Besides like... a router... um... is there any other piece of consumer electronics that would be as worthless as Nextbox without an internet connection?

I can still use my router to make a network between my computers, consoles, etc and stream/transfer files and so on. man

I just woke up what the hell goings on

Now the Associated Press is reporting it.

Linky?

My whole view point stems from the fact that I have a friend that routinely pirates his games. Gets them before they launch at retail. Said friend makes fun of me because and this is a direct quote "It's not my fault you're to stupid to figure out how to play burnt games" Fact of the matter is I don't play tons of games. Hell, I just picked up Fallout New Vegas on my PC on sale and I am having a blast with it. Haven't touched any other game in weeks! Companies are in this to make money. Always have been, always will be. A lot of you guys posting remind me of said friend. Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Game Devolpers are not in business to make friends. They are just trying to turn a profit. Pirates want to deny them that right, then they will have to recoup that money some other way. Here's another talking point. I think games should cost more than $59.99.

Anyway past my bed time.

I have NO idea what the hell this post has to do with anything. Go to bed, man.

Let's just make our cars stop running if they aren't connected to the internet too, while we're at it.

I buy a car and I pay for gas and maintenance, therefore, I expect it to work if I keep up with those criteria.

So if I buy an Xbox and I pay for my electricity to power it and I take care of it, I expect it to work at all times.

Yes, joking. I just thought it was funny that we were getting increasingly more bigger/more credible sources.

I don't think you would have to. If MS doesn't respond it's going to gain national attention, especially for being anti consumer.

Not liking the system side rumors for Durango, but I'm liking the games rumors. I 'll reserve judgement until an official reveal. Still not sure if always online rumors aren't just misunderstanding of a low power state thats also connected to wifi or online mandatory. ONly time will tell...

I'm just saying.

Either they both have such a system implemented; or

Microsoft is going to have all the 3rd party support and Sony is going to have shitty 3rd party support like the Wii U; or

Neither is going to have online DRM

Take your pick.

Or you can continue to bury your head in the sand. That's an option, too!

That explains why Jaffe stood up for him here earlier then. They worked together for awhile.

What's going to happen is both will get equal support. If PS4 Sells as many games, nobody will be dropping it. If PS4 sells more due to higher install base they will drop 720 support.

I think maybe you had a little to much 420.

If people do not buy the system with the always online DRM they wont be getting any support after the launch window money hatted games.

We are talking about a GAMING CONSOLE. it's not life or death. Read a book, smoke some hookah, pet a duck...

Or buy a console that isn't completely fucking stupid.

Yeah, all those announced ps4 multiplats must not be real or something. Darn.

Yep, I will never buy an always online hardware ever. I don't care if that dooms me to the dinosaur graveyard. There are already enough games made to date to keep me happy for the rest of my gaming life.

Penguins&PolarBears = Adam Orth?

was this ever sussed out by DetectiveGAF? either way his full post history is a shill-parade laugh riot.

I sadly enough had a conversation this morning with a colleague who was excited to have a console with "the most online". He was assured that his internet connection has never been unstable and even if it would drop a few times per year, he wouldn't mind too much. I hope it wasn't representative of the average gamer. If consumers are this lenient on the matter, I can see more console manufacturers and publishers adopting this with open arms.

That right there is absolute poison.

And the narrative keeps on rolling . . .

The perception: this is how Microsoft really feels about gamers. This gaffe is Romney-esque. The parallels are staggering, right down to the elitist detachment. Their latest strategic decisions around advertising on Xbox 360 and kinect helped to build this, btw.

If Sony were smart, they'd assemble an online services announcement ASAP. Why not? Their console is announced. The details will get lost in E3. It's a great way to counter-message against this GIFT they've been given.

Key message: We care about ALL gamers.

Low Hanging Fruit Sony. Grab a basket and go!!!

Care about gamers... do people still buy into this shit? I mean if you're 14 you don't know better, but come on.

SimCity 5

But to be fair, its hard to tell the difference between when your internet is working and when its not.

BF4, Destiny, Diablo 3, Witcher 3, Theif, Watch_Dogs etc are all already confirmed for the PS4.

Seriously? People are saying gaf posters are similar to pirates by not supporting this? Well guess who is still going to suffer when the pirated bypasses the system?

Then there's the people who say the masses will buy it anyway...do you play games for games or do you play for sales and company profit? IF YOU WANT TO DEFEND THIS TELL ME HOW IT IS GOOD TO GAMERS NOT SOME CORPORATION.

Yeah, no third party support. No Thief 4. No Diablo 3. No Destiny. No Battlefield 4. No Witcher 3. No Final Fantasy. No Watch_Dogs. No Assassin's Creed IV. That's surely what's happening.

It's entirely impossible for Microsoft to make a decision that they think will benefit them that people don't like. It's not like they charge for access to the online portion of your games. Or they rolled out a product with fundamental flaws that resulted in unacceptable failure rates.
