In order to squeeze in the Wild Card play-in games this year without extending the postseason schedule, they went with a 2-3 format for the Divisional Series this year to eliminate a travel day. It will be back to 2-2-1 next year, thankfully.

Meaning that it seemed unfair for Saint Louis to get 3 games at home, which they are not. I'm glad to see that the schedule was just rearranged, rather than that some strange process of the new wild card system allowed a team with a worse record to have home field advantage.
