It's more representative of real world games, but I don't think they had to do this. The machine can run games up to 1440p resolution (and even 4K) so the original advertisements were correct. Secondly, PS5 and Series X are advertised as 4K machines but it's rare to find games running in 4K...

Yeah, because we should certainly draw blanket conclusions about advertisement based on one spec based on one game.

There are 1440p and above games and there are games that are 120fps.
It's no different to XSX and PS5 not hitting 4k and 120fps. Series S probably has more 120fps games than the PS5, have Sony got any first party 120fps games?

Up to 1440p... If you want up to the 4K, you should get the XSEX, this never confused me... Only thing confusing was the name when the XBONEX was still around..

Now it's super clear, Games will be made for the S (target up to1080p60 now apparently) rendered and upscaled up to 4k on the X.

IMO base should have been XSEX, but, i do get where MS is coming from with this S model.
