While i love this series and obviously preordered Prime 4, the best selling game in the franchise is Metroid Dread with 3+ million copies sold.
This is no mario or pokemon, it would be awesome if the series was more popular

Nintendo almost killed this franchise for letting it rot for 18 years, there is gamers that never heard of Metroid, the hype is mostly old farts ( like us ) and thats it.

I'll give it to the big N, they are REALLY trying to make Metroid a mainstream game to push sales! Somehow I don't think it'll work (although I hope this sells in huge numbers). Metroid is a hardcore gamers type of game that has its dedicated fans (me being one of them) yet I know so many "gamers" who wouldn't know Metroid if she bit them on their tiny cocks!
