Miitomo |OT| A new way of COMMUnication

Question of the Day?

"What's something popular right now that you're like to learn more about?"

After the first three answers I looked at were Switch I was surprised that overall Switch was only 8 out of 19 answers including my own.

everyone knows Nintendo is snooping on our answers

TIL you can agree to make a photo right after changing clothes and then will still get the opportunity to post said photo as an answer.

Room customisation will pull me back in I think...

First New Leaf and now this, what's happening!?

This one makes a bit more sense since Miitomo's only a year old now, and I think Nintendo thought their first F2P Mobile game would still be active. It's still really late for them to be doing anything, but at least it's not updating a complete-feeling, 3-year old life sim.

That said, I could get my Room Customization fill in New Leaf, even before the update. And now that I already have the Mini-Ridley, I don't feel as motivated to tap on the app anymore; everyone else I know bailed on Miitomo in May, and even then they stuck with it far later than most.

Miitomo's install size still gets me. If it wasn't 900mb and growing, I'd keep it on my phone. For what it is, it seems a bit crazy to me.

I agree, It's over 1GB now with data, I have it on my SD card, but sometimes when it goes to update it seems to want to update the whole thing and I don't have the room on my phones internal storage to install so I can then move it to my SD, Nintendo used to be the best at file size and optimisation, I simply cannot understand why something as simple as MiiMoto requires a 1GB file size.

All those outfits have to go somewhere.

I actually uninstalled and then reinstalled Miitomo a while back. Freed up around 250MB or so. Still stupidly huge, but mine had grown well past 1.1GB.

A couple of months ago I had a problem with Miimoto and it wouldn't load up, so I uninstalled and then downloaded again and mine is an 1GB now.

Why is the file so big, it cannot be the clothes surely? If it's big now how big is this"major" update going to be! I don't think that I will be able to get it on my phone.

I'd guess it is a combination of clothes and Miifotos. There's really quite a lot of both.

Twice the size of Fast Racing - Neo (556MB [without updates/DLC]) though?

Nintendo must be able to reduce the size of it surely, maybe a way to delete the photos and also only store the data for clothes you actually own, because if it's 1GB now with clothes what's it going to be like with furniture for the room/house?

Bringing Shin'en into these kinds of comparisons is just unfair. They do tons of procedural and compression wizardry. Chances are, Miitomo assets are just high enough quality and abundance that they just add up.

Of course, if someone with a rooted phone decided to look around at the files, we could probably definitely determine what they are.

Also, it needs all the clothes at all times so it can display other people. Unless you want to be redownloading stuff from the server constantly, which is not a good look for a game that will often be running on a metered connection.

What version of Android do you have? My old phone on KitKat had a 1 GB Miitomo app data size, but on my newer Marshmallow phone it's only 83 MB. One of the new features of the v2 update says, "Smaller app size. Data saving has been improved, resulting in a smaller, sleeker app," so hopefully they found a way to cut down on the size for everyone.

My old phone was indeed rooted, and as you surmised, it was indeed storing all of the clothing. A lot of the bloat was also due to photos. I monitor data usage on my new phone and it does download from the server constantly when looking at new clothes in the shop.

I just realized they took away the 10 coin bonus for listening to 10 answers...
Damn… They had better not also taken away the coins you get for that…

Oh, they also removed the change-clothes reward! So in effect they just extended that old mission to posting the outfit on the Central…

2 missions removed, 3 added.

It says you can get a Fire Mario outfit by signing in 7 days in a row, but it says you're supposed to get 1,000 coins for signing in on the first day, and I didn't get them.

it's probably because you already signed in "today" before the update hit, so it won't count till tomorrow (morning)

so what are the new daily missions and what are the removed ones?

New daily MyN missions:
1) Answer a question at some centre: 3 silver.
2) Share your getup at some centre: 5 silver.
3) Pester a friend with a pm: 5 silver.

Wait, they removed the change clothes reward? So we actually LOST two coins a day? That's kinda lame.

Edit: Or wait, I'm misremembering, the 10 answers listened to bonus was 5 coins. Oops. Edited my previous post too.

I dunno if it's a bug or what but all my outfits have seemingly been broken by the update

it says this combination of clothes can no longer be worn together

...and it says that for all of them

Wow, they've fixed so many issues this is great.

They still haven't removed completed Missions from the list or shown a way to determine when your friends were last active though...

I thought posters would be restricted to just Miifotos, but apparently anything goes.

As a bonus whatever you choose lurks in the background of any of your comment feeds.

I tapped 500 coins during the download after the update.

You guys also got the Luigi outfit (together with Mario, once again)?

There's also an option for 'Star Accounts' to visit your room, guess it's an update of the special Mii's that would visit your Streetpass Plaza by Spotpass.
