I wanted one but I am really against Nintendo's game pricing and how ancient games are still sold at full price.

Also I would want an OLED screen.

Also I want my Switch 2 to have a feminine looking case.

It depends. I love the console so far- it's just not "new" enough for me like how typically Nintendo operates with new consoles. This feels like a Switch Pro.
Thats not a bad thing persay, im glad i got it - i have a large family, so naturally i will get the OLED and pass down the launch console - but i understand not everyone is willing to do that. I think the console price itself is fine.

I look forward to first party releases scheduled for the remaining part of the year.

Man Nintendo have fans for sure, but the haters are just hardcore like I would imagine this dude walking into the Kyoto office with a can of spary paint and bag of eggs

Nintendo Cuck will say yes even if it's not worth it now.

Depends tho. Mario Kart is a massive hit so that will be enough for some. Not for me, but I'm catching up on games I didn't play or finish last gen because of Switch 1's shit performance. Others are happy being early adopters just like with every console launch where games are notoriously lacking in numbers, but they also know Donkey Kong is coming in July so why not?

So "not worth it" for a lot of folks and so they are waiting or skipping entirely. That's fine too. There ain't a one "worth it" fits all here.

I only had the OG Switch I still have for 8 years now, and I was dying for an improvement, but didn't buy the 2019 revision as I was waiting something better, didn't buy the OLED version either, so yeah at the end, I can finally have something way better 8 years later. It is worth it for me.

I even bought a Steam Deck and a PS Portal to have my "better Switch" experience, but a proper new generation of Switch is more convenient (since I have a huge library of unplayed games).

I have one and don't regret it. But the honeymoon period is over for me already. The kids took the console over while I'm back on the pc.

Worth is a funny word. It is worth what people are willing to pay. And people assign worth differently. I certainly know I will get my $500 out of it for the life of the system. Same with my Xbox and Ps5. The value is to the consumer. A review of worth is subjective.

I think you can assign a value proposition. Early adopters always have a higher price due to lack of SW and most scarce HW. You take the greatest risk at first.

Overall good review.

Not really worth it right now, no. This really just feels like a Switch Pro. There was a video floating around here showing the improvements in Mario Odyssey which really hyped me up. In the end, the game looked about what I remembered it looking like when I played it on Switch 2. In fact, outside of a few framerate boosts, I sometimes forget I'm even on a Switch 2. It's still outdated hardware that's not even hitting the capabilities of the PS5/SX after almost 4 years of those consoles being out. That's another reason it doesn't feel like a brand new system but a Pro of an older system.

I also have a distaste for the laziness of using the same UI for a newer generation system and as far as I'm aware, the Switch 2 and the Xbox SS/SX are the only time this has happened. But that's a me thing.

I've given everyone this advice that I know personally. If you need a new Switch? Get the Switch 2. If you really just are foaming at the mouth for an overprice Mario Kart? Get it. Otherwise, just wait. The only people that are going to be telling you this thing is an upgrade they couldn't even imagine are the fanboys. You can spot them from the laugh emojis within this thread lol

I found the comment that Fast Fusion was, correct me if I misheard it, "a tech demo" to be amusing considering that it is actually one of Switch 2's launch gaming gems in my opinion and a steal at £13.49.

I am really enjoying my Switch 2 experience but, in my view, this isn't really a next-gen Nintendo console but a Switch Pro that finally runs Switch games as they were intended. Everything about the Switch 2 is very familiar from the design of the system, the joycons and even the Home screen and user interface. It is an iterative update and that isn't necessarily a bad thing even if this was long overdue.

Unless you missed playing a lot of those the ported over games that are either really old or better played on other platforms, probably not worth it. At the moment there's only Mario Kart World that offers a brand new experience. Maybe when there's more games on there like DK and Metroid Prime.

For those who missed a lot of games and or mains the Switch, I'd say its a solid upgrade. There's also people who like to tinker with their portables and the first ones are usually the first and easiest to hack.

I'm ok with it. Didn't wow me so far. I think the mouse could be a game changer if done right.
I actually think the joycons are too big and I prefer the OG ones, the joysticks on them feel better though. maybe I need to get used to it, only had it for 1 day.

What the fuck with the hate around here? It's getting ridiculous.

I mean, when the PS4 came out the best game there was Black Flag, a fucking 3rd party game, the rest was hot garbage, and I enjoyed it immensely.

I bought the console based on the promise of future games. If I were buying it based just on the launch offerings it would have been a hard pass.

Bought BOTW
Upgraded for 10€
The upgrade was free for Nintendo Online subscribers, but it should have been free for everyone. Same with the TOTK upgrade.

I launch the game for The first time and...I'm greeted with 20€ DLC pack ? and this is not included in the 80€ Switch 2 version? A 10+ year old game ? LOL, LMAO even...

Frigging Nintendo man
Yeah, (selectively) paywaylling one of the features of the Switch 2, which is being able to play Switch 1 games with higher resolutions and frame rates, is just shitty. They could easily only paywall the new game "features", like the smartphone app bullshit, in the Zelda games.

The games will come and the hardware is solid. Who cares about the "speed of the wifi" lol? Mate, it's a Nintendo console. We've had them before. We know what it is. By the end of the gen, Nintendo software will make owning one of these a necessity for gamers with diverse tastes, just like Switch 1 and just like every Nintendo device before it.

Honestly, Nintendo hate isn't new. It isn't because of the Switch 2. Nintendo LOVE is what is abnormal. I've been online on message forums for decades. All of my time on forums and the only time Nintendo wasn't constantly shat on was the last half of Switch 1 cycle and it was still shit on pretty bad. It was hip to shit on Nintendo in the industry during the Xplay days. I won't name names, but industry people shat on them openly on tv daily and then would spend their time off shitting on them on their message boards where they(the talent) were worshiped.

There are nostalgia cycles we have. For those of us who are about 42-45, Nintendo 1 was our childhood. We are the first generation of mainstream gamers. We remember our father's playing Zelda. For MOST of the hobby though(the younger guys), the "Nintendo" of their childhood was assassins' creed or final fantasy or even halo and fable. They got in later. They never grew to love or respect Nintendo. Seeing Gen 1 worship Nintendo breeds a lot of resentment. We(gen 1) treat Nintendo like they are above everyone else and it pisses a lot of people off, so some will never, EVER miss a chance to shit on Ninty. Nintendo fanboy resolve has and will remain unshakable. You can't make us forget our childhood and we only miss it more as we get older. You can debase every other type of fanboy a lot easier than a real Nintendo one.

To me it's not worth it as there is only Mario Kart and nothing else. I am not about to replay any of the older games any time soon.

But for other folks, new MK, upcoming Donkey Kong and being able to play a lot more stable or upgraded versions of Switch 1 games is worth it. If Switch is your main gaming device it's a no brainer. It's not like console price will fall much (if at all) in the next few years.

Personally I want to see OLED update in 2-3 years and that's when I will jump in the bandwagon.

That sums me up perfectly.

No other company has shifted the scales this much.
You have less rights over the product you supposedly own and the games are far more expencive.

It warrents distrust and hate.

Hardware wise Ive no issue. UI is boring and lazy though.

There should have been more third party games and upgrades for third party Switch 1 games in the launch window. Far as I can tell this is down to Nintendo being stingy with dev kits so they only have themselves to blame.

If people want it and are willing to buy one, they'll likely enjoy it. It's all subjective, lmao.

I'll be waiting as I'd feel pretty guilty shelling out $450 for a single game.

I mean if you think about it, original NES games were around $80 if you account for inflation. Some games being over $140 by todays moneys.
