Peace Walker's trailers also showed duplicate Big Boss', so I think that's just Kojima trying to leave viewers confused. It's likely that in the final game only the player you are controlling will look like Big Boss, and any other Big Boss' will be wearing a balaclava.

Kaz is just jealous. He knows in that instance that if Big Boss picks up that puppy, their bond will be stronger than anything Kaz could ever hope for. He loves Big Boss, loves him so much, but it's never been returned. He's as loyal as any dog could ever be! More so! But that pup is a threat, a threat to his relationship with the man he admires, the man he would die for.

So in that moment, he tells Big Boss to leave the pup alone, a desperate act of self-defense against an inevitable future where the bond between man and dog is stronger that that between two friends.

"Just leave it alone..." he croaks over the radio, holding back the tears. "Don't do this to me...."

"No, I'll take him. I can see something in this animal: something strong, something fierce."

Kaz pulls the radio from his ear, unable to let his deepest affection hear his sobs.
