MGSV Alternate E3 Gameplay Demo

Just need my expository dialogue and banter from Big Boss and this will be 10/10 for me. The mission briefs from Kaz are cold without some 2-way conversation. Every new objective in previous MGS came with a conversation, and potential for silly character quirks. Either way, Kojima seems to have made up for that by making the gameplay as expressive and insane as the player decides.

If there's a reason that Quiet is dressed the way she is, then it's odd you can find different outfits for her (inferred from the Uniform 'Naked' suggesting that there's other outfits) unless those outfits are equally sheer.

I'll wait for Kojima to provide a reason in the game but if he doesn't then he'll sort of deserve the backlash.

i dont get why they dont have foot prints from snake or the horse in the sand...MGS1 had foot prints :| . Stupid detail, but as games get more realistic and detailed..the simple stuff becomes really jarring.

Also the horse riding "Hyah...hyahh" is fucking annoying

Stop reading my mind...those two things were exactly what I thought while watching this.

Remember, sexuality in Japan is not as taboo as it is here in the States and in other countries.

Not sexuality, sexism. At best, Kojima's female characters come off as being written by a child (EVA's seduction techniques being basically "Get a load'a these, big boy"), at worst they make you wonder whether he legitimately has a problem with women (murder the naked Beauties as they try to molest you in skin-tight suits while the camera gives them gynecological exams). The Boss is basically the only woman who makes it out of the saga with any dignity intact, or isn't killed off/raped to manufacture some drama, and even she had to zip her suit all the way open for a sweet cleavage shot at the end.

I'm enormously excited for MGSV, but I've got zero faith that Kojima can dig himself out of the Quiet hole he's made for himself. Pretty sure I'm going to feel just fine about my words and deeds, but, hey, maybe he'll surprise me.

This is an issue in many games these days. Things that you'd think would be obvious by now are left out... very frustrating to be honest.

I completely agree, but I feel like this deserves a seperate thread in order to not have this mixed up with general reactions to the gameplay demo and other stuff.

As for the demo I am really glad that MGS is still having all that silly stuff in. I wonder how that Gaffer who defended how uber serious the Phantom Pain is going to be feels about this.

I found Quiet's humming annoying. She it every time she spotted an enemy or something.

Yep. Long-distance horse riding is going to be a nightmare.

I'm not going to argue this again, but I feel MGS does a good job with it's female characters mainly because they actually have personalities, they have motivations and agency, they influence the plot, there are many who are in top positions of power and because you can't count them all on one hand.

Hell MGS4 alone has more female characters than most long running franchises.

The series has a ton of innuendo or sexual teasing, for BOTH genders. From the skin tight, ass-gripping, fully detailed sneaking suits, to the shirtless/nude portrayal of many male characters.

Quiet's actions will determine how good a character she is, not her outfit, as it should be with every character.

During and after the point (~6mins) where Snake & Quiet take out two guards, what is that annoying repetitive sound? Is it in animal?

Quiet humming the opening tune from Sins of the Father, meaning she has someone in her sights.

Actually it's not Sins of The Father, it's the Quiet theme. Those are two different songs.

But yeah she is humming when she is ready and in position.

Ah cool.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.

The wait for this game is going to kill me... I have done all I can to quell the smolder HYPE fire in my chest, but this trailer just blew the door of the furnace. It is going to be a long wait...

On other topics, War is some raw stuff, and this game is looking like its going to go into all the darkest places, so if you are offended easily it is going to be a rough ride. (Note that you being offended is totally up to you and how you feel about the content.)

As for me, I just let stuff like boob physics fall into the folder of "realistic character movements" and the horrible things that are going to happen to men, women, and children in this game are all reasons war sucks. It Wont stop me from building an army for war though.

Fulton balloon! Take me hoooooooooooooooooooooome... *floats away*

Open metal gear solid sounded pretty convincing on paper, but now after ground zeroes and that, the level design doesn't look on point. In gz the map was already small but still achieved to be sparse. Here the camps are so flat, basically they go over the top with everything except the environments which would be much needed for density.
And that's not to talk about this game seemingly being in high supply of overpowered joke items...
It's really not turning like the survival thing I was picturing at the time of project ogre.

Does this mean that the extracted soldiers are automatically assigned to groups based on their stats? Or do their stats simply increase your level as is?

Also, shouldn't the guard who opens the door to the target's location hear the fist rocket fly overhead?

You won't get 90% of these from the start. This is for demo purposes to show us how much possibility there is in the game.

If you want to be dropped into the map alone, with only a gun, a knife and your wits, so you can live out your survivalist fantasies, I believe that is catered for too.

Plus this is how you start out. No companions, no extra equipment.

Remember:
Mother Base goes kablamo at the end of Ground Zeroes.

I don't see it as a good thing to do the game balance ourselves and limiting the use of items when they could be better implemented.
For exemple, the decoy is interesting but it has to break the guard alert on sight to work and they're extremely gullible about it, as seen in a demo gunfire sequence. The cardbox sexy trap is also just shocking at the level of disbelief needed to understand how guards can get so much in awe with it.
But anyway, it's the level design that I'm most cautious of.
For now there's better camp design in something like far cry 4, I wasn't expecting it.

yeah i just hope every camp is more or less unique.
We don't know enough about the game so its too easy to let our imaginations run wild - but it would be awesome if the enemy would become more adapted to your strat spamming as the game progresses so you end up having to use different strategies.

well there is that bit about guards starting to wear helmets if you headshot everyone in sight. There's probably other stuff, too.

Yup. They've also shown body armour getting dished out and decoys getting deployed. I imagine it'll be little incremental changes like keep attacking bases at night and they up the number of guards. Stuff like that.

Magazines have been in the game since MGS2 and work exactly like that.

oh thats awesome. Logically, this would be the best reason to have so much variety to completing objectives and choice of how to expand your base. Now i am excited some more.
