Milly Alcock cast as Supergirl

I enjoyed Woman of Tomorrow when I read it a while back. It’s a fun, cosmic take on True Grit with great art.

I liked Alcock in House of the Dragon so I’m interested to see how she does with this. It’s quite a different version of Kara than we usually see. I wonder if they’ll keep the swearing in.

Which remains a really, really bad idea.

I don't agree. Well, as far as Waller is concerned. I can take or leave Peacemaker... Even though the show was really good! Viola Davis is GREAT as Amanda Waller ... I'm glad she wasn't recast or dropped. And unfortunately, CCH Pounder is too old for the role in live action now.

Nothing wrong with Amanda Davis.

Whole shit load wrong with confusing your audience about whether you're rebooting or not.

They needed to make a clean break from the shitty DCEU.

I think part of what they've done right (and by 'they' I mean Zaslav) is getting rid of the old guard who continually messed with everything in the movies. They DON'T love the characters or stories... Even Hamada being gone was a good thing, even though he barely had any power at WB... The LAST Snyderverse movie was The Flash (it was directly connected to ZSJL) and while I liked it A LOT, I'm glad that was the swan song of the DCEU...

The other part they've done right is Gunn and Safran, making them co-CEOs of the now established DC Studios (contrary to some belief, it's a new thing ... DCEU was just Warner Bros.) ...

I think the audience will see it's a new universe when Superman Legacy comes out. Even though a lot of people still don't know DC isn't part of Marvel ... I'm glad I have normie friends who actually pay attention and know the difference. LoL

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
She was pretty standout in GoT. I actually had a hard time adjusting to her “older” replacement. Fortunately she was also a great actor, so it did work out.

* realized my comment doesn't really make sense. i was thinking she needed to be at least a little muscular. *shrug

I like her but damn, she is like 90 pounds soaking wet, I want my buff Supergirl! The recent Flash Kara was really good. Though for my money the jock version from that Super hero Girls show is the best reinterpretation.

They need an Olivia Dunn type gymnast for this. At least Milly has the classic look.

Kind of looks like she has downs but whatever.

The comic the movie is based on is great. It's a sort of retelling of True Grit where Supergirl is Rooster Cogburn.

Should have been Sydney Sweeney
Nah, she is more of a Power Girl.

if you know what i mean eyebrow wiggle GIF

Yes. The whole thing is rebooted... New Superman, New Batman, new everything except for Peacemaker and Waller.
They're stupid with not going with, Henry. I would have rebooted and STILL went with him. Fuck suspension of disbelief, we know what movies are and how they work.

Not yet sure if she will work in this role, but Alcock was fantastic as Rhaenyra in House of the Dragon. She definitely has potential

Capeshit are dying and WB is making a fucking Supergirl movie, you can't make this shit up Hollywood is so hilariously out of touch
Facts, I'm going to quote myself here. These studios have lost the plot completely! Also Past Lives was my favorite movie last year, likely of all time.

Meh, honestly I'm shocked how much I'm enjoying stuff from studios like Blumhouse and A24 than trying to keep these megagojira studios open that have clearly lost the plot of what makes people go to the movies to begin with. I don't want another Alien, I don't care that Deadpool paid Hugh Jackman to revive himself as Wolverine, who honestly cares about Pixar movies anymore, I'm just over it and it's clear many others are.

Casino Royale did just fine with keeping Judi Dench as M.

True, but I don't think previous Bond movies had the massive stank that DCEU has on it. Also, the audience is turning away from superhero movies anyway. Any element that lets them attach new movies to previous failures is only going to make things worse.

The more recent movies have been pretty bad. And this is coming from a superhero fanboy! Ant-Man was pretty bad... Barely set up Kang as a real threat (too much tell, not enough show), no real stakes except for a bruised face, Wasp barely did anything, Ant-Man was talked down to by his daughter and we didn't see a progression of her becoming Stature... So much wrong with it!

By contrast, Dr. Strange 2, Spider-Man NWH, Guardians 3 and Wakanda Forever were arguably MUCH better movies and did GREAT at the box office (even if the only billion dollar movie was NWH, the others made their budgets back with profit)... Shang-Chi did pretty well during COVIDs second year (Aug 2021) when theaters were starting to open back up (lots of folks still afraid to be in closed spaces)... And it was well received by audiences... Even though Thor 4 made some bank, folks really turned sour on it because it wasn't a hit like Ragnarok. And believe it or not, nothing seemed connected anymore. Other than the post credit scene from Shang-Chi, it was like "So what's the overall story about? I don't get it", there was no apparent connection! Why wasn't Thor at least CONNECTING with his Avenger friends? Not even a phone call?

DC fared worse because nothing seemed to really gel with audiences... Suicide Squad tanked because it came out when things weren't going so well in 2021 with COVID... Everything else just ... Petered out. Folks soured on Ezra, it had been too long since Aquaman, Black Adam was tonally everywhere and no one knew if it was a comedy or serious (maybe too dark for DJ) ... Gunn is a Great writer so I have faith he's going to do right by Superman, Waller and Creature Commandos... Guardians 3 was SO DAMN GOOD!

By the way... she's Australian.

Seeing a lot of people on social media thinking she's a Brit because of HotD, but she's a Sydney Leichhardt girl, I believe.

But Peacemaker is kind of their Deadpool where he shits on all the other characters.

Yeah I was about to say lol even the skinniest Kryptonian could lift a semi truck on our planet. This ain’t a Wonder Woman situation. That said I’m sure they will make her do a training routine and get toned. Supergirl is known for her midriff <3

AI cock? I'm fine with them making the character transgender but they should have cast a transgender actor in the roll.
