Microsoft is eventually going to rule gaming

Didn't read the whole thread, admittedly, but:

yeah windows sure is on the up and up lol
That's measuring by percentage of web access. All you've really proven is the increasing share of mobile devices and tablets.

In terms of actual game access on PC, Windows still has a dominant share.

Including the TV as a PC

I thought it was obvious.

It's an Xbox but also a PC that works with everything in case you are set up on the couch. Including the TV as a PC.

I thought it was obvious.

In 2001 it was obvious. In 2017 it's a niche feature the mass market couldn't care less about.

Microsoft should think about skating to where the puck is going instead of where it used to be.

With Windows.

Their living room gaming hardware - it's totally separate from MS, a different division! Not a PC. It's got a totally different OS and interface.

But then down the line, MS bridges the gap and combines the two.

Windows 10 on your Xbox One 0

A PC undercover as a games console, with replaceable parts, a fully couch/handheld friendly Xbox interfaced part of Windows. Which communicates with all your devices, and can even stream to them. With everything you'd expect from a PC. All in one, slowly introducing a PC to the living room through video games.

Who can compete with that?

-Edit: Apple? They're behind the ball with bigger games. Windows always needed mobile support and to be better with games, and they made separate interfaces and OS and spent money learning how...

It makes sense to combine that at some point.

I did say with a couch friendly OS.

Xbox owners would care. So would anyone interested in a dedicated gaming system (that does even more). That's a hell of a bonus, not to mention the PC games catalogue added to "Xbox".
Including emulators.

Nintendo foresaw MS's living room ambition which is why they've staked their flag in the bathroom.
This post right here makes the entire thread worth reading. Excellent good sir!

As for the main topic: this is literally a compilation of the hundreds of threads saying the same thing with some variation. But I don't agree.

Couch friendly solutions already exist on the PC.

Are you high by any chance?

"The PC". Not an Xbox or anything by MS.

Are you, by any chance, bitter about this prospect?

Why would I be bitter about something that has no chance of ever happening?

And wtf is "the PC"?

Anyway, continue with the fanfiction.

My PC isn't in the living room and MS didn't sell the box or the parts.

Very important... YOUR.
Your experience of a PC is not equal to everyone's experience of a PC.

Also, it seems you're just a Microsoft fanboy that wants to make one corporation richer...

What would a Microsoft all in one device even need to do? New TVs have any app for any service you're a member of built directly into the TV. My TV remote has dedicated buttons just for Netflix and Amazon video. Why would I need anything streamed to my tablet from another device, when it's already connected to the internet by itself?

they will lose market share because directx wont be the hotness from here on out because vulkan is here to stay. supporting a ton of os's

i'd be interested op, i've said before it would be cool if Scorpio could run full Windows and play your steam games and shit. thats the problem tho, valve would be making more money than them. i am in agreement tho that they could still pick up some scraps ( an xbox/ windows store game here, an extra controller there) the drivers would probably be a hassle to figure out for ms and jaguar cpu is so shit, maybe next gen.

like others said tho, they're seemingly more interested in making pc a console than the other way around.

I would love if it fully integrates Steam, Origin, uPlay etc, but I worry they would be tempted to have the Xbox mode designed around windows store games, adding other games through shortcuts with less fancy extras.

I mean Windows is obviously the most used platform for PC gaming so they do have that... but the windows store is absolutely horrible to purchase games through so they need to work on their distribution or just get over it and partner with steam.

I think they've been trying to turn to Windows as a gaming platform rather than XBOX but it seems like they're doing it the wrong way. The XBOX One isn't a disaster but it's the worst way to play triple A games this generation so we'll have to see what Scorpio is officially before we can talk about Microsoft's future with certainty.

In order to rule Gaming, company would need amazing games that can't be played elsewhere along with UNPRECEDENTED 3rd party support.

Those are all stores. MS won't give up the whole system of profits. You don't seem to understand how consoles work.

OP is pretty weird. At first I read it as that MS going to dominate ALL gaming because of integrated Windows platform. After a reread to make sure, it seems by gaming it only means console gaming. Nevertheless, PC is an open platform. Just because fucktons of games run on Windows, MS gains nothing from it. Considering the majority of PC gaming concentrated on Steam, you can't say MS rule gaming as long as they don't have their own store platform that equal to it. This thread is just don't make any sense and seemingly out of context.

That describes the PC, specifically Windows.

Microsoft doesn't own PC gaming, Valve pretty much does. Considering the state of the Windows Store, unless MS plans to literally block Steam, they have a snowball's chance in hell of recovering a lot of PC gamers' trust.

PC has no games.

Game companies won't make games on a living room PC by MS, neither will MS.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

literally what the absolute fuck are you talking about dude? Is this a joke thread?

Not sure why iOS and Android are in that chart?

They're not desktop OSes. In the end, doesn't Microsoft all but own PC gaming? I mean, almost all PC gaming is done on a Windows PC?

You're in their ecosystem kinda whether you like it or not.

Before this gets locked, Skyzard will change all our minds and prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that he's not making anything up and he's the Video Game Nostradamus.
