Microsoft in early stages of working on a remaster of Halo: Combat Evolved and is considering it on PlayStation 5

I'd take a remaster of 1-4, why not? And to PS5, why not?
Then when Halo 7 or whatever number we are on comes out and it's exclusive, everyone wants an Xbox! Xboxes for everyone! Same strategy as Sony on PC! LOL

I don't see much of a point for this remaster.

About the PS5 release, at this point I think they really should start doing it already. Just release everything everywhere, and let people decide where to buy.

You really pride youself as the one with the cleft asshole?

They didn't even need to buy bungie at this point. They just needed to play the waiting game.

Remake the remake? Is the classic graphics in MCC not effectively "remastered" at 4K 120? I don't understand this at all.

Interesting, I guess Gears is not far off the cards either.

That's not true at all. Halo CE in MCC is just fine. Just played it recently on PC and it was awesome.

They play fine, but they are missing a few graphic effects when Gearbox ported it to the PC in 2003, which was then used for the Master chief collection. It was of the era when consoles often have access to graphics features that were difficult to implement on PC, so console ports were often botched.

Although this is no longer the case with the latest versions.

Oh yea, it was in a rough state for a while there for sure.. but from what I could tell most things have been fixed up since a while back.

IMO it's the most easily accessible, and thus best way to play the games these days.

Now that said, I'd rather they remake/remaster the original Gears Trilogy instead of doing Halo again.

First of all, I don't believe it.

Secondly, if true, it just shows that the industry is averse to original games and why it's failing.

It's why, for all the hate it has received, I applaud Bethesda, CDPR and Sucker Punch for trying something new with AAA budgets.

Honestly I'd be down if they basically just remade Halo in unreal assuming they can keep the graphics truer to the original this time unlike mcc. Halo 2 anniversary did a lot better job of staying true to it's graphics unlike Halo Anniversay.

Also it would give them the ability to learn to make halo in unreal while having the baseline of the original game to test against. After that was perfected them I could see Halo 2, 3, ODST and other remakes in the new unreal engine. It would also mean profit if indeed these remade versions where to release on PS5 also.

All this said like any rumor take worth a grain of salt at best.

That's remastered not a remake. A remake would use all new current gen assets, animation technology and AI advancements and probably expanded environments if done right.

It's getting like SONY now a remaster of a remaster. I so much rather have seen a remake of Singularity than ever more Halo remasters myself

I hope they add bots. I can't tell you the number of times I played Hang 'em High with Rockets with my sisters growing up. Endless fun.

The MCC was such a huge mess for the first couple of years. I remember being so disappointed in it in the beginning.

Id renew gamepass a month or two for this.
Put it on Playstation? I would go that route and shit- id preorder it. So i can actually own it.

Halo CEA's new graphics do kind of suck, but of course 343 has to 343 and add their stupid "modern" mechanics to it and have it done by a bunch of contractors. And of course no multi because that would cannibalize from Shitfinite.

Do I need to apologize for blaming the studio's shittiness on Mommy Ross?

It seems to make financial sense, at least to me. Rather than porting MCC, which would deliver 6 Halo games to PS5 owners all in one package, Microsoft can instead dole them out one at a time, over time, charging premium price for each one, separately. That's a lot more money in Microsoft's pockets than "Buy one, get five free" with porting the MCC.

I assume plenty of PS5 owners would be willing to pay a premium for remastered Halo games, especially the first three. Microsoft would be able to sell them to the Xbox audience, too.

Makes sense to me. I don't know whether it's actually happening, but I can see the financial rationale.

Maybe the new idea is to give the competition a taste of Halo and try to get them invested enough to buy into the Xbox ecosystem with Halo 7.
