MLB Off-season Thread 2015-2016 IOTI Back to the Future was a lie

The Diamondbacks have hired Matt Williams as their new 3B coach. Williams had previously been with the D'Backs coaching staff from 2010-2013 until he was hired as Nationals manager in 2014.

Sounds like they are keeping him.

Breaking news: Brian McCann has lost an arm in a mysterious accident that occurred at Brian Cashman's home. McCann was reported to have been asked to come over to help Cashman build a shelf.

When asked for comment on the accident, Cashman blamed it on a ghost.

"Suddenly the lights went out and wham! A saw blade flew through the air and took his arm clean off like woosh!" Cashman continued, "I've never seen anything like it, it was crazy. But look, we all know how much ghosts care about a catcher's caught stealing percentage, and they must have thought that Brian just wasn't getting the job done anymore. It happens, you know?"

McCann said that he doesn't remember exactly what happened, but he claims that the last thing he saw before getting hit by the blade was Cashman standing next to the light switch while holding a giant saw.

This story will continue to be updated.

The hardest thrower in the Minor Leagues didn't hit 104 mph like he did earlier in the AFL season, but he did pop a 101-mph fastball and averaged 99.4 mph with seven heaters, including two others than registered 100 on the radar. Black often has trouble harnessing his fastball but didn't in this game, throwing five of seven for strikes in a perfect eight-pitch inning. If the Giants' No. 19 prospect can continue to find the strike zone and stay healthy, he could make an impact in San Francisco in the very near future.

Black needs to get it together and make it up to the majors already. We need someone who can possibly challenge Chapman's velocity records.

The Hicks trade is a good deal, especially if he develops a little bit.

If nothing else, it gives the Yankees a little more ability to trade Gardner (or Ellsbury, but we know that's not happening).

D-backs reached out to the Yanks about Miller.
@Ken_Rosenthal: Sources: #DBacks among teams to inquire on #Yankees’ Miller. No names exchanged yet, but AZ has young SPs, IFers who would interest NYY.

D-backs also interested in Gallardo

Yoenis Cespedes' new car is nuts.

I was wondering the same thing. Why are people calling him John Ryan Murphy instead of just John Murphy?

Coming up through the system he was known as J.R. Murphy. He actually did not like that name as he was always known as John Murphy. He asked to no longer be called J.R. and so it became John Ryan Murphy.

Sounds like a diva to me.
