Whoa, he's gotten a lot bigger since the last time we saw him.

Either that or the camera perspective didn't reveal his true size.

nope i thinkhe's just really BIG

see the pic on Jeux France where link has jumped the fence and the boar is giving chase?
Don't you think links face looks a bit shiny??

Maybe he used the triforce midfight?

Damn... those stupid chickens look too real now.
Stupid fanboys and their stupid demands for "Real Link" :(
Who the hell wanted the chickens to look real?

what strikes me is that most of the character models seem to have realistic/non-cartoony body shapes. not exagerated at all... look at the lady in the background in the pic with the chicken and the guy standing next to the horse.

also the water looks pretty hot IMO, but the grass texture in that pic with the horse jumping the fence is just pure ass.... VERY ugly... i can understand that they can't have wavy grass in a game this wide open, but surely they can beat that texture? it's extremly low res.

game looks better in motion though, and i'm sure it will be great.

god damn this cant come sooner :D

really looking forward to seeing this in motion, screens dont do it justice im sure.

I don't know why this image is emotionally resonant, but it is. These stills aren't really doing the game justice, but some of them are still quite impressive.

Reminds me a lot of one area of OoT in particular, the river/creek thing on the way to the Zora's place.

And now we finally realise what Oli was on about. Cutting grass was fun. Throwing Cuccos about was fun. To change these things makes it a little less Zelda. Sure the gameplay may be intact, and then some, but part of Zelda has also been the charm. Not to say that it isn't there, based on a few measley scans, but one would only hope that these kinds of things remain.

And yes, I realise that both these things could still be (and probably are) still in the game. However, one day, Nintendo will completely fold, giving us the fanboy Zelda wet dream, which makes it have huge long movie cutscnes, with voices, and an upgrade system that involves experience points.

Holy Farkin' Crap @ fire monster

I love the nighttime shot too :)

It's spelled Balrog ;)

I can't wait to see Link lead the resistance at Helm's Deep, and scale the Oliphaunt in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.

Oh man, every time new images come out the less I can wait until November for this.

Love all the character models, really have a unique feel to them. This 'manga'-esque look is beginning to really grow on me.

In particular, I love the image of Link on his steed running down a path surrounded by trees. Gives a good sense of depth. I really hope the world is as massive as Nintendo and everyone else is making it out to be.

*imagines that fire monster with RE4 flames*

Now that is the only thing I could possibly complain about, everything else look perfectly fine to me.

Well its quite obvious Capcom are needed here. The game looks quite suspect in its textures, its no Resident Evil 4,thats for sure.

It's pretty obviously not the best looking game this gen, but really... who cares? It's fuckin' ZELDA. Zelda! Who cares how the horse's hair flows in the wind when it runs, everything about it is going to own and none of you can say otherwise!

And if you do say otherwise I will cut you all dead.

Real dead.

Resident Evil 4 takes place in mainly small areas so the graphics can be nicer.

1) They gave the chickens some nice texturing and all of a sudden there's speculation that you can't throw them? I know you later mentioned that (the ability to throw them) is probably still in the game, but still, that speculation is completely baseless.

2) They "folded" by giving us this, and there STILL isn't even any voice acting. Ocarina (and Wind Waker) had long cutscenes (though not FF long), and even though I don't want an upgrade system with EP, it wouldn't be so bad.

This just in! This is the intro to the new Zelda:

"*hyrulian chatter*
The world is changed.
*more Hyrulian chatter*
I feel it in the water.
*Hyrulian chatter*
I feel it in the earth.
*Hyrulian chatter*
I smell it in the air.
Much that once was is lost.
For none now live who remember it.

It began with the forging of the Great Triforces.

One was given to the Hyrulians: immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings.
One to the Goron-lords: great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls.
And One, One was gifted to the race of Gerudo, who above all else, desire power.

For within these rings was bound the strength and will to govern each race.

But they were all of them deceived.

For another Triforce (making it a Quad Force) was made.

In the land of Gerudo Desert, in the fires of Death Mountain, the Dark Lord Ganondorf forged in secret a Master Triforce to control all others.

And into this Trifofrce he poured his cruelty, his malice, and his will to dominate all life.

One Triforce to rule them all.

One by one, free lands of Hyrule fell to the power of the Triforce.

But there were some who resisted.

A last alliance of Hyrulians and Sages marched against the armies of Gerudo. And on the slopes of Death Mountain, they fought for the freedom of Hyrule.

Victory was near. But the power of the Triforce could not be undone.
It was in this moment, when all hope had faded, that Zelda, son of the king, took up her father's sword.

And Ganondorf, the enemy of the Free peoples of Hyrule, was defeated.

The Triforce was passed to Zelda, who had this one chance to destroy evil forever.
But the hearts of Hyrulians are easily corrupted. And the Triforce of power has a will of its own.

It betrayed Zelda to her death.

And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend; legend became myth. And for two and a half thousand years the Triforce passed out of all knowledge. Until, when chance came, it ensnared a new bearer.

Tingle:
My preciousss.

The Ring came to the creature Tingle who took it deep into the tunnels of the Fairy Mountains. And there it consumed him.

Tingle:
It came to me. My own. My love. My own. My Preciousss... Kooloo Limpah!

The Triforce brought to Tingle unnatural long life. For 500 years it poisoned his mind. And in the gloom of Tingle's hut it waited.

Darkness crept back in the forest of the world. Rumour grew of a shadow in the East, whispers of a nameless fear.
And the Triforce of Power perceived its time had now come.

It abandoned Tingle. But something happened then, the Triforce did not intend. It was picked up by the most unlikely creature imaginable.

Link:
....

A Kokiri.

Link:
....*you have found a triforce! Set it to your action button on the equipment screen*

Tingle:
Lost! My Precious is lost!!! Koo loo Limpah!

For the time would soon come when the Kokiri would shape the fortunes of all. "

Yeah, this is what will matter in the end. I blubbed about the chickens, but it really won't matter. They're not cute so I won't bother trying to throw them about like in the old games, unless it's a necessity. I'll just get on with the rest of the adventure instead.

1) No, they haven't. Not even speculating (in fact that screen shot would suggest you CAN throw them). Just saying that If they were to remove such things would be a shame...which is what I think Oli was trying to say. IT was never about grass. And it's not about chickens.

2) I would want none of the things I mentioned, but I've seen people (not here on GAF, no here, we are respectable. Sort of. But there are those that love Zelda, but don't even have the foggiest idea why, and they want the game to be some it is not.

Don't get me wrong, I'm eager to play Zelda just as much as the next guy - probably moreso (Ocarina is my Favourite Game of All Time (tm), and I loved WW). I'm just posting in usual random fashion. PEACE.

:lol But seriously, what so special about Zelda? I've never played a Zelda game before but everytime new screens or scans are posted everyone starts drooling like its the next best thing. Like Angelus said, its no RE4 so its obviously not about the graphics. Maybe its his cute face and pointy ears? :P

I hate to be a negative nelly, but from a purely graphical standpoint, these shots are mindbogglingly underwhelming. I'm hoping the gameplay will hold up its end of the Zelda tradition, because visually this game looks like a muddy, mistextured mess. (Or is this an homage to the original N64 games?)

I've been thinking the same thing about any footage/pictures from 2005 aside from the first three or four we got in February. The beginning village looks more like Kakariko than Kokiri village, which wasn't as green or as lively in color. The night/rain scenes look pretty nice though.
