Yeah, I'd still take the run for the DP. There's a book out there that lays out the probabilities of scoring with different baserunner/out combinations. I'm interested to see the run probability for bases loaded and two out.

According to Baseball Prospectus from 2011 data, the run expectancy with bases loaded and two out is 0.6922, so the smart move would have been for Smoak to catch the fucking ball and to take our chances with AJ had we had the choice.
AJ loves to fuck the Mariners though. He prolly would have hit a grand slam.

Off to a really bad start. They are underperforming their hit total, but their Pythagorean run total is basically spot on. They aren't even getting especially or particularly unlucky.
