MLB Off-season Thread 2015-2016 IOTI Back to the Future was a lie

Upton and Samardzija? I would be disappointed if the Yanks made those moves. Get Heyward instead of Upton. Upton provides RH power and crushed lefties while Heyward doesn't. However I bet Heyward provides more value moving forward.

Samardzija will give up bombs like CC.

I wouldn't advocate the Braves getting Samardzija, but there's been some talk of them getting a FA starter so if they're going to do that I think he's the best option for them. I think he'll improve by going back to the NL, and he probably has the best balance of cost and production of any starter on the market. Plus he's probably a better bet to stay healthy than most other starters.

The Jays might have a shot...

.... right ...

right!?

:(

Maybe?

Probably not :(

But I kinda want a Pitcher that doesn't suck in the playoffs. No offense to Price but he was awful for our postseason run. I guess it was kinda like a double edge sword. Amazing in the Regular Season, Not as Good in the playoffs

Cueto got it right. Suck until Game 2 of the WS

You don't even get to the playoffs if you don't have Price. He's a stud. It's ridiculous that people want to write off an ace resume because of a handful of bad starts.

I know i shouldn't write him off just because his playoff record. i'm just waiting for the confirmation that he won't re-sign to the Jays. I'm ready for disappointment that we couldn't sign him :(.

Jays qualified Estrada :)

That's good.

That's good.

depends on how much they are willing to spend. He's going to cost probably $200 million.

Looking forward to the Cubs spending $70m annually on pitchers in their 30s :lol

John Lackey got QO'd. Wonder if he'll be the first one to take it? (Probably not)

Damn, this is really surprising. I did not expect that.

But, it makes sense if the Bucs or Cubs are going to be looking into him. Might as well get something out of a division rival.

I kind of hope he takes the QO.

Happy about the Estrada QO. If he accepts it it will likely be an overpay, but for one year it's low risk, and the Jays clearly do want to have him back.

Lackey should make near $25 mill on a 2 year deal, so I think he declines pretty easily.

Cliff Lee is available.

Price wasn't mindblowingly awesome in the postseason, but he wasn't terrible.

Id be fine with him returning and giving the Jays 3 more elite seasons followed by 4 seasons of cheerleading.

I still can't believe you guys are relying on Pelf for meaningful innings. That's what doomed you right there.
You're telling me. When they had that big double header with the Clevelanders down the stretch, I was seeing my counselor. I came out to a text message that said "Fuck Pelfrey" from my friend, and his start was just about as bad as I expected.

Gibson and Santana are decent mid-back of the rotation arms. Hughes was great in 2014, bad this year, but I think of the rest of the guys he's probably got one of the better chances to provide some value.

- May was the best starter last year, but was also good in the bullpen so I'm worried they'll leave him there.
- In a SSS Duffey was great, but we'll see if he works out long term. His curveball is legit so I think worst case scenario is he ends up in the pen, but I mean. Starters are a bit more important!
- Berrios looks like he's going to be a stud, hoping he's up quickly.
- Nolasco is garbage and I hope he's gone in a bad contract swap.
- Milone has his moments of being effective, but I've seen enough mid-80s slop for one life, thanks.
- If Meyer can figure shit out that would be huge, but it's not looking good.

Save us Tyler Jay and Kohl Stewart!

Astros QO'd Rasums for 15.8m.

JFC that's a lot.

Let him hit the market so they can get that draft pick if someone signs him.

RE: Cameron. I'd be OK with Crash Davis being the big FA the Astros throw money at.

Chris Davis to The Cards would be a disaster. He needs to be in an AL team. The Astros to me is the best fit.

Here's everyone that got the 1-year, $15.8 million qualifying offer. It was a record 20 players.

Brett Anderson
Wei-Yin Chen
Chris Davis
Ian Desmond
Marco Estrada
Dexter Fowler
Yovani Gallardo
Alex Gordon
Zack Greinke
Jason Heyward
Hisashi Iwakuma
Howie Kendrick
Ian Kennedy
John Lackey
Daniel Murphy
Colby Rasmus
Jeff Samardzija
Justin Upton
Matt Wieters
Jordan Zimmermann

Will someone be the first to accept it?

At age 26, Heyward is the perfect 10-year-deal guy. You get all of his prime years and as soon as he starts declining, contract is over.
