Microsoft's lack of attempt at damage control is hilarious.
They must REALLY live in a fucking bubble if they think this is gonna go well for them.
or they think whatever they got under their sleeves is good enough to "endure" these times.

And still no denial of always online.
honestly I don't know what the furor is about. If there's enough features to warrant the always-on system then it deserves to be in there. I've used my system w/ no internet from time to time, but it's rare enough that I wouldn't count it as a dealbreaker (though obviously it will put the PS4 in a slightly more favorable light).
We've survived worse things in gaming history, such as wholesale adoption of controllers over mouse/KB for playing shooters. The upshot that time was greatly increased accessibility and convenience. Long as there's something to always-on aside from piracy protection on MS's side, this is going to be a nonissue.
Its going to be amusing when this is all debunked.
I received an official statement from Microsoft a few minutes ago, via their PR agency Edelman:
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/...ll-require-always-on-internet-connection.aspx
he statement reads as follows:
"We are aware of the comments made by an employee on Twitter. This person is not a spokesperson for Microsoft, and his personal views are not reflective of those of the company. We have not made any announcements about our product roadmap, and have no further comment on this matter."
And still no denial of always online.
Forcing an internet connection to be required to play single player games is a Bad Thing, but that reason is pretty weak. You going to add the electricity or cost of the TV/monitor, or the food you eat to have the energy to play, or...?
I love how they link to shinobi's user profile and the first thing you see is his avatar.
I could've sworn the posts where people screenshotted him as logged in preceded the ones where people tweeted responses to his "challenge" back to him. But alas I am not detective GAF enough to prove this.I just had to ask:
Such a terrible analogy.
And still no denial of always online.
LOL!
GOLD!
oh come on, now you're just TRYING to get people to think you're a brat.
Why wouldn't Microsoft just come outright and say it then?
"If we were working a new console, it would not have always online requirements"
Squash that bug before it spreads to major media outlets and save face.
Hint:Because it does have it

A little off topic (not sure if it was already posted or new thread worthy):

I think the issue is that he is paid to offer his opinion. He's paid to write. He's paid to comment. Something as big is this, picked up by non-gaming media even ... and he's done nothing. It says a lot.
If you can't put a few comments in a thread of 1000's to make a constructive statement on the matter then you aren't doing your job. And if you can only sling insults at others trying to find out more then you aren't only not doing your job, but you're doing the company you represent a disservice.
You can't deny something that's true and then go back on your denial afterwards. And still no denial of always online.
"ugh why dont they just moveThere are other people in the world who don't always have connections at all times. Military men, college kids who cant afford it, places where the internet infrastructure is garbage.

That is amazing.and
The first is only after 5,000 replies. The second is a godly gif that awa64 is getting too rattled about.
It's happening. MS would have flatout denied it if nothing was happening.
Always online is happening.
So whatever happened to the supposed April conference? Did the rumors surrounding that just die off?

So this is going to be the fail of the year right? What a douch this sweet bully is
They can't deny it, because if they did, it would imply/confirm the existence of the Xbox 720.

Not necessarily. Microsoft could have said something like
"We would never implement something so anti-consumer that alienates our fans and customers."
