No, Losing a sanctioned match wouldn't have been dishonorable. Samurai would spar against other clans with bamboo swords all the time.

Tom Cruise was the last samurai. Ryu Machida is a bad fighter, who drinks his own piss, and evokes the image of the karate kid. Even worse he's lost 3 out of his last 4 fights. Total Tomato Can Status.

I think with the time difference it's never on during the actual NYE here. The early AM of the 31st if I remember right...

Maybe so. I never watch it because it's so late, basically in the morning. I tried last year or so and the first 30 minutes were some weird on stage ceremony with fireworks and shit and I said fuck it.

West coast makes it a little more manageable, but I never make it to the end.

It's not so bad for me, it's like 1-4 am or something. It's more the length of the broadcast and all the filler that kills me. Also listening to The Voice for that long is just not possible.

damn Bones only gets $70,000 a fight? Time to re-negotiate.

great fighter but he's not that big of a draw yet.

maybe a rashad/jbj card can get enough heat to do around 800k to 1m ppv buys. ufc 140 will probably be a 400k affair. Dana needs to do a better job promoting and creating his new stars. if dana was smart he should throw some serious muscle behind his next title fight and put it on fox, especially coming off his FOTY 2011 campaign.

NeoGAF's smiling token!
"Godamnit Jon go check on her, get some fans!"
Speaking of:
Apologetic Jackson explains 'get some fans' comment

"What I was saying was, 'Go check on Lyoto,' what I meant was to remember that you're a public figure. There's always attention on you and what you're doing all the time, and there's cage etiquette. There's things you're supposed to do, and going and checking on somebody is what you're supposed to do.

...

"That's the point I want to drive home," the hugely-respected trainer said. "Jon is a really good guy. Everybody is just attacking his character because that's what you have to attack when you can't attack somebody's fighting."

...

"Let's take BJ Penn for an example. He's actually a really nice guy; he walks around licking blood off his gloves all the time. Chuck Liddell is one of the sweetest, nicest guys you'll ever meet, but when he knocks you unconscious, he runs around screaming and pumping his arms. That's not normal behaviour. So my job with Jon is to remind him."

The rumor is his Bentley is from the UFC after he flew in to Vegas to renegotiate.

Yeah. I don't think the numbers for UFC 140 will be huge, but there will be a trickle down effect for his next fight. The word of mouth from "Did you see what Jon Jones did to Machida?" will pay off next time around. JBJ vs. Rashad would be huge.

I thought word of mouth would do wonders for Edgar/Maynard 3 but it did worse than UFC 125 with a better card surrounding it.

Is 9 months enough time for Nog to realize he isn't a title contender and should only be fighting the Brendan Schaub's of the division? I hope so.
