MH Wilds lost more than 98% of its userbase

Good luck man. If I were a RE fan I would be praying for the game to not release just before the end of the japanese fiscal year. :goog_relieved:
I have 0 reason to doubt them. RE2R,RE3R,RE7,RE8,and RE4R are all well selling, highly reviewed, well polished, and fun as hell game I am replaying throughout every year.

They also give us demos prior to launch always so I can feel confident.

Street fighter and RE are in good hands.

If you now "don't know" why spew random stuff based on nothing you've read about what I said of the game claiming I defend it... But I'm the weird one xD

Post/thread (ya I'm using that as a verb) better people, whether hating or liking something or arguing about it.

Anyway, someone call a mod to merge this with the original thread or delete it or whatever.
You do it.

it's such a shock. i mean, graphics are dated and awful, gameplay sucks, gameplay loop sucks and it runs like shit on ps5 pro. surely the Monster Hunter name alone should have made it a hit! we really need to crunch the data and find out what happened.

I think some context is important here. Let's take a look at some reviews.

So we can suss out that many of the complaints stem from veterans who find the game lacking difficulty, and an overall lack of optimization. There are complains about a lack of content, but many of these reviews have hundreds of hours of playtime. So... if there was nothing to do, what have you been doing for ... over 250 hours?

Is this entitlement? If you don't like the game, don't play it. Why did you "hate play" the game for hundreds of hours if you didn't like it?

The game has fundamental issues, of that there is no doubt. I do believe those issues can be fixed and some otherwise ignored - as clearly many players have given their play time. Some of the criticism does feel some what unfair though. Vocal minority and all that. There are millions of players on steam, and out of that, 9,000 felt it was time to leave a bad review after hundreds of hours of gameplay.

Is this just dogpiling?

game is mid, waaaaay too easy, but the worst sin is the performance, it still kills it for me at least, awful AWFUL performance.

great reviews on PSN ; )
PSN has no actual reviews it's just some BS star rating that gives 0 context to how the game is in any department. Amazon, Apple, Steam, Google even Xbox reviews are actual reviews because they give the consumer the ability to communicate and write what they actually think about the product. Sony is afraid of giving players free speech on their store page so they disallow it, it is draconian and backwards.

Could you imagine if restaurant reviews were just a BS star review with no context? Imagine if Michelin stars didn't actually have an actual review attached to them, nobody would take them seriously and guess what nobody takes the PSN consumer star rating seriously in fact no one even talks about it not even journalists, it has 0 impact in gaming and no one cares. The complete opposite of Apple and Steam reviews.

Never heard of the honeymoon period? When you've been hyped for a game to release for quite a while it'll take you quite some time to realize that it doesn't live to the expectations. I bet those reviews are from hardcore fans that really, really wanted to like the game but in the the the cons were stronger than the pros for them.

They really need to revamp the rating system. It serves the publisher much more than it serves the player by lacking transparency.
That's the point everyone moved towards Amazon style consumer reviews where consumers can express themselves with free speech about the product. Sony said fuck that if people can voice why the product is bad then consumers might buy the product less. So much of PSN is anti consumer and a massive downgrade over Steam and in some ways even a
Google, Apple, Amazon hell even Xbox.

Yep exactly. It just gives this feeling...

Its just not as good. Hard to put a finger on why.

I absolutely love the series, but as soon as I got through low rank...I just...kinda.... Nah...right on out.

Monster Hunter really needs some competition, Square Enix has enough content to make a MH gaming, but they ll never do it.
Yes, it's weird that there isn't a lot of stuff like it nowadays.

Most recent I can think of is Wild Hearts but I didn't hear much about it after it's release.

Well deserved.

And my opinion has nothing to do with the game's performance as it ran fine on my PC.

The story was crap, the cutscenes between hunts were too long, and the companions, especially the kid, were annoying as hell.
That kid really did suck.

SE tried with FF Explorers...didn't do well. I did enjoy Lords of Arcana on PSP though!

I like Granblue Relink. Though I don't think many are interested in making a PSO/MH successor.

Though I do be keeping an eye on Gunmetal Gothic. Which is inspired by PSO/MH/CV:Harmony of Despair

i m thinking a FF MH game, FF games has tons of enemies variety that would feet incredible well on a MH game and with the BOOM of wilds i m pretty sure that a FFMH would sell incredible well.

Have them collab with Tecmo Koei and make a Strangers of Paradise FF MH game. Done deal.

that would be amazing but idk if Koei has what needs to pull this off, i think it has to be a inside job, they already do Hunts in most FF games, they just need to let us use the monster parts to make armors and weapons.

Pretty sad it hasn't ever happened because they have so many bosses and summons you could fight. But oh well what are dreams made of?

I tried the open beta on both PS and Xbox and that was enough for me to go from day one to "wait until the game gets an expansion and a lot of patches". It was too pathetically easy, too handholding, and the visual quality and overall performance gave me literal headaches after 30-45 minutes of playing.

People shot down criticisms saying it was "only a beta" and would be better at launch, only for the game to release with all the same issues.

If they can't save it with the expansion I guess it leaves room for others to try and get in the market, but who could? Konami, Koei, Namco & others failed. My dream since the 00s has been for Sega to give us a Panzer Dragoon world monster hunting game, you'd simply be part of a village trying to survive, setting out on missions to kill mutated monsters and get precious resources, with coolia riding before Monster Hunter brought mounts in. The occasional ancient ruin with pure types, seekers and empire encounters, mixing the unearthed technology with the primitive gear in inventive ways before Horizon etc., though I'd keep dragons, the best tech and such to a minimum, maybe just parts of the lore you unearth with references to the past games but nothing really concrete, just setting up the stage for this unique post apocalyptic world that may or may not be on its way to healing.

It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the recent negative reviews are due to the banwaves. Honestly, Capcom was stupid to implement leaderboards tied to rewards for a PvE game.

Performance and visuals in the final game (at least for the console versions) are massively improved over the beta, as many of us said they probably would.

No they aren't. Still extremely choppy, stuttery, with frame drops and looks like Vaseline smeared all over the textures.

It's a visual piece of shit just like it was in the beta.

Again, compared to the beta the difference is huge, in both image quality and performance. Is it what I would consider good? No, not on the base machines. Especially the image quality, but it's still a night and day difference to what it was in the beta. The PS5 pro version specifically is quite decent.

This upcoming thursday may be the last hope for any announcement of DD2 DLC. That content roadmap leak happened, then the director of the game left the company, and since then there has been no news about anything DD2 at all.
Not to mention the survey they initially put out at launch asking players if they would buy DLC. I think it's dead though. Really wanted to believe the Dragon Princess rumors.

I know and to be honest, I don't expect anything at this point from these fools. They have such a great base with that game they can build on, but instead they are chasing these crap multiplayer games like MH. The combat and gameplay sucks in that one.

I will still buy games I like from different studios like re9 and any sony game, but I won't fall in line without any criticism like a lot of these fools do on every side.

Be it green delusional rats, ponys, 10 gens behind nintendo or master my ass pc race, all of them are a bunch of plastic worshipping cross eyed ugly man babies.

Steam reviews work. I was gonna get this but didnt because of steam reviews, it's still on my wishlist but if things dont change it's gonna be gone soon.

Another capcom game where this happened for me was dragons dogma 2. Wanted to get it at release, steam reviews made me reconsider but was still on my wishlist to maybe get it later on sale. A while ago i was cleaning up my wishlist and just thought you were here for a year, your reviews are still mixed, you're out.
You did the right thing. Bought DD2 at lauch full price played 29 hours and drop it. :messenger_unamused:

While I understand your frustration, the unfortunate thing here is that the DD2 team is essentially a ship without a captain. We don't even know if any other director at Capcom had a vision on DLC for it.

Devil May Cry is also in an odd spot due to this as well. If there's any potentially good news from this, it's that there's a slight, slight chance that Capcom could greenlight a Dino Crisis game since they will need time to figure out what to do with DMC.

They have still the guy, who did the dark arisen for DD1, so he could build on it. And yeah, it sucks that we still have nothing about DC, that's another franchise worth remaking.

Honeymoon fase was amazing. Had a real good time with Wilds for about 80hrs. Then it got stale.

Nightreign was giving me the needed fix, but I'm kinda done with that too after 90hrs.

Honestly, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate 2 is all I need.

As others have mentioned, the story is just too childish and cringe for me. I hate the way Capcom writes these games its like everything wrong with anime dialled up to 11.
