Did I hurt your feelings?
If so I shall send an apology to Phelps. It would be like apologizing directly to you.
You sound like a terrorist because you hate America. Have you waived your flag today?
Might have to call the NSA on this guy.

OP is amazing.
Don't get me wrong, I am happy for Phelps. But I had nothing to do with his achievements, nor did most of the population. Why should I feel proud for something I had no part in?
I'm guessing you don't watch sports.
Its the same reason I get happy as fuck when the Bucs do well and miserable when they fucking suck. We identify with our teams and support them. When they win, we are happy. When they lose, we are not happy. It comes with supporting a team.
19 medals. The most successful human being of all time. Balling, gaming, smoking, fucking models, and super cool. Greatest man that ever lived.

Well, the USA is leading not only the overall medal count (where we assume all medals are created equal ), but it's also winning the silver medal count.
I consider pride a step above happy or sad. I think pride should be reserved for those who actually contributed towards the success.

Exactly, this isn't exactly new, and its extremely prevalent during the Olympics for millions worldwide. Noone ever said he had to be as enthusiastic as others, just try and not be an ass if someone else wants to enjoy a little "GO! <Insert Country Here>".
Freedom isn't free. It takes folks like you and me, and Michael Phelps.I consider pride a step above happy or sad. I think pride should be reserved for those who actually contributed towards the success.
I have no problem with Go USA type posts. But I do when people need to add snide remarks about saltiness, jealousy, and bitterness.

You can spurn nationalism and pride in any organization that you're not directly contributing to or a part of if you want to. It's a free country. You can be a goddamn shit-eating Commie if you so desire, because America allows heathens like you to be wrong of your own volition.Don't get me wrong, I am happy for Phelps. I'm crying white, pissing blue, and shitting red. It's like a 10%, 10%, 80% split between yall too. Phelps pretty much just guaranteed our freedom for the next 100 years.
It's fitting that the most decorated Olympian is American; living as close to the border as I do, I don't have to look far to see how truly every American is basically on that level.
I definitely lost the lottery being born Canadian, ugh.
Every day I wish I could display the gentle humility and rich integrity of Americans. Truly a blessed country, congratulations you guys. Congratulations. Those medals belong to you, the most athletic of countries.
Owned by FIAT.

Phelps is not just the greatest athlete but the best person to ever walk the earth. In comparison this is Englands best athletes :
Seriously, peek into a sports thread sometime.
Talking shit and sports are like PB&J

It's weakess is what it is.
Maybe greatest sarong wearer
He's the best at something. Of course he's American. Is Phelps even American? I need to see a birth certificate.
I never realised that Americans cared so much about displaying their ignorance to the world.
FIAT owns neither the concept of cars nor freedom.Nor that creepy rendition of George Washington

The only joke here is straight males' sexuality withering under the assault of Becks in underwear.Of all the joke posts in this thread, this is the best.

How do you guys know about this, have NBC even aired this yet?

Are we allowed to be proud of Phelps, or would that make non-Americans upset? This thread is confusing me - I don't want to upset other countries. Can I say one nice thing about him, then post 10 things that suck about this country? Would that work?
;p
Maybe a good thread to link this.
