No team that acquires BJ Upton "wins". No matter what you give up. A negative is worse than a zero.
Ain't that typical of most Jays fans I know.
I guess you can say I'm a new fan of baseball.
Hockey and Basketball is more my sport, I guess that means I'm a Jays Bandwagoner with knowledge of the game?
upton has actually been pretty good the last 2 seasons, and they basically got him for free. he's definitely not close to being worse than replacement level.
Even I was going to let that low hanging fruit go lol.

All I'm hoping for now is that at the end of the year the front office doesn't let EE AND Bautista walk because we have this new outfielder who just went 20HR/30SB for only $4million.

i'm going to go out on a limb and say melvin upton doesn't effect their plans there
I wouldn't be surprised that if Jose in the miracle situation walks, Melvin fits right in. As much as I would like to go with options already in the system.

A 0.5-1 year hold over until Pompey is ready?

Replacing Bautista with Upton?
If that's the plan... may Jesse Barfield have mercy on all Jays fans' souls.

Creeper, you're always alright in my book.
Plus, your avatar covers this BJ Upton deal perfectly.
At least Upton won't have to travel 2000 miles to make it to Toronto. Has this ever happened where a guy was traded to a team they were playing? Does he just walk down the hall and suit up for them today/tomorrow?

San Francisco is 2,100 miles away from Chicago, but Mike Fontenot didn't have to go far at all when the Giants acquired him today. The Cubs are in San Francisco, so all Fontenot had to do was walk from the visitors clubhouse to the home clubhouse. The Cubs obtain minor league center fielder Evan Crawford in the deal.
Remember when B.J. was a five tool prospect?
Been coasting on his one decent year for a decade.
well hansel rodriguez is a complete nobody, the vast majority of bj fans probably have never heard of him, for good reason. #18 in the system?

of course it would take a lot more than just Urias, just saying that would be a decent start. It will take a lot more than just Urias to get Sale. Seeing what the Yankees got for Chapman, the Dodgers or any other team would have to pay an absurd amount. *
That's why I think the White Sox should not trade him until the offseason. That way you can ask for young impact players with MLB experience.
edit: I am actually surprised that BJ Upton is having a decent year.
Idk I think having a couple 3 win seasons sandwiched amongst the bad/replacement level years warrant calling them fairly meaningless. He was supposed to be great, not just occasionally good. And he barely mustered occasionally good.He actually had a few pretty good seasons after the one great season, they just kind of went under the radar because of the expectations he had
And wasn't Ichiro traded to the Yankees when they were in Seattle as well?
Yes.
Upton does have some clutch hits. Isn't he near the top for walk off hits?upton has actually been pretty good the last 2 seasons, and they basically got him for free. he's definitely not close to being worse than replacement level.
See, I remember the hulabaloo from that.
Didn't the same thing happen with Thames and Delabar?
I wouldn't know, but apparently Delabar is pitching for the Carp in Japan now. Beckx, have you seen him around?

Pretty sure that's his brother.
I was talking about Melvin. We talking about same Upton?Pretty sure that's his brother.
It's very easy to get them confused.

One is good, the other had to change is name because his prior name had no value left.
Melvin's been a thorn to the Dodgers. Glad he's gone.Yeah I'm saying I'm pretty sure Justin is the one with all the walk offs.

i was just pointing out that saying he had "one decent year" is inaccurate. he was pretty good every year from 2007-2012 and then fell off a cliff when he signed with atlanta.
