Lyons has been dreadful lately and the Rangers are coming into town on a hot streak but I can't say I'm not looking forward to watching Ron Washington manage with NL rules again. Hearing the Cubs announcers last night rave about Scott Feldman's relative proficiency with the bat as a pitcher was a delicious appetizer.
This could be a positive or negative thing depending on whether you were a position player or a pitcher.I had a vivid dream where I played for the Seattle Mariners. FML.

.Carlos Lee has announced his retirement from Major League baseball today on his 37th birthday. "El Caballo" told a Panamanian radio show that he desired a two-year deal in the offseason, but only received one-year offers from four teams, which he turned down. He declined to name the teams who made the offers. Getting a sense that he was not going to receive the multi-year deal he sought, Lee decided to hang up the spikes.
Originally signed out of Panama as an amateur free agent by the White Sox in 1994 at age 18, Lee finishes up his MLB career with 358 career home runs. He also accumulated 2,273 career base hits, 1,363 career RBIs, and a .285/.339/.483 slash over 14 seasons with the White Sox, Brewers, Rangers, Astros, and Marlins. He never struck out more than 94 times in a season and played all 162 games twice (2005 and 2007). A model of consistency, he only played less than 140 games in a full season once (2008).
His finest season came in 2006, split between the Brewers and the Rangers. He hit .300/.355/.540 with 37 home runs and 116 RBIs. He played in 161 games, only missing one game due to the trade that sent him from the Brewers to the Rangers.
Lee parlayed that huge 2006 season into a 6-year, $100 million contract with the Astros. In 2012 (the final year of his contract), the unloading Astros sent him to the Marlins. His contract was unique; he forfeit his eventual 10/5 no-trade protection for full no-trade protection during the first five years of his contract. When his 10/5 protection would have kicked in, he instead became covered by a limited no-trade clause that protected him from being traded to 21 teams without his permission.
The Astros originally had a deal in place to trade him to the Dodgers, but Lee refused to accept the trade, leading the Dodgers to eventually acquire Adrian Gonzalez. Since the Marlins were not on his no-trade list, Lee became a Marlin on July 4 in the deal that sent Matt Dominguez to the Astros. As the Marlins continued to spiral downward, they attempted to flip Lee to another team. The Marlins had a deal in place to send Lee to the Yankees, but again Lee declined the trade. The Orioles, not on the no-trade list, attempted to acquire him but the teams could not agree on how much money would be sent to the Marlins. Lee finished what would be his final season with the Marlins.
He appeared in one postseason in 2000 with the White Sox and three All-Star games from 2005-2007. He also won Silver Slugger awards in 2005 and 2007.
Baseball-Reference.com estimates Lee made approximately $130,275,000 in his career.
Can't wait to give Berkman a standing ovation in his return to St. Louis.
WTF Mariners?
not good. could be worse i guess. hoping for the bestAsst. GM John Ricco says partial rotator cuff tear for Niese. No surgery immediately, but rest 2 weeks and then another MRI.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucknot good. could be worse i guess. hoping for the best
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
They should probably just go ahead with the surgery. I really don't see the point of risking a worse tear down the line pitching for this shit team
http://joefrisaro.mlblogs.com/2013/06/21/stanton-seen-as-building-block-not-trade-chip/According to two well connected sources, the Marlins consider Giancarlo Stanton as a building block, not a trade chip.
One source called recent Stanton trade speculation, laughable and lies.
Before the season, Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria stated publicly that the organization eventually intends to make a substantial, multi-year contract offer to Stanton. It just wasnt intended to happen during this season.
Indications are Stanton isnt ready to accept a long-term deal with Miami, and perhaps that will be his stance for months or years to come. If and when that happens, the team will decide which direction they will go. For now, and a while, they Stanton as a fixture on their roster.
Now, obviously, the Marlins are open to trade talks regarding all their players. In Stantons case, the pending offer would pretty much have to clean out another clubs farm system, as well as bring back proven big league talent. Even that might not be enough.
Remember, Stanton is still under club control, and he is making $537,000 this season. A bargain. There is no urgency to move him. He will reach arbitration next season, but the slugger isnt eligible for free agency until after the 2016 season.
The Mets have the worst fucking medical staff. Just let him get the surgery now instead of playing "wait and see" until he inevitably needs surgery months from now and then he won't even be ready for the beginning of next season.not good. could be worse i guess. hoping for the best
Syrinx gets it.Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

wow, when things are going your way shit, like that happens
of course not, I've already attended a few games this season where Davis/Jones went off on us.I hope you're not sleeping on The O's. They gave The Tigers an ass whooping and their pitching is 10x better than The Jays.
