Plain language should be applauded in a world full of corporate buzz words.

But if the message is shit, then the message will be shit no matter if plain language or corporate verbiage is being used.

She's a gaslighter. No one cares whether she speaks in corpo speak or not. She's still a corporate shill. And she is shilling away right now.

She's like the perfect character out of a Paul Verhoeven movie.

Ads are based on what you’ve been browsing for. Someone is looking for a happy ending.

This isn't true.

I signed up about a week ago to follow news. I followed a couple gamers with podcasts and within a day started getting bots promo-ing girls. I never clicked on, searched for, or followed any of these girls available for "bookings" but the algo found me so I deleted my account. I think that all it took was certain checks in the signing up process.

But that's exactly what Microsoft themselves say.

I was thinking yesterday into why Cod and Minecraft aren't exclusive, its not just the fact that they have been very spread around devices, but even in CMA survey it shows that Call of Duty wouldn't move a massive base into another console, its appeal is mostly on casual games who will not be convinced to require to spend +300$ to play new games in another console, while games like Starfield and Redfall are about more hardcore consumers who will desire it even at higher costs.

I cry about SonyGaf from my chair in Redmond, WA
GTA, FIFA, Madden, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy etc are all evergreen IPs but COD won’t be big in 10 years.
I see the pattern here.

Choosing third party games with a close history with Sony.

None of these titles has ever come close.

Best selling resident Evil was 7 with 200.000 copies.

MH world sold 18.6 millions.

CoD blops sold 30 millions.

I don't care about the exact number (too lazy to check, feel free to correct me), but COD modern warfare 2 (current) passed 1 billion dollars in sale within two weeks.

It's wiping all your mentioned games I've made bold in your post.

It's embarrassing to see people downvoted cod in here.

You seriously believe Redfall can push more people towards Xbox than COD lol?

People may not jump ship instantly but the hardcore COD base will base their next console purchase on where they can get free stuff inside the game

I remember friends picking up a 360 just to play COD map packs 30 days early, at least I think it was 30 days without looking it up

Stop parroting Microsoft's flimsy arguments.

The last time a COD game was on a Nintendo system it accounted for less than 1% of the sales. If Nintendo or Nintendo only players cared about COD on the Switch or Nintendo systems in general, they'd have made this happen a while ago. That deal was meaningless, and I'm very curious to see - when this acquisition goes through - if this year's COD releases on the Switch the same day it comes out everywhere else.

There was nothing stopping ABK from getting COD on GeForce Now and GamePass. My guess is only reason that hadn't happened before if ABK insisted on selling the game on Battle.net so they wouldn't have to share in the sale. They only recently went back to Steam.

You'll notice how Nintendo didn't bother putting out a statement about this and Gabe Newell said that the agreement was unnecessary. This is all performative.

The only evidence we have for how Microsoft deals with publishers it acquires, is Zenimax. When does Starfield come out on Playstation again?
Irrelevant because it's a single player game.

And that's why the 10 year deal won't be enough. It won't be just about parity either, subscription service and cloud is a concern of the EC and cloud is a concern of the CMA, and CMA are looking far in to he future beyond 10 years.

I have no idea what the EC and CMA will end up deciding in the end, but if we look at their concerns MS will need to find a way of allowing cod on competitor cloud services(existing and future) at a fair price.

Factual inaccuracies, referencing the US political climate and likening the acquisition to Trump's campaign tactics etc. Some of that is still there so it wasn't a complete re-write anyway.

He used the word "Trumpian" once when talking about Brad Smith's presentation. That is a long way from "likening the acquisition to Trump's campaign tactics ".

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

This line is still there

Now this kind of rhetoric clearly goes down well with gamers. And it’s the sort of language that won Trump a lot of support in the US. But this isn’t the US

Nobody notices factual inaccuracies when it's in articles that go with whatever PR tide is happening. It's always when someone dares to go against it that the microscopes come out.

It's a thing that happens in all walks of life, not just this deal.

Just out of interest are deals like that normally part of an NDA between ATVI and the platform holder? If so how would Brad Smith be allowed to disclose that info - he presumably was only entitled to access because of their acquisition offer ? If not, and the leaked agreement (IIRC we all read awhile back is real), then isn't Brad misrepresenting the deal in the tweet?

IIRC the deal would still give PlayStation first refusal to continue the marketing rights with an unacquired ATVI beyond then, and even if acquired does that deal of first refusal still apply to MSFT owning ATVI?

It is a completely accurate allegory. That bullshit Lulu posted is entirely Trumpian.

He bowed to a twitter mob. Changing his tone in the article doesn't make what he said untrue.

If he really believed in his words, he wouldn't have changed it.

Just a tangent, between Dringg and Jordan Middler, two VGC contributors have retracted things they said yesterday as poor or in Jordan's case, inflammatory. Not a good look.

This very much sounds like a thread.
This sounds to me like they're saying "if we don't get Activision, we will just make an exclusivity deal in 2025"

So, hyperthetically and of course massive hyperthetical because it would be insane to do it. But say, after all this, if the deal didn't go through and there was so much bullshit activision pissed off, microsoft pissed off...

...if Microsoft made an actual full exclusivity deal with Activision on call of duty they could do it from 2025 onwards?

Would everyone be OK with that? Seems like people were happy for MS to buy timed exclusivity deals.

So, Activision could accept a deal with MS where all future cods are exclusive to xbox and PC for 2 years from launch for like the next 10 to 15 years.

That seems crazy dangerous if that's possible.

So basically, the usual Activision could put it on these platforms but they haven't and Microsoft have signed a deal to promise these platforms the games...but that's bad.

And the rest of it is what could happen in 10 to 15 years?
But no immediate concerns then?
Lol. What are you, a lemming? Everything is fine until you are falling off the cliff?

Everyone knows that the publicity stunt this week was meant to persuade the CMA. They were convincing with a lot of folks, and unsurprisingly, the gullible lot that have been eating their bullshit for years.

The Nintendo stuff could very well be cloud versions of COD and at that point, who cares? It might as well have never come back to the platform. I don’t ever want to play COD on the go with joycon stick drift, Nintendo online, and cloud-based input lag. To Microsoft this very well might meet their definition of parity but to people playing the games, it is far from it.

They literally said that the switch version will be assigned the development teams required to ensure it was a performant and not gimpedmversion of the game.

I guess you didn't read and just think Nintendo would sign such an important deal for a cloud version....

It's obviously for switch 2.

Everyone is too busy taking swipes at eachother instead of discussing the acquisition. We Don't seem to be any closer to knowing what's gonna actually happen. How will Microsoft get all 3 regulators to approve?
As far as I see it, especially considering CMA objections they won't.

I am not sure MS will be able to get this deal done with their current strategy.

Again, only the tone changed. It isn't like he did a 180. He certainly did not.

And Middler's retraction was entirely different. He ignorantly called out the entire Xbox fanbase. Not even remotely the same thing. Are you seriously trying to rope Dring in with Middler?

People won't like it but yes i'd be okay with that. Its a completley different thing.
