That is an awesome idea, it's time they turned the formula on its head.Of All Trades said:What I want out of Prime 3 is a game where you start with everything and over time lose the components, but which in turn strengthens the others, until all you have left is a massively powered arm cannon that can slap around the final boss.
Krowley said:as to the MP2 hate... it isn't as good as the first game, but that doesn't mean it's a "decent" or "pretty good" game. it's an awesome AAA title that's better than 99% of the stuff released. it only suffers in comparison to the first one. The fact that MP is one of the best games of all time is the only reason echoes was a disapointment.

They can even keep the structure whereby you gain passage to previoulsy inaccessible areas as you progress... Just prevent Samus from entering doors because she isn't allowed to pass a security check while her suit contains certain upgrades/weapons. Or early in the game, you can't jump high enough to reach a ledge because Samus is "weighed down" by an item, let's say steel boots that let her walk at the bottom of a deep lake. Later, you're stripped of the boots, losing access to the lake bottom, but gaining access to higher ledges--since you can now jump higher.
C'mon, get creative with the Metroid gameplay paradigms.
Mama Smurf said:Having Samus powered up from the beginning and keeping it is possibly the most horrible idea GAF has ever come up with, and the competition is fierce.
WTF guys? Shall we start Zelda games with all the items too? It's the same Link sometimes.
As for plausability, that's a fine thing for games to have, but it can keep the fuck out of the way when it gets in the way of gameplay. And the idea of Samus starting off all powered up and then getting even more stuff might work for one game, but what then? After all, it'd only be done for plauasbility reasons, so we need to keep that up and she'll have to keep all the new crap too for the next game until she has so much shit going on in that suit that it's ridiculous.
The item progression is such a key part of the Metroid formula, if you don't like it go play another game rather trying to turn Metroid into another game. To me, this is like someone saying temples and dungeons are boring in Zelda now, that the world should just flow together and puzzles and bosses should appear in the overworld. Fine ideas for new games, but keep the hell away from core aspects of established series.

[Nintex] said:Actually in Prime 2 Samus she should started without her gear.
If I recall correcly at the ending of Metroid Prime she left here suit behind and escaped.
She lost all here powers.
Son of Godzilla said:Oh and fuck off, that stupid hole in the ship is inconspicuous and pointed the wrong way and I was half drunk.
[Nintex] said:Who ever came up with the stupid KEY idea should be fired! The game itself has an extremely boring atmosphere....
Its a boring place to visit, also the level design is very complicated, in Prime 1 you didn't walk for hours and hours to find a closed door or a useless rocket expansion...
I'am at Torvus bog now and I have absolutely no idea were to go.. or how to open any of the closed dark world portals. The green water gives me a headache after 15 minutes..
A real shame because I really want to see sanctuary fortress and the new morphball sections...
12. Will Metroid Prime 3 allow you to travel to many worlds?
Retro: The player can expect to explore different, quite varied environments in Prime 3.

Do tell in more detail... How far into the game was that?SantaCruZer said:I know how you feel, I was a victim of that as well. Worst bug ever.

mrkgoo said:Just for kicks, in MP3, they should do away with the 'gain her powers back' schtick, and do something like mix her equpiment for different effects a la the unwritten bits for Super Metroid. Maybe you start off with some stuff, but you have to give up certain things to acquire others, with stations or enemies that allow you to switch. Make combinations of equipment that you see fit, and require certain combiantions to get through certain areas.
Man, I want Super metroid on GBA. Not on DS, on GBA, so I can get a micro, and glue that cart into the slot.
SantaCruZer said:I would say it's about 75%-80% into the game. There is a fatal bug right after you defeat one of the bosses. When you grab the echo visor and exit a room before shooting some sound sensors, you will not be able to shoot the sound sensors when you come back into the room again. Basicly you screw up the whole progress, and if you use one save slot, and save over that you're done.
Mrbob said:It really isn't. I would say Metroid Prime is within the top 99 percentile, but not Echoes. Echoes may make the top 60 percent though.
Wired said:Hey, I really liked MP2 untill I reached the spiderball boss, I can't beat the fucking thing (the last "stage" kicks my ass, repeatedly) and now I'm seriously doubting if I'll ever play the damn game again. Stupid sperderball thingy!
Ancestor_of_Erdrick said:Check an FAQ. You don't have that much farther to go before you finish the game. Stick with it! It takes a little practice for most people, you'll get the hang of it.
I found Echoes to be far more fun than Prime. This is coming from a Zelda fan though. Echoes had far better puzzles than Prime (sanctuary was awesome).
