honestly if the fans arent going to take it seriously then they should probably do away with fan voting. Omar Infante, really

Feels good

Omar Infante (he of the .204/.213/.284 line) is by far the worst offender. He's been worth -0.7 fWAR this year

His walk rate is 1.5%, like what

edit: maybe Alex Rios is worse! He's been worth -0.4 fWAR in 69 PA compared to Infante's 197

All-Star Games are pretty much a joke anyway, so if these standings hold, it will be well-suited to the occasion. The only problem is that the result is meaningful... but that's an issue regardless of who's playing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

#RedSox are 49-64 at home the last two seasons. … Also 354-358 overall since the start of the 2011 season.

Updating this stat from last month: Since the start of '14, the Red Sox have been swept at home 10 times - in Francona's 8 seasons, just 6.

The sooner Henry wakes up and realizes that 2013 was a fluke and that the team has obviously regressed the better.

Somebody's gotta go. This Cherington-Farrell partnership isn't working

The 2013 Red Sox should really be a lesson to a lot of teams; specifically, there's a lot of luck in baseball. Basically everything went right for Boston that year; no one important got injured, and several players had what were in retrospect career years, all happening simultaneously.

Honestly, I suspect virtually any team or club could be really good in any given year if that happens. Conversely, a team loaded with talent and depth can have a mediocre year if a few key players get injured and then 2-3 other players have "down" years.

I still can't believe the Cards got shut down by the corpse of Clay Bucholz. That and the HR Maness gave up changed the entire series.
