Uh....ok? So you don't care that this is Microsoft's goal here?

MS never said that. What they said is that 10 years is enough time to make a cod competitor., or they can renegotiate a new contract after that time.

Buddy, you had people in here claiming they never would. Others countering that you can't trust Microsoft to not do it, no matter what they say or don't say. That they would even be willing to do it within a few years. Since that was their first offer to Sony. Which mostly covered Sony's deal period with ABK.

You had people saying this was just about GamePass and mobile. Not about harming Sony badly. Not about buying the market out. If this e-mail is legit, there is absolutely no moral high ground anymore for Microsoft supporters. You are actively backing a company that wants to be the singular ruler of gaming and simply buy their way to that goal instead of earning customers. They want to be the only choice you have.

Information like this can not only add even more weight against them for sure, it can also be used in future attempts to acquire other big companies. It would show Microsoft's intent, without question. Unless, of course, both Stuart and Booty suddenly decide to spend more time with their families.
True, but firing Matt would probably get around it for future acquisitions. He’s toast.

I’m not seeing how this is a big deal. Like wasn’t this obvious to everyone from the beginning?

It is one thing to theorize such things on a gaming forum. It is quite another to have something like this revealed to the world during the middle of the disputed acquisition in question. Throws all of Microsoft's promises of well intentions right out the window. Microsoft's intentions are at the heart of this entire acquisition. I would bet good money that these emails will be subpoenaed and used against Microsoft in a big way.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
The problem isn't the lawsuit, but the email.
That email is a damning evidence against MS and it crushes any hope they have for acquiring Activision.

I don't know how one can reach any conclusions based on supposedly leaked emails with redacted content.

Not too long ago we had folks demanding things like names of publishers in support of the acquisition to be redacted, let's extend the same courtesy here.

ironically I actually was a fan of Hoeg’s Law before all the MS-ABK stuff but just sheesh 🙄

buying the largest third party publisher in an industry which neither of your major competitors in that industry can afford to do would fall under unfair I’d think…

Hoeg showing why he's the one disconnected here. Using the deal with the intent to eliminate competition is WHY REGULATOTRS BLOCK THESE DEALS!

They reached out MS for more info. And considering the document is internal, plus MS silence, the email is real.

Just normal bussiness guys, nothingburger like they say on Era. This deal was good for gamers, competition, workers*, cloud providers and everyone's mother and now it's also fine if the goal is Sony going out of bussiness, everything is clear.

*except those working in UK, if ABK has to leave UK then f them lol

The funny thing about all this is that u really have people that believe phil spencers good guy act, when in fact hes said multiple times that he and his management team are on the same page/wave length. So you dont think matt bootys email isnt a reflection of phil spencers true intent as well?

Booty: "Hello, I need you to set aside 70 billion dollars for the Xbox division"

Tim: "You need how much!?! And for what!?! And finally, who the fuck are you?"

Booty: "Don't worry about who I am, I'm not even so sure myself *nervous laughter*. We need 70 billion dollars to put Sony out of business once and for all. Please say it's ok or Phil will make me take indefinite extended family leave."

Tim: "Oh we're going to Blockbuster Sony? I've seen that one before, say no more, it's done.

PS, fuck Jim Ryan, I'm throwing in some extra money for you to get Florian on the case, tell Phil and DarkMage I said hi"

"The way they grow is by making Xbox smaller… Sony is leading the dialogue around why the deal shouldn't go through to protect its dominant position on console, so the thing they grab onto is Call of Duty"

Uh.......Microsoft has the power to show us those lawyer's are full of shit.....but they aren't doing that so....

Awkward John Krasinski GIF by Saturday Night Live
Their lawyers aren’t even trying to argue that it’s been taken out of context or that it was an error.

  • In legal documents, Microsoft characterized the email as an “internal exchange” that should remain sealed; a Microsoft rep declined to comment further.
  • Microsoft's lawyers have said the document has had no bearing on the court’s decisions.
F this company and the current leadership team. Every one of them is a huge liar.

adamsapple adamsapple I can’t lie, it’s sad to see you trying to bury stuff like this. I thought you were different man.
