Mission Impossible was good but the second was real lame. It was, like, M:I-2 tried hard to be a good movie, but it sucked. Woo really fucked up on that movie. Even the action sequences weren't exciting.
 
I liked the first one. MI:2 was fucking beyond horrible. The whole movie was a "OMG I'M NOT WHO YOU REALLY THOUGHT I WAS *rips off stupid mask" cheesefest. Really, how many times is that actually suprising after the first time?
 
you watch the old M:I TV show, it was a team effort.

I think doing M:I movie with a 24 production style would kick ass.

Mission: Impossible should not involve rampaged rooms and Tom Cruise with machine guns.

The first film is still amazing though.
 
I didn't suck because of Cruise, it sucked because of John fucking Woo. Had he ever directed a spy flic previously? They're not just pure action movies.
 
Cruise is doing the flavor of the month that he did with M:I2. I mean if anyone can correct the damage from M:I2 and make a good spy movie it would be JJ, but Woo was the flavor of the month back then.

Yes, because John Woo wrote the script, and he had only directed "pure action movies" before. Right.
 
It was his forte at the time he made that movie and if Woo had other talents why did he approve a screenplay that was 90-120 minutes of mainly action?

Keep in mind that I like Woo movies and I liked MI:2 when I saw it but the benefit of hindsight has left a bitter taste in my mouth probably like most of the moviegoers here. This is probably because we've have such great psychological spy thrillers such as the Bourne movies. That is what I want to see in MI movies (but as has been mentioned here with a team dynamic).
 
MI2 was wicked.

The lame dove scene? The smoking hot girl? Cruise's overacting? The absolutely incredible bike scene (best evar)?

You guys suck.
 
MI 2 does so much wrong but is so right. There is hardly a movie in there but the film is just so watchable for the action, which isn't even Woo's best. Its like a perfume commercial with guns.

Winnah! I immediately thought the same thing... MI was more like the show... MI2 is nothing like the show, it's more like another take on the spy stuff... it's XXX before there was a XXX.

But MI2 had some really cool action seqeuences...
