So, I just played through the prologue. It was very.....special.

I was under the impression that this was another type of game. Is the entire game filled with flying/burning super villains?

How do I change my emblem?

Mother Base, Customize.

Not filled with them and the majority of enemies are just normal soldiers, but they make up a significant story component. Did you not know MGS was batshit crazy?

Btw guys I forgot to ask

I think I found a radio playing
"Kids in America"
but I couldn't get the tape.
I thought that was strange because whenever i found a radio playing music i could grab the tape but not with this one.Is this a glitch or something or do you get this tape later on in the game?

if anyone knows please tell me!

also I with they added a 'Stand up' option for once you've told a guard to lie down. You can't CQC them when they're lying down and sometimes you want to move them. One of the game's few minor niggles.

You can just kick the guard to knock him out, then you can pick him up and move him. If you need to wake him you can just kick him back awake and hold him up while he's still on the floor.

In case anyone is wondering:

I got both the JP Coll. Ed. and the JP Premium Ed. today. Based on the backside of the packages the CE has english audio and 7 or so different subtitles whereas the JP PE has japanese audio only and japanese AND english subtitles.

The JP PE is HUGE bbtw., here is a comparison shot...

for JP version having English subtitles...it had English text for everything like menu/UI too right? Not just dialogue subtitles?

Mission 12 is the clenchiest stealth mission I've played in a LONG time.

Also thank you Konami, somehow your shit servers affected my SP, I somehow dispatched my team online while error happened and I can only dispatch 1 at a time till the servers get fixed also Idroid is tied to online somehow because going through the menu is no longer instantaneous. >:(

You never played MGS before or what? You're gonna be confused as hell the whole story.

I regret not buying the Japanese PE now. How is the arm in it? I found the 1:2 scale arm to be kinda crappy and mine came scuffed out of the box. Some of the text has been scuffed off. Not worth the AU$250 I paid for it, IMO.

Crazy, yeah, but I am sitting here with Lyme disease and paired with this game it makes me feel like I am on drugs or something.

Now, time to do some riding around, finding Everything, ballooning Everything!

Its pretty sad that the Philippines was left out in the world wide release. Our Bureau of Customs delayed the game alongside Pirate Warriors 3, Mad Max and Danganronpa: AE :(

question about obtaining Quiet:
Can you still extract her if you take her down with DMG weapons instead of STN?

That's brilliant. Thanks!

Are elite guards marked? Like do they stand out, so I'd know?

Ah, sorry. I misspoke when I said Elite. It's only Heavy guards (in bulky metal armour) who aren't afraid of being held up.

Heavy guards are obvious, they're heavy like I said. Big armour.

Elite guards look just like normal guards and are held up normally because they don't have armour. You can tell they're elite by either:
- interrogating other guards (who will say 'we have an elite soldier here'). Elite soldiers will then be marked on your HUD and map. On the map they'll have a little yellow dot next to them.
- scanning them with your upgraded binoculars. Elite and Specialist guards will tend to have D or C grade abilities whereas regular guards will be all E (with maybe one C or D)

But like I said, that's extraneous, Elite guards can still be held up normally.

You can just kick the guard to knock him out, then you can pick him up and move him. If you need to wake him you can just kick him back awake and hold him up while he's still on the floor.

I knew this (I even said to kick him earlier in the post), but the problem is speed. Kicking a guy makes a little noise and then picking him up makes your physical presence large. So if somebody is about to spot a guard lying down, you'll definitely be spotted because you have to kick him then pick him up. If you could just pull him up into a CQC hold and drag him backwards, it would be way safer and more efficient.

Glitch, man. Sometimes you need to find just the right position to stand in to get the Cassette prompt.

Bummer.

Kids in America is my jam.

QUIET SPOILER:
Is it possible to actually execute Quiet after beating her in the ruins?

I'm about 45mins away from R&D'ing her silenced tranq rifle. :D We'll be unstoppable!

I don't know what it is but I get a weird kind of enjoyment stealing cassette's from soldiers. Like, they are listening to music and then it just stops, the tape gone forever and no one knowing where it went.

Soon, tales of the cassette tape bandit spread all across Afghanistan and everyone fears for their mix tape.

Do you give her a rifle from the weapons you have available for big boss?

I have the blue prints for the 2 an 3 star Tranq rifle but not the first one anyone know where to find it?

What are the comparison bars that are shown when highlighting a weapon to develop actually comparing to? The weapons you have equipped or what?

Also is there anyway to get rid of the staff management notification number? I try selecting the new members and such, but it doesn't go away.

You develop her rifles and skins separately, like all the buddies.

"Yo dude, some dickhead named Big Bass or whatever stole our Phil Collins tape!"

God damn this game. I will spoiler tag this post as I'm unsure what is and isn't considered a spoiler and don't want to ruin anything for anyone

That fucking intro was amazing. Is Ishmael dead then? I really wish more games did this whole extended intro thing (Last of Us intro was also excellent). I'm probably on main mission 5? Can't quite remember, but it's around there. I have mostly spent my time on side ops trying to get a hang on the stealth gameplay. I can get decently far into clearing an outpost or base without any alerts, but shit usually breaks loose just before the end and I have to switch to full auto hahaha.

I found DD, but he's just a puppy atm. I also heard Russians speaking of Quiet. I went to the area they mentioned (Power Plant) but I didn't have any luck finding her. Do you find her through a main mission, or am I just not looking hard enough?

bumped for needing to know too?

I'm quite a ways in the game now and I keep getting messages that developing equipment would be faster with FOB but nothing has come up about it yet.

Read in a guide online that you unlock it after mision
21 or 22.

Guys can anyone PM me or spoiler tag how to find D.Dog? Don't wanna miss him

Not really a spoiler but you'll find him really early. It's sort of random but from what I've heard some missions guarantee him to spawn.
For me it was during mission 3 or 4. Miller said something about a dog and I heard a little howl or something. Was quite tricky to spot him though. Some have said that it's easier to spot him if you cigar to nighttime and use nightvision

Played 2 hours and 30 minutes. Best first 2 hours and 30 minutes experience I have ever had playing a videogame.

Some early impressions after about three and a half hours of play:

This is the best video game ever made. Nothing else has ever come close to how good this is.

It's incredible. Everything about it is absolutely perfect.

FUCK ME why are you saying this!?

I wish I could just buy a European ps4 and this game and play it now but I'm traveling and won't be back until October!

;___; this thread is painful to watch.
