Pacman and Mayweather are the only reason anyone mainstream watches boxing anymore.
Mexicans Love boxing. That shit is almost religious to them. That's why the UFC is going to push Cain so much. He is their key into stealing the Mexican viewers from boxing. Best believe all the promos will talk about him being the first Mexican champ.

I'd say most young Mexican males are already MMA fans, namely UFC, and are already spending money on the PPV shows. It's the older heads who are strictly boxing, older men who aren't going to spend their money on an MMA event. However, they are more than willing to watch if someone younger is already paying for it, like maybe a son.

I see this all the time.

They sure f'ed over the San Jose card with this announcement. It was shaping up for a awesome card too.
They just need to put Cung Le, Gilbert Melendez, or Overeem on the card and everything will be alright.

Yeah, MMA already has quite a strong young Latino male fanbase, especially here in SoCal. The crowd at the Staples Center for UFC 104: Shogun vs. Machida had a large percentage of Latino attendants and they went NUTS for Cain (who fought Ben Rothwell at that event).

Bas Rutten just said on Inside MMA that Overeem told him today he is in the UFC.

So, who's getting up early in the morning to watch One FC with me?
7 am for me, I can do it since I'm not going out tonight. I hope I don't dose off at like 10 am or something though. WAR STOMPS AND SOCCER KICKS.

not really.

Bas said that he was told by Overeem's camp that it was "looking really good that we're going to see Alistair Overeem in the UFC."

hmm

They do, but UFC taking that isn't going wipe out anything substantial in boxing. Boxing will still exist, and Latino fans will still love boxing. They're not the ones providing anything substantial to boxing popularity anymore though, it's Pacman and Mayweather. Once they're gone, Latino fans or no Latino fans, boxing no longer has ANY mainstream draws left, and there isn't any obvious ones in the pipeline. And this is coming from a longtime boxing fan.

PS - We're less than 90 posts from maxing out the 20,000 post thread limit.

actually, shogun is probably the best looking out of du's now fighting in the UFC.

cain is up there.

shogun > cain > gsp.

if el canelo keeps winning you better believe he will be a good draw here in the u.s and in mexico at least. mexicans will support a rising mexican boxer even if they don't regularly watch boxing? also what do you mean they ain't providing nothing to boxing. pacmans and mayweathers next opponents are mexican. :P the are the opponents for the big ppv stars so they are providing to the popularity in a way.

Looks like watching One FC live is out of the question for me. Would've been fun.

Let me just say before I go...I don't care if he came in way out of shape for weigh-ins, it'll be his opponent who does the crying this time. WAR ANDY WANG.

I'm in till I run out of Scotch........ and rum. Like the ring, we need more fly kicks in MMA. BAS on commentary.

------

.......... so we are having a sexiest UFC mang competition......?????

And no one has mentioned Scott Jorgensen, Y'ALL MAD!?

Kongo is probably best...... physique, looks etc.
