It will be really interesting to see what they come up with for the surface pro 4 in light of all the recent competition suddenly happening (Lenovo, Dell XPS, iPad Pro, etc)

I have a feeling the end game of all this will be a perfect blend between tablets and laptops. But that might not happen for a while.

If it's a big enough leap, I may sell my Surface Pro 3 and pick up the Surface Pro 4. If not, I'll definitely make the plunge with the next iteration thereafter.

New phones for them? Man it feels like its been a while. Excited for fans of the OS, I know they have been waiting for a while.

The surface pro improves dramatically each iteration. I wonder how much the Pro 4 will improve

I would love a Surface aimed for gaming, with a egpu dock and all that. Plus they would expand continuum to support big tv mode and controller navigation.

Really looking forward to the Band 2.
The first one showed a lot of promise, I hope they nail it with this one (and also that they do a proper global launch!).

Same. I love my surface, but I feel it's on the cusp of something amazing. I just don't know if Microsoft will do much different just 1 year later. Especially due to how they handled windows 10 roll out on surfaces, which I still haven't gotten due to piss poor reception on surface.

I'm not even sure what I want.... So hopefully they will show it to me :p. Better cooling so we can truly use the specs to the fullest, pen improvements, weight, better (hell, a usable) camera, might be enough to sell the pro 3

The new Surface needs a kickstand that is snappy again, I don't like the squishy one of the Surface 3 (it always feels like I'm forcing it and something is going to break)

It has been a LONG TIME. The Lumia 1520 was announced at Nokia World 2013 on October 22nd. Icon aka 930 released February 2014.

All I want from the Surface Pro 4 is an anti-reflective screen and iPad levels of quietness without heat.

core M would give you fanless and therefore quiet. Normal i3/5/7 would have to have fans.

I'd be up for a combination of both - maybe core M i3/i5, and then full skylake i5/i7 so you can choose power or quietness.

I don't know about the anti reflective screen, but if you want a fan-less device like the Surface, check out the Lenovo Miix 700. The Surface Pro 4 is not going to be heat and fan-less.

Apart from the obvious I think they'll have a cheap media app and stream box with the new Xbox One UI. Discless 360 is possible but I think it's just too slow and will lack long term and new support for apps.

Surface Mini with stylus. Think it's a risk without the apps but got to start somewhere.

If there's any place for the 'XBOX Mini', this is probably the place. I still think it'll happen. $150, uses the ONE's 360 emulation, and a Windows 10 interface. Gets them at perfect parity with Apple TV, plus a better games lineup.

SP4 day one. Will give the SP3 to my girlfriend. Please be fanless.

Wouldn't that see the need for Core M type in the new Apple Macbook which I remember reading isn't that great in comparison to i5 etc. More likely it's the sort of thing they should stick in the non pro models.

Hopefully they finally fix the atrocious bugs of Win 10 for this Surface. I really doubt they'll get away with basic shit like sleep mode not working, styluses becoming unusable after sleep wake-up, and overheating + battery drain issues.

I hope the Band 2 is much improved over the first one. I'm really curious about that one.

Personally, I'd take a low-end Core M model for 799 over an i3 version, if the SP3 is any indication.

When have they ever streamed something on Xbox that isn't related to Xbox? Not saying a mini is confirmed, maybe a 360 redesign like others are saying.

But something Xbox related.

Nice. Cant wait for the drop in price of the Surface Pro 3. I have feeling it will also be the big ticket item come black Friday.

I'm thinking if they don't make a discless 360, they might make an Xbox that only plays 360 games but is more powerful and suited to Windows 10, apps etc. but way cheaper than an Xbox One. It seems a bit crazy but I think they really want a box under the TV that can compete, 360 is slow, Xbox One is too expensive and bulky, not time for a slim yet. So, they make something new that takes the great 360 catalogue and bundles that with the new Xbox One UI, Windows 10 apps etc. and sell for 150 bucks.

Most likely this if they were to announce a Xbox-related product.

EDRAM is cheaper than ESRAM, and in the CPU market, Intel shares the same design as they chose EDRAM.

the i3 SP3 was artificially gimped though. They used a haswell-Y model, rather than the -U they used for the i5/i7 so it had a really slow clockspeed and no turbo.

I've seen a few benchmarks for ultrabooks and tablets where core M chips can perform in the same ballpark as i5-U CPUs as they are less likely to throttle due to heat. So I could see a decent core M based surface pro 4 performing well.

Updated OP with some rumored specs and features for 950/XL and SP4.

I had read about that iris scanner thing in previous leaks/rumors, but I still find it weird. Are you supposed to stick your eye close to the scanner ? A fingerprint reader seems much more convenient for a phone (or any other device, really).

I'm not sure how it works. I just know that's been the rumor. Supposedly it would run cool enough to not need a fan and won't throttle down like SP3. We'll see though.
