Why not? I just can't see myself sitting at a desk in a room on my own while the rest of the family is in the living room any more. Maybe one day, there will be a pc that will come out that is around $400-$500 and provides as much of a streamlined experience as a console. And when that day comes, and Sony stops making consoles, I will get into pc gaming.
It really isn't that complicated. I have a decent laptop I use for gaming. Whenever I feel like using the TV in the living room I just attach the HDMI cable to the laptop, connect a 360 controller and set up steam in big picture mode. This gives steam a user interface similar to consoles that's easy to use with a controller.
