuck it". Bloodbath ensures.

Haha, this is my favorite. I'm glad I'm not a hardcore stealth player and don't really care too much about my ranking. I try to be stealthy as fuck and I end up pulling off some crazy things without being spotted, but if I am spotted.... fuck it, full auto.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I realized that if you throw smoke grenades at a group of guards it stuns them and leaves them choking for air....you can rush in and CQC them to shit.

Some side-ops I have turned into bloodbath. I try to be as stealthy as I can, but with so many options in the game, it feels like a waste to be so strict.

I dislike killing people in this game, I only do it as a last resort. I just checked my stats, 35 hours playtime and only 15 people killed.

Took Quiet on her first trip with me to a base in Afghanistan, got spotted and she straight up butchered the entire base. Like no-nonsense headshotted fucking everybody. Her tranq rifle can't come soon enough, good lord she's crazy.

Build up relationship, you'll get much more control. She's incredible.

Anyone know if the ground zeroes idroid app also works with tpp? I'm not home to test it out, I'm sorry for asking.

Edit: nvm I found a separate companion app exclusively for tpp in the play store

This is my first MGS I'm playing the full way through, and I'm picking up pretty quickly on it.

Getting a lot of A ranks, just making some stupid mistakes that lead to losing a few points here and there.

I try to be stealthy but like someone just said sometimes you're doing the perfect infiltration and out of nowhere the only guard you didn't mark spots you.
It's frustrating. The combat is satisfying. But i have that feeling. "Dude, you're playing it wrong."

Well, i killed a shit ton of enemies, got caught many times. But still got rank B.

I've got Quiet in my Brig at the moment. How do I unlock her as a buddy? Or do I just need to wait like with D-Dog?

This is absolutely my favorite Metal Gear even if it's lacking in cutscenes.

Does S-ranking missions do anything for you other than give you more money? I tend to do a mission once and keep whatever the result is, I might go back to get the people/blueprints I missed eventually. Plus, I like to kill the useless soldiers (D-rank or below) so they wont ever wake up. If I feel generous, I just tell them to lie down instead and hope that I don't trigger any alarms.

It's crazy that I've spent already 20 hours on the game and have done only two story missions, 4% done so far.
I know a lot of people don't like to repeat missions but I feel I'm going to play this until christmas.

Timer keeps accumulating even when you have the game paused. So it might not be an actual 20 hours.

Can someone help me, i dont play ground zeroes for a long time, but i was pretty sure that when you were detected and the reflex mode kicked in, if you pressed l2 it would automaticly aim at your enemy, but in phantom pain that doesnt happen, do i have to activate any option?

I wrote this early but got lost with no reply :S

Yes it does.

This game makes that feel more fun and more right than any other game in the series too. I hate when I'd ever have to pull anything put other than my tranq pistol in all the others barring 4 sometimes. In this one I'm just like "fuck it it's time for you guys to die."

A lot of it I think has to do with how Big Boss is characterized in this one. Like a demon. I dig it. That helped with me doing normal dick shit in GTA5 with Trevor too.

Yeap, if they're right in the middle of it, they'll also get stunned by it.

PS. if you overuse this tho, guards will start wearing masks.

Man I haven't played a MGS game since 3, I only had a ps2 and skipped the ps360 gen. I'm so happy to be back playing this amazing series again, one of these days I'll backtrack and try to play the others when I have more disposable income. Didn't think I'd be changing my #1 game of the gen so soon after The Witcher but The phantom pain easily takes the title.

Just got through the infamous(?) Mission 16.

First part:
Planted all my C4 and D-Mines on the road, sat further down in my box and blew up the first tank. Then popped out and shot the truck driver in the face.
Died shortly after that by
Skulls wrecking my tank.

Second time around
I led them away then snuck up and Fulton'd the truck away. Got in the tank after and took down 1 of em, then used my rocket launcher to take down the rest. FUCK those guys.

A nice tip for just after completing the objective of Mission 16:
Go loot the nearby Airport. FULL of materials, a tape and plenty of soldiers to shop for. Everyone will be unconscious at this point so go nuts. =D

Oh yeah, it's over 30 hours on the timer.

I've been basically just doing free roam, side ops and replaying the first missions, on both PS4 and PC (I still can't decide if I want trophies or graphics, lol).

Not any indication of the game length but it will be a good chunk of activity for me.

Oh wow...I just found out that it's very lucky that my birthday's coming this week, since something happens on mother base on birthdays. Good timing!

lol. did this the long way...
tracked her down and filled her full of pistol tranq darts and then punched the living daylights outta her.

Guys,
you can just shoot her with normal guns, gives you the same choice at the end of the mission.

How do you drop supply boxes on Quiet?

I always miss and if I mark her she me moves

Mark her from far away. Get in cover, request the supply box and then don't exit cover until it's hit her on the head.

Mission 13 and still no sign of that prologue making ANY sense. lol

This is absolutely an awesome Metal Gear game. Every mission I've done has offered new opportunities for stealth, and (at least in Afghanistan) there's often a vertical element to things as well, with a lot of bases in the mountains. Really cool. Just got to Africa and it looks so beautiful, like Snake Eater's dream self on roids.

Running away from Metal Gear was really intimidating. I felt like I was being chased by a giant monster

think i've almost done with the game, i'm at mission
30
and have to
put down skull face and the metal gear
btw i've found an open door in the
medical
base, with a work in progress sign inside, that totally locks like
Paz
any tips?

Two simple questions..

1) The last Metal Gear game I played was MGS 4. I felt the controls were difficult to grasp, so I gave up early. Are the controls different in MGS 5?

2) In relation to question 1, do I need to know a backstory to understand MGS 5?

The controls are radically improved now.

This game only takes place after MGS3 and Peace Walker.

So how do I get an underbarrel grenade launcher on an assault rifle? Can't find it on the tree, missing a couple of ? weapons but they don't look like likely routes.

I've unlocked customisation, it isn't in there either.

I was a bit down on the game after my first day with it, but after my second, I'm much more enthused. Once you hit the sweet spot with base/item development, where you see the result of exponential gains, the game really opens up and seems to work better. Perhaps the early game needed some better tweaking insofar as the economy is concerned?

I'm embarrased by how many times I died driving between the platforms on Mother Base. I'll soon need two hands to count them...

Could anyone tell me how to find specialists after you interrogate someone?

It tells me my map is updated, but I never see an icon or find the person to extract.

The good thing about side ops is that you can do what you want (aside from ofcourse not killing your objectives). Even if you're killed afterwards, you'll just start close to the landing zone with the Side Op finished. Also, you can just pause the game and select Return to ACC which doesn't cost money.

Yeah, I've been doing the side-ops all stealth-like and I don't think it's worth it unless you come across someone worth fultoning. Thanks for the pause tip, didn't know that.

Is the DLC included in the day one edition for Metal Gear Online not working for anyone else? I finally got around to putting the codes in and the single player one worked so do I have to wait for Online to release so the code is active?

Can someone answer my question? Please and thank you.
