Indeed. Least KC and Toronto lost tonight.

I know Toronto has sucked for the last month, but they didn't lose tonight. They didn't play tonight, mind you, but they also didn't have anyone go on the DL, so all things considered, it was a good day to be a Jays fan.

If you're looking for good news, though, Toronto starts a three-game series in Tampa tomorrow, though, which means that they're going to get swept going into the All-Star Break.

41 innings is a lot!!! Hersh actually went 67..

Listening to Dodgertalk and they talked about CF. With Ethier and Stache platooning it's hard to get Joc up. And Puig is gonna stay at right.

never heard about the cat, apparently
MILWAUKEE -- Ryan Braun returned to the Brewers starting lineup and was lower down in the batting order.

Braun, who has been bothered by a bad back, batted fifth in Thursday afternoon's 9-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies after sitting out the previous two contests. He went 1 for 4 with two strikeouts.

It was the first time that Braun hit fifth in the starting lineup since Sept. 14, 2008. He had been hitting second lately after starting the season batting third.

But manager Ron Roenicke said it was a matter of creating consistency at the top of the lineup. Braun also has missed games with an injured thumb and a sore oblique this season.

Braun entered Thursday hitting .291 with 11 homers and a team-high 49 RBIs in 69 games.

"Part of it is making sure he's out there every day," Roenicke said before the game. "When he's in the second spot or you move him back to the third spot and he's not out there every day, then I'm always having to change the lineup."
I have seen this excuse time and time again but this is the first time I have heard it almost called out for what truly is wrong with baseball lineups, lazy managers.

Lind's busted toe has the training staff getting questioned again. They totally missed that one. His mom provided better diagnosis than they did.

Jays bats are going down, so it's probably time for some pitching elbows to get blown out as well.

I was looking around minor league promotions after a person I know from Fresno was talking about 2 dollar 24 oz Tecate night at the Grizzlies game and damn everyone seems to have a cheap beer night. So awesome. Jamestown Jammers having a great beer night today, a beer sampling from a brewery I never heard of but is highly praised on BA.(closest minor league team to me)

Apparently I had a awesome brewery close to me all this time!

Rockies Owner: ‘Maybe Denver Doesn’t Deserve A Franchise’

DENVER (CBS4) – Colorado Rockies owner Dick Monfort suggested to an unhappy fan Denver perhaps no longer deserves a baseball franchise and the Rockies should move.

CBS4 has obtained a series of emails between the long-time season ticket holder and Monfort which occurred between July 5 and July 8. The season ticket holder, who is from Denver but asked not to be identified, sent an email to the Rockies fan feedback line July 5t, writing, “The Monforts have no business owning a baseball team and their missteps in hiring ‘the good old boys’ for front office and management positions is solid evidence of their ineptitude. They have ruined pro baseball in this region while generating millions of dollars in profit.’ ”

The 57-year-old man told CBS4 he did not necessarily expect a reply from the team. But the next day, July 6 at 6:47 p.m., Monfort personally emailed the fan the following: “By the way you talk maybe Denver doesn’t deserve a franchise, maybe time for it to find a new home. Thanks.”

The message was sent from Monfort’s iPad and in a phone call with CBS4 Thursday night, Monfort confirmed sending the email.

“I sort of remember,” said Monfort. “I do remember that. I was rapid firing it.”

But Monfort now says what he wrote was not what he intended to write.

“I don’t even have an idea what I meant to say,” said Monfort.

He went on to explain that, “What I meant to say was maybe we, the owners, don’t deserve a franchise.”

Monfort was adamant that despite what he wrote, he was not threatening to move the team and did not mean to write, “Denver doesn’t deserve a franchise.”

“That’s not what I meant,” repeated Monfort.

However the fan who received the email told CBS4 he believes Monfort’s words were clear the first time.

“Making a threat to move the team from your iPad is not a constructive move,” said the season ticket holder.

This marks the second time in a week a controversial email has emerged from Monfort in response to an unhappy fan. A Grand Junction man, Michael Ferguson, emailed the team following a loss July 4 expressing his displeasure with the product on the field, to which Monfort responded, “If product and experience that bad don’t come!.”

The Rockies owner, chairman and CEO was heavily criticized for that approach to the fan.

On July 8, Monfort again emailed the season ticket holder and was more conciliatory.

“I have no defense we have played poorly, this is a time where we all hang in together, we are all part of the team … my goal is to get us playing like I think we should.”

PSA - Out of the Park Baseball 15 seems to be getting a 50% off sale starting later today according to the developer.

If you're a baseball fan, or want to understand more about the game, OOTP is fantastic.

You can play any season in history, using actual rosters or making your own. You have full (or automated) control over the general manager, field manager, everything.

If you ever played strat-o-matic or fantasy baseball, you may dig this a lot.

Keep an eye open for the sale.

Looking at my fantasy team... Billy Hamilton has more hits, runs, RBIs, HR and a better OBP (not to mention 14 more steals) than Josh Hamilton in the past month. Smh @ Josh.

Was a pretty big target just for the steals. ESPN really undervalued Billy Hamilton. Same for Jose Abreu. Those two were really good bargains in the ESPN fantasy leagues. At least Yahoo saw the potential.

Really late but sorry about the Tanaka news.

I'm slow as well, and I understand they would prefer to avoid surgery... but in this case it seems like it would be the more intelligent route... isn't recovery from it 9-12 months usually? if so early july would be a fine time to have it in order to have him for some of the next season... if they just wait 6 weeks in hopes that it heals right he could maybe come back in sept... but at the same time the yankees are clearly going no where (they might not be out of it statically but man they haven't looked good all season) and if it doesn't heal right or if he hurts it again in sept... he would miss all of next season.

On the flip side unless abreu drops off horribly in the second half he should have ROTY no problem now, which would make the first white sox ROTY since 1985 and the first ever white sox ROTY first baseman.

When was the last time the Yankees even tanked, gotta be at least 20+ years ago? Have they ever even tanked

never tanked on purpose but in the late 80s early 90s they were bad. not bad bad like 100 loses bad but 90 losses bad. that when they drafted Bernie, Jeter, Mariano, etc. thanks to Gene Michael and Buck Showalter.
