Metroid Prime 4: Beyond | Review Thread

His initial introduction and the time you spend with him is very brief. Yes he is cringy, but you yourself decide if you take it with humor or not. After that he becomes much less of an issue as he stays in once place and his language becomes more focused; he then only contacts you rarely if you are close to the area you need to go next, in order to point you in the right direction. I had to return to him once to unlock a new power, and that interaction wasn't anything noteworthy.

I am now in another area where i met a trooper that is pretty cool, focused and the interaction took only a minute or two, he gave me two calls after that which ended after seconds.
Thanks for explaining, so actually like the DF review not a problem.
I'm really gonna enjoy this, can't wait after all this time it's finally here.

No problem, just buy the Amiibo for that!
This shit should be illegal.

Where's the amiibo to make Makenzie shut up?

The gift that keeps on giving.

If you told me a few days ago half of the stuff i read in this thread would be real, i wouldn't believe it.

Such a poor handling of the franchise. Certainly worse than whatever OtherM tried to do. Might be even worse than Federation Force because that one wasn't a "main" game so nobody really cared.

There it is, finally...

It's because of the "trolls" that the game also received 6's and 7's, right ?

Said it before, I'll say it again : You Nintendo fanboys are literally insufferable and the worst fandom in existence compared to MS's, Sony's AND PC combined.
Its always the "trolls" that are - somehow - always at fault, yes sir, 'cause this multi-billion company can apparently do no wrong according to people like you.
A hit dog will holler and yes, not all but many a straight up trolling. Half of the lowest scores were from the same damn publication, all from UK/EU yet judging by some of these posts you'd think the game scored a 60% average everywhere 🙄

So yea, I stand by my previous statement.

Usually I don't let GAF negativity get me down and I'll buy a game regardless.

Luckily for me you're all in here shitting on MP4 so I can enjoy let it die inferno in peace without you all shitting on it. 😆

JK.

I'm gonna wait on this one and dive into other games for a bit. Not like this is coming down in price anytime soon anyway.

Curious what song that amiibo plays in the desert…

Sweet Nintendo shipped my game today. Thank you NOA. Looking forward to this one. I have low expectations but also haven't played a Prime game since 2007 and I like the new stuff I saw a few months back.

So basically he is Atreus, pointing us in the direction we're supposed to go so we don't "get lost" ...in a Metroid game? You're supposed to get lost. The other games would tell you an area to look but you had to do all the figuring out how to get there after that and it was unobtrusive, you only got the hint if you pull up the map ....

Sorry but for the Prime series, which has traditionally scored in the 90s, and given that reviewers tend to over-rate if anything, this is a disaster. Save me the cope.

"In good news, the 4K mode enjoys its own nearly-locked 60fps refresh".

Idgaf about upscaling technicalities. If I'm seeing 4k that's all that matters.
At least post DF tech Review link.

"Our pixel counting suggests the "4K" mode actually delivers a 1440p pixel count", 1440p ll look great in 99.9% of TVs out there, but It still 1440p no matters how much do you want to be 4k.

Dont get me wrong, i m playing on SW1 at 900p and having a blast, game is good and the art direction is beautiful, cant wait to grab my SW2 to play at 1440p too.

Again, I don't care if it's using DLSS to achieve 4k or what the native resolution is.

Good lord, did Nintendo piss in your cornflakes as a child or something?

Are you stupid or something ? I Just said that i m playing the game on a worse version and having a blast, can you even read ?

Also, If you dont care what is the native resolution, why did you came in here bragging about 4k@60fps ?

They put writing like that in games because they know it pisses the "Chud" audience of gamers off and they want said audience to dislike it, it's a huge "you're not welcome" sign.

I personally don't think it ruins the game, but it's really funny Nintendo didn't tell them to tone it down.

Wow, a 5+ year old game dropped $10?!

Can't say, but lets hope so. Because will became a very boring game, impossible to do ng+ with that kinda of dialogue.

WTF are they thinking?
It's truly baffling. I keep telling myself it won't be so bad, and then I see screenshots like that.

Do you find yourself having to do more precise aiming even when utilizing lock on?
lock on ll fuck you when fighting some bosses that have "weak spots" ( tutorial boss ), you have to free aim on those spots to get it.

There is two types of controls, the "hybrid" one that is modern two analogs but it ll give you free aim at lock on ( its really not optimal imo ) and there is the "Wii" that is full motion aim that i hated, imo they should've given us more options like in Prime Remastered.

I was referring to your constant need to shit on Nintendo in every Nintendo related thread..but glad to hear you're actually having fun when not shitting on it 👍

I don't, but it's nice to have the first Technically impressive 1st party Switch 2 game and be excited without someone trying to downplay it bc Nintendo, per usual

Sadly once I saw that annoying side character and things that looked like "puzzle hint" features(character with dialogue in a tiny pop up window giving you subtle hints or way directions, basically hand holding 101) I knew it won't be among the highest rated in the franchise 😔

I hope the desert music level option is a matter of 'listen to this classic Metroid music whole on a bike'. Still bad (basic experience lock and not tailoring a track to a significant gameplay segment), but better than the alternative of writing a music track for the desert and then locking it behind a paywall.

Looks like there's only 6 star wars movies only 1 Matrix movie, only 3 Mass Effect games and only 3 Metroid Prime games.

Eh. 3, 2, 0, and... 2 and a half (Corruption's highlights checker an overall weaker experience).

yeah, I saw something saying hardmode is gated behind a playthrough. Normally I would start on hard, but if the dialogue is as consistently trash as what we're seeing, enduring it IS the hard mode and second playthrough hearing it all over again just to play a higher difficulty would be too cruel

scores are probably still overinflated because it is Retro Studios. Sounds like a mid 70s game.
Not on my watch and I assume the majority of other Metroid Prime fans. I'm very harsh but the series is one of the few where I believe that they deserve the scores they usually get. Very unique, intriguing and fun Metroidvania FPS Sci-fi Action adventure series. It's established its large following for.... a reason and deservedly so. Huge influence and reason for the thing called "immersive Sim" we see in today's Games

I can't get over how stupid the bike looks in motion. Who the fuck designed that thing?
I think they wanted it to be toyetic but they overdid it.
It looks like a high speed racing track bike but they put it on a very wild an uneven terrain and that also makes it look silly
Animations don't help either.
