With Windows.

Their living room gaming hardware - it's totally separate from MS, a different division! Not a PC. It's got a totally different OS and interface.

But then down the line, MS bridges the gap and combines the two.

Windows 10 on your Xbox One 0

A PC undercover as a games console, with replaceable parts, a fully couch/handheld friendly Xbox interfaced part of Windows. Which communicates with all your devices, and can even stream to them. With everything you'd expect from a PC. All in one, slowly introducing a PC to the living room through video games.

Who can compete with that?

-Edit: Apple? They're behind the ball with bigger games. Windows always needed mobile support and to be better with games, and they made separate interfaces and OS and spent money learning how...

It makes sense to combine that at some point.

"Why should I buy an $499 Xbox when I can buy a $99 Amazon/Apple/Roku box and do all my streaming and music needs...hell why even buy those when I can buy a Chromecast? Hell I just wanna watch Netflix and my TV has it built in"

Rule is a strong word. But if they play their cards right, which they never do btw. They can be a very significant player.

Haven't they been attempting to do this for decades now? I don't own a single Microsoft device or piece of software. So to answer your question: "who can compete with that?"... my answer is: "anyone"?

Maybe they should get to the point where you can replace your hard drive in their actual game console first.

What you're describing here is exactly what they were trying in 2013 with the Xbox One.

They didn't exactly achieve living room domination. Don't you think?

Also, the amount of weird threads seems to be rising strongly since Scorpio reveal.

I dunno what any of that really means to me for gaming. I swear some people are more concerned about a company's success rather than games, like people who want Nintendo to drop consoles and release only on mobile, the argument being about profit. I don't care about profit, I'm a fan of good video games. Not as a slight but as a statement, let me know when Microsoft makes good video games and I'll be there.

Consoles are (cost) efficient because they are closed boxes. The cons of a modular console heavily outweighs the pro. And Windows? I honestly think in 5 years time children between 8-12 will never have used it.

Too bad for MS Windows 10 for games is shit.

What do you mean?

I would say it is an improvement from 7 or XP, as far as performance goes, and i cant really see any downsides in general when it comes to games.
The windows 10 store, and the UWP apps need some work before they are fine with mods and other stuff that pc takes for granted, but they are improving.

Ehehehehehehehe

Edit: Oh wait, you're being serious?

You think a PC with replaceable parts is going to be the future? Good luck with that...

Only if they'll release any actual exclusive games.
Right now the drought on actual Xbone exclusives for the past year is a desert now, I'm hoping they'll have a bunch to reveal at E3.

everyone's said this shit since the 90's and the only winners have been pay tv companies and cheap things that play online subscriptions
