MGSV: Ground Zeroes - Spoilers Thread - #TeamBowie

It's moronic. Streamers/Let's players have their own setup that will obviously bypass this stupid shit.

Hey, the other dude also managed to get to Paz. Now to see even more stream monsters pissed off. :P

Well, worked this time :P the streamers don't have their setups, therefore we have to wait even longer for the ending.

Can you not shoot around corners anymore?

Yeah, is there not an option to take cover and shoot from a corner like in the previous games? Heck, even MGS1 had it and the game mechanics are years old.

You couldn't shoot around corners in MGS1.

Summary of my impression from what I've seen this evening :-

The Good:-
-Graphically very nice. Lighting and rain looks really nice.
-General movement and controls seem good. Snake's mobility is a good step forward for the series.
-The way guards follow up gun shots and search seems good, but would need to play around it with to say for sure.
-As a demo it is a great showcase for the potential of Phantom Pain, seems like you could have a lot of fun playing around with the guards here.
-Sutherland was fine, from what little we got to hear anyway.
-Multiple entry and exit points, should encourage some exploration anyway.

The Bad:-
-Not sure how replayable the story mission would be. I know it's been done to death but what we've seen today shows just how little is there.
-The slow mo seems very exploitable. After the time lapses the base goes straight to alert, does this mean that if we elect to disable the slow mo any time we are spotted there is an instant base wide alert and we can't interrupt the guards radioing in?!?
-Doesn't seem to be any gadgets to play around with and little weaponry. Doesn't do anything to shake the idea this is a demo to a casual player.

Undecided:-
-Whilst Camp Omega is only a snippet, even in the areas I've seen the two players going around there didn't seem to be anything well designed about the placement of structures and guards. In the two streams the players were spotted from being blatantly careless, I'm not sure what challenge is there for any player remotely skilled in stealth games or Metal Gear in general. Having said that the little village we saw in the PP E3 trailer looked better in terms of enemy placement and environment design so maybe it's just because this game is being pushed out the door.

I don't see a $40 value in the game, or even a $30 value. It does raise my hopes for TPP, though. Definitely feels closer to Splinter Cell than previous MGS games have.

Do we know what difficulty these streamers were playing on?

The stream I am watching the guy literally just ran away from the chopper, while it was landing. How the hell do people like this even play videogames.

Kojima was right, people are not going to be able to finish Phantom Pain.

Music is great. Why the hell does everyone who gets an anticipated game early completely and utterly suck at that game? The incompetence is reminding me of some of the early GTA V streams.

Also, if you turn reflex off, does that mean an instant base-wide alert when you're spotted? Do you still have time to prevent enemies from radioing for support?

Paz just said: "Hit me, hit me all you want."

Damn, she is mind broken. Fucking Skull Face.

1. At the very least, guard patterns are completely different for every mission.
2. Slo Mo only works if you are a certain distance, can be turned off (not even available on hard), and I believe has a 3 guard limit.
3. Gadgets seem limited but weaponry numbers around 15 I think.

I'm not sure 2. is correct. The stream the guy played on hard and it was still there. When he was leaving the base with Paz during his normal playthrough he (unintentionally) triggered a number of slow mos one after the other as he was leaving. Didn't look to be limited at all unfortunately.

Considering that the ending blank might be the final cutscene + credits, the final cut scene probably isn't all that lengthy.

Paz has two bombs inside her. Snake removes one, but isn't aware of the other one. When they're in the helicopter, she reveals the truth and jumps out of it midflight. She then blows up.

Was this meant to be a joke? Because it sounds like one.

BB: "Ok we're all done here"
*BB washes his hands*
Paz: "You removed the bombs?"
BB: "Bombs?"
*comedic silence*
*cut to the exterior of the helicopter, a woman been thrown out, explodes in mid air.*

So do you guys buy that Ground Zeroes is a propaganda film?

I'm kind of starting to believe it...

Someone claimed to have seen the ending:

Strangelove sets up MSF by disabling ZEKE and the MB defenses, at which point Skull Face and a small unit secure Strangelove and ZEKE. Reinforcements are called and XOF troops begin an area/boat assault on Motherbase. Big Boss arrives seeing the base on fire, believing the package inside Paz to be the only thing XOF had planned for them. Paz attempts to reason with XOF troops, but is shot and presumably killed.

Big Boss fights his way through to rescue Kaz, who he gets back to the helicopter. Kaz tries to talk Big Boss in to retreating, but he says he’s not abandoning his soldiers because they wouldn’t abandon him, and begins to fight his way through the soldiers with Kaz providing back up fire. Big Boss mistakingly believes that Strangelove is being held by Skull Face, and attempts to rescue her.

She pulls a gun on him, he looks all betrayed, then Skull Face shoots him in the chest and he starts bleeding out as Skull Face boards ZEKE and Strangelove is escorted away by XOF troops. Kaz, Amanda, and a small unit rescue Big Boss, who’s now unconscious, and get him back to a helicopter which ZEKE opens fire on. Kaz and Big Boss are caught in the explosion. Chico, who was hiding behind a container, notices Amanda and joins the group.

Amanda tells them to get to another helicopter while she attempts to hold off ZEKE, Kaz and another soldier gets Big Boss in to a helicopter, and they begin flying away. Amanda is still in MB while it goes up in flames.

They arrive on an airship carrier, where Chico goes in to shock and gets taken to the medical wing with BB and Kaz. They attempt to resuscitate Big Boss, he’s in a coma, Kaz points them towards Chico whos heartbeat has now slowed and a beeping noise starts inside his chest. The doctors look on in horror as the beeping increases and it cuts to black.

There’s an Ocelot phonecall aswell.

not that old gamefaqs post again...
Hal/Huey's actor is the only one in the opening credits we haven't seen, right? Maybe he has some radio, i dunno.

That is Bionic Commando levels of shit twist.

So much confusion around the ending, i really want to see it NOW!

maybe hideo kojima will actually interrupt the games narrative david cage style to talk to snake and the gamers while the credits roll with various in game stunts that go wrong but then all the casts laugh and joke about it so you know that nothing went wrong and they're all having fun.

Why are a bunch of people under the impression that there's some swerve-like twist at the end of GZ? I remember the ending being described as emotional and maybe controversial, nothing more.

I think theres a quote from Kiefer that implies a twist...or maybe he outright says there is. I dont remember. But yeah, blame Kiefer!! :p

Clearly they all decided to play on the PS4. :p

I wonder if you can record it with the Share button without getting that screen.

Highly doubt it, I guess the same policy applies. Hell, I would take a video recorded with a cell phone at this point.
