Mobile Suit Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans S2TEKKADAN is MURDERERS, HAIL GHALLARJORN

You are even more right if you are talking about the guard dog of the Wing manga, Battlefield of pacifist, that happened between the series and EW. It's only job was to protect the mobile dolls factoy and it was completly AI controlled.
Best thing about that manga was the 'Go for it, Domon W' segments.

I always liked to think Master Asia taking on Heero as his disciple in Musou Gundam was partly inspired by that.

Who's the NewType of this show? Ein?

I wonder if the Ein tech they showed at the end of S1, and the hints that Ein is part of Vidar now, are elements of the Mobile Armor tech from the Calamity War. The way they animated the Mobile Armor awakening scene reminds me quite a bit of what Ein was like when he was fused into the giant Mobile Suit. Maybe it's not AI after all?

Could be the case. It would also explain Gjallarhorn's prejudice against the AV system. If the endgame of an AV human was becoming a Mobile Armor, it makes sense that they would push against AV specifically in order to avoid another Calamity War disaster, with the actual reasoning being lost over the years and replaced by just a general disgust for modifications.

Yeah I really hope they go into the Calamity War more soon. I'm finding McChocolate dropping lore bits about the founding of Gjallarhorn really interesting.

I guarantee given how things are going that a Newtype shows up.

IBO's take on pilot ability is interesting and I'm not sure how they'll fit Newtypes in. I agree they will want to have something like that, but the only angle right now that I can see would be someone like Husk. The main Tekkadan pilots all have the AV system, and that's sort of like.... Artificial Newtypes I guess? With Mika being the role model, and Husk not being allowed to undergo the operation, if he manages to improve himself naturally somehow and "evolve" into the same level without needing the system, that would be IBO's Newtypes. Idk.

If they do backstory on the Calamity war I hope it's more than just a two minute exposition dump.

Like, an entire episode of being just a flashback describing it is kinda what I want. Cause as far as "world ending giant doom wars" in Gundam backstories, this is the most interesting one to me.

I think Newtypes in this one are going to be less psychics, more like you said, "one with the machine" type. Like "My Gundam and I now function as one entity" type things.

Well we did see Mika's reaction when the MA was starting up; that little bit with his wonked eye going nuts is probably an indication that you're right.

Got to the episode where vidarare finally fights.

Those duel pistols are so awesome. Actually the whole episode was amazing until the end where we get to child molester scene(he is not really a child molester yet)

At this point I'm worried the writers might be making the Calamity War backstory more interesting than the present-day events they're actually depicting. :lol

jeez I was worried there wouldn't be episode today. episode came out half an hour late.

edit - aaaand of course it's the idiot who survives. I didn't know Iok was written to be such a profoundly dumb character. I can excuse him for accidentally waking up the mobile armour but his later weak retaliation in a damaged mobile suit just angered me more that he's still alive.

Hope the Mobile Amour wipes your ass off Mars.

But damn, can't wait for this showdown

Iok Kujan is actually me starring in a Gundam show. Iok Kujan is a precious snowflake and must be protected. Can't wait to see these showdowns about to happen. Everything involving this Mobile Armor have been the best parts of this season.

I wanted the MA to lose it's shit the moment it saw Barbatos, like seeing your hated arch nemesis.

"GGGGUUUNNNNNDDDAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!"

And goes off the rail.

Hurrah for out-dated weapons lol.
Beam weapon being so outdated it cant even destroy grunt mobile suit is fascinating, lol. And here we are all preparing for the worst last episode. Hahaha

Although at least long range beam weapon looks like it's more damaging than normal gun weapon at least, maybe a more concentrated beam sword in clore range would be more dangerous

Iron blooded orphans 36

I swear I wold have have hated the show for killing Ride, but it's ok they did not, at least not yet. I love how they describe beams as old tech and how it's mostly useless on new suits, I was kind of surprised when it barely damaged the suit.

Also, just kill that Iok, he is so dumb, just kill him hard, he deserves to die.

Us Ride fans survived another near death experience, its gets so close constantly and all his passions and emotions. Didnt understand why he and Hush still had their shirt ons when everyone else didnt.

Mobile Armor and its search for supplies as well as self repairing and self replicating features is so compelling on a technological level.

Iok needs to die. Hes so annoying. Id have rather had Ein 2.0 this season than him.

Man I really want a Gundam show where it's just people with Gundam vs Autonomous AI machines instead of Gundam vs Gundam/Zaku/small fries.etc

IBO already shown it has potential. If sunrise play their cards right they could do a IBO Calamity war prequel.

Oh, the beam cannon sucks so much that it can't destroy a grunt. That's... one way to take the piss out of what was a previously intimidating mobile armor.

But damn, can't wait for this showdown

So the Helmwige is essentially developed from the Grimgerde?

... Did McGillis have this other dude pilot it on purpose just in case he met up with a pissed off Gael-.. er... Vidar?

So the thing that gets me about Iok is not that he awaken the MA, because I mean that could happen to anybody.

It's not that he shot at the MA which resulted in it diverting it's attention elsewhere, because I mean it's not like he knew what Tekkadan was planning.

It's that he shot at it ONCE, didn't look at it to CONFIRM the kill, just called it a day, and ran ALL THE WAY to safety XD

That's some next level shit lol.

I think it's okay if only the MA have them, gives them a real sense of threat different from the MS.

Like the MS have 'realistic' projectile weapons while the MA have these fantastic laser beam funnel technology.

Imagine if Ein is now a brain in a jar and he hacks and pilots a MA...

There would be a record for 'fastest ever star awarded'.

The upgraded Grimgerde looks pretty awesome, should be a very interesting showdown between Charcolate Man and Vidar next week!

They are going to have to address more of it at some point. At the very least, to explain why someone would want to build self-replicating machines whose only purpose is to wipe out its creators (other humans etc).

Not bad. The beam spam homing scene was pretty intense. Looking forward to the mecha action when they try to take down this monster.

Iok is dumber than Ein.
It's impressive really.

Really looking forward to McGillis vs. Galileo.. hope it isn't a tease where it's just McGillis' right hand guy fighting Galileo...

Super cool seeing the beam weapon get deflected by the nanolaminate armor on Ride's mobile suit. Too bad it deflected it and still went straight for the farmers. =(

That Mobile Armor is scary though. Super fast, has the ability to repair itself, and can create more Pluma as it sees fit? Giving all of that to an autonomous AI hellbent on killing people really is a nightmare. Killing 1/4th the human population is pretty crazy.

It seemed like a good idea at the time!

I still don't have any confidence this won't go down the road to stupidtown.

But for right now it's pretty intriquing, the mystery of the Calamity War is helping with that took.

Iok might be the dumbest character in Gundam in quite some time, which is certainly an achievement.

"Did you see how I shot it?! I got my revenge and, even though I can tell it did nothing to MG Ray, I'm sticking by that story!"

I was pretty down about IBO coming off of the first season, but all these recent developments have really kicked it up. Quite glad to see that beams are fairly ineffective against mobile suits, though that just opens up a load of questions in my head about how napalm can burn off the armor, but beams can't.

Also, fucking Mikazuki. "What do you think of the death machine that does nothing but slaughter humans?" "It's beautiful."

OMG THAT ENDING!!! So hyped for next week! But for Christ's sake, Iok needs to go, his snobbish stupid attitude really pissed me off. And way to make the Mobile Armor less intimidating when its most powerful weapon is ineffective against regular Mobile Suit armor and it runs on fossil fuel. Still, the whole auto-repairing and reproducing thing is still scary but I really thought they were gonna finished it off in this episode with all those limitations.

Actually, wouldn't it get mad once it sees Shino's Gundam? Since they found them in the same place, so Shino death flag already raised. Watch Hush get Shino's Gundam once he dies next ¬¬.

Episode 36

I didn't expect that there would ever be an explanation for why the Gundams are named after Ars Goetia demons. This mobile armor = angels things is pretty thin, but it's still appreciated.

The lack of details on the Calamity War didn't used to be so annoying, but now that it's getting filled in the knowledge gaps are much more apparent. Even a basic rundown of what the sides were and how and why it started would be appreciated. If SliceSabre is right that it was a robot uprising, then that's a pretty serious detail to have been elided up until now.

Shino survived S1, so if he's going to die, it will be toward the end (Just like Akihiko, the bearded man pretty much predicted his death.).

They are getting Yamagi in the Gundam with him next episode so he should be safe, I don't think they'll kill both of them next episode at the same time.

I was just going by it seeing Barbatos first lol

Speaking of which I would love to see Barbatos use that greatsword again, not a fan of the Drang hammers...

Good episode with very high stakes. Says a lot how this situation is more interesting than the whole somethsomethingUnion wars back on Earth.

Iok...really? There's stupidity that borderline breaks the suspension of disbelief.

That's kind of what I wanted/expected to happen too...that and it transforms into a quad form and starts chasing after Barbatos like some deranged animal.

Don't want to go through the thread because of spoilers but how is season 2 so far compared to the first? I think I forgot how the first season ended by now ; ;

Not as good but mostly because its slow. First season had quite a lot going on from the beginning and this one took its time setting things up in the first 5-6 episodes. It seems to be going somewhere interesting though and started to pick up the pace in the last few episodes. Binge watching it should eliminate much of of the criticism people would have about the slow early pacing.

Some good news to look forward to: Iwao Teraoka (aka god-tier gundam action storyboarder) is back to co-storyboard the next two episodes. Probably all the major battle scenes. The mecha animation dierctor in the next episode is Arisawa, and the week after that is Obari. This mid-season climax going out with a BANG!

Sounds great, especially if the summary spoilers for the next two episodes come to fruition and go in the direction they seem to imply.
