Microsoft is increasing the prices of Xbox Series consoles in the US... again.

Wouldn't it be smarter to discontinue them? At these prices, no one will buy them anymore. Or are Xboxes no longer being produced?

You could have literally bought a PS5 bundle with Black ops 6 in June for the price of a toaster Series S today. You could buy a 2TB PS5 Pro for the price of the 2TB Series X. Yet somehow people were championing the idea that we need xbox for console price competition. What competition are xbox offering? They're the ones gouging customers.

Glad I got my used slim PS5 couple months ago for $280

These companies are out of control

I would see Series S on Facebook all day for $125-$150 and these FUCKING morons want $400 for that 8 year old hardware? basically an Xbox One X with an SSD and better CPU

Seems like Microsoft is completely determined not to lose a cent on any console sold. I think this doesn't foreshadow affordable pricing being their priority next-gen.

all of a sudden I don't feel confident about that Xbox Ally X at $899 Topher Topher
They've been cagey over the pricing for a reason imo.

Asus stuff never comes cheap, but now I think we sadly may enter stratospheric pricing.

There's no way in hell Sony and Microsoft can launch a $650 (minimum) next gen console and keep going business as usual.

I'm not a business expert but I'd be pausing my next gen hardware plans if the goal isn't to make it as cheap and cost effective as possible.

We are in for a spec pause for a decade until the decent tools can be streamlined, game development costs can come down, and the economy and cool down. The industry can't keep going at this pace.
Best time to go for the Biggest Technological Leap for Xbox ever no matter the cost you said… right? —Bond, Sarah Bond

I see Twitter blaming it all on Trump, I honestly don't follow much of that stuff. How about it's a combination of that and just pure greed by a mega corporation? Absolute insanity.

Wait until Sony does it again two weeks later, and then Nintendo, no one wants to sell at loss and no one absolutely will eat any extra costs that governments incurr to them

Because the consoles are made in China which are hit the hardest from the tariffs.

How on earth it cost more than the already super expensive PS5 Pro? Like seriously, how?

There is no way in hell the parts of that 5 years old garbage cost anywhere close to this.

Did someone lie to them and tell them that by increasing the price, they would sell more?

A management can't be this dense. Something is wrong.

The tariffs are higher from China. Sony makes the US bound consoles in Vietnam which have lower rates.

I don't want to check the numbers right now but you want to bet Sony's and Microsoft's software revenue(which includes their store) is multiple times what they make on hardware?

If they want to completely kill the brand in the USA, they're on the right track. A digital Series X is $150 more expensive than a digital PS5, or a 2tb Series X for $800, more expensive than a PS5 Pro, crazy.

The Switch 2 is $450
The Switch 2 is the flagship console from Nintendo that just came out.

The Series S was...honestly a bad buy the day it came out in 2020 and it's a much worse buy today.

These things aren't the same.

Back in the day I always decided what was good or not by my recommendations. I could never recommend the XSS this gen but especially now when Xbox has failed and the console is just not good. I would feel bad for the person I recommended the XSS to in 2020. I'm a proud XSX owner.

It's mostly due to Tariffs.

Companies are greedy but not this stupid, they know the price increases will hurt them.

The fact that they did this twice is definitely because of the tariff situation because this move makes zero sense if thats not the case.
