The writers can write whatever jargon they want in the DBacks/Braves trade, but TLR and Stewart give no fucks.

TLR had to fight hard with Mo in St. Louis after Jocketty's departure, and keeping the wolves at bay while he rebuilt the farm.

Red Sox expanding the netting.
Red Sox release statement saying they'll follow MLB recommendations to expand protective netting behind home plate.

MLB recommendation
MLB announces it''s "encouraged" teams to extend protective netting to the near ends of both dugouts. Specifics are now up to each club

LATIN, MATRIPEDICABUS, DO YOU SPEAK IT
Look at all those top prospects the Braves have had. Looks like all those banners they've collected over the years!

DBacks and Rays have had more top 100 prospects than the tigers despite being expansion teams. The Dombrowski effect.

Otani hype is building in the States.
Via Passan
Longtime scout on 21-year-old Japanese RHP Shohei Otani: "He has a chance to be the best in the world. He's like Darvish who throws 100."

Jeff Passan:

Lots of buzz about the Nippon Ham Fighters posting Shohei Otani after the 2016 season, though it's far too early to know their intentions.

Time to go into hibernation until next off-season.

Cubs are saving up that warchest for Otani. They were 2nd for Darvish and Tanaka and Otani fits right in their timeline.
And they'll finish as runner ups again. Yankees have more than $40 million coming off the payroll next season and all of their starters (except Severino) can become free agents after 2017. Perfect time to make it rain on Otani.

The "buzz" is being generated solely on this side of the pacific, if the Fighters are saying anything it's not getting reported anywhere.

IMO whether Otani comes over in 2017 depends entirely whether he meets his personal NPB goals in 2016. He's 21, he has time, and seems to be that kind of guy.

Comparison to Darvish is weird because they're both amazing but they're very different. You're not going to see a gif of Otani throwing pitches that go in 8 different directions from the same release point, instead you'll see 99, 100, 99, 79, 100, K. His 12-6 curve set people up for murder this year.

Speaking of, Darvish had dinner with Otani (and Sho Nakata) last month in Tokyo. Posted some fun pictures, apparently first time the two pitchers met in person.

Cubs have a new TV contract. And it's up to Otani to choose because of the max posting fee.

Yankees will give him $200 million easily and then the Doyers will blow both of our teams out of the water by giving him like $250 million.

McCullers, Velasquez, Appel.

Which one does the council want?
McCullers, but the Astros aren't run by LaRussa and Stewart. I'll take Velasquez.

What say you, Astros gaf jello?

Doesn't Grienke like to be involved in front office stuff and fancy himself a GM in waiting? Wonder what he thinks about the Miller trade?

Yep. Back when he was still with the Royals, he declined a trade to the Nationals because he thought the Nationals were giving up too much to get him. So he does analyze stuff. If I remember right, Jordan Zimmermann, Danny Espinosa, and a top prospect would have gone to the Royals.

I don't know what to think of these Walker rumors.

If all the rumors hold you have an infield of Lee at 1B, Kang at 2B, Mercer at SS and Harrison at 3rd, banking on Kang to bounce back from injury and Lee's bat to translate at his age.
