For me it's pretty damn shameful coming from MIA specifically.

This is the same woman that used to be super fucking open about her anti-government, anti-corporate political sentiments.

LOL

don't ever get it twisted with these celebrities, $$$$$ talks. Everything else is a gimmick

Is this how Pharrell's "Freedom" was exclusive for like two weeks? Same BS game companies use and it's just disgusting marketing that doesn't actually work since it takes two seconds to google if "blah, blah" is actually exclusive to "blah, blah"

Holy shit, the production on Swords is so good. I can't believe whoever produced it "blended" Manali Trance (the whining-sound) with an old school prayer. That's some pretty inspired stuff.

Not really seeing the cultural appropriation stuff that made Interscope veto releasing the video.

I refrained from talking about Swords a few days ago, but god damn it's so *goooood*.

EDIT: I really don't see what Interscope was concerned about. Perhaps they saw the banana street show shot and thought it'd be violent?
It's very well made.

Details on the new album:

"I directed and edited my first music video for 'Warriors' for my last album, MATANGI, and I held it back until now, because it inspired me to make a whole series of songs and videos on the concept of borders. Making songs and videos at the same time out of a suitcase on location is something I did on my album KALA, but it's video, as well as music, made by me in a very ARULAR way.

My new song 'Swords' was filmed in a Temple in India and we recorded the clang of the metal to make the beat at the same time as shooting these incredible girls. There's ten more of these countries coming and I haven't chased where to go yet, so who knows where this project will take me. 'Warriors' was shot in Cote d'Ivoire with a guy I saw in a youtube video doing the most incredible dancing. I tracked down that exact guy, flew out there and played him the 'Warriors' track. He did his thing for me. He is a spiritual warrior and communicates through dancing. It's a lifelong commitment for him to be the designated spiritual body that channels that dance.

The concept for this LP is 'broader then a border' and MATAHDATAH is the journal of MATANGI. Sometimes I move vertical and sometimes I move horizontal."

I dig her new music video for sure. Putting them in a trance, indeed. MIA doing some great work. All the performers and the African warrior dancer were dope as fuck. I like stuff like this.

Part 02 of this project is apparently coming tomorrow on both Spotify and Apple Music.
