I have lots of games and other stuff to use with my great gpu, cpu and rams thank you, i dont need any justification to spend money on stuff i like. Also i just like fps much better with mouse and keyboard than a shitty controller.

meh... this topic is one giant piece of hypocrisy, if 360 version was 720p and ps3 was 600p or vice versa... it will be flooded with people say that the extra resolution would bring joy & happiness for all eternity...

And for the record I am a console gamer :P

console gamer: we can play MW2 in a comfy chair in front of a massive HDTV, so who cares that it's 600p. Annnd...PC's are expensive!

PC gamer: We get full-HD and our PC costs less than a comfy chair and console.

Unless I have friends on in which ill join there party and we go from there I couldn't give a monkeys who I was paired up with so the faster it happens the better in my eyes.

Anyway that's way OT but at least a few more people have said they cant tell the difference between 720 and 1080 and would this thread even exist if they hadn't mentioned it?
 
I'm a real techhead but I no longer care about the numbers. If it looks WORSE than the last game, well thats bad. However that won't be the case.

Seriously, if nobody knew about that 600p stat nobody would care. At all.

They'd say "wow this game is fun and fast" and play it. I bet it will still look good.

Ignorance is bliss.

However I do have a PC capable of running it, maybe I will go that route anyway.

On another forum I'm seen as the PC Gaming Elite Master race president and I still don't mind seeing IW optimize. 60fps @ 600p beats the hell out of 25fs @ 720p.

Oh the bitterness of this thread knows no bounds. FYI, a $400 PC will run the game maxed out at 1680x1050 @ 60fps. Not 1024x600 @ 50fps with lower settings like the $400 PS3 (judging by previous efforts), so tell me how exactly its PC gamers paying over the odds here?

Wonder if they'll get the PS3 framerate upto snuff this time around, the 360 has coped pretty well with the Call of Duty games this generation, but the PS3 much less so, sub 30fps, then roughly 50fps, and 50fps again so far, still need a little work to get it upto the the touted 60fps. Need to iron out those frequent dips to the mid 40s.

Not seen any major (or even minor tbh) engine upgrades in the videos so far so they should be pretty much the same.

FWIW, I've been experimenting playing COD: WAW in bullshot mode lately on my $150 GPU. I can get a perfect 60fps refresh on the alpha texture heavy new Nazi Zombie map with 3x3 supersampling @ 720p and maxed out settings.

That means rendering the game at 13.5x (then downscaling to 720p for super bullshot mode IQ) its console counterpart and still getting a damn near perfect 60hz refresh. It made me pretty damn impressed with the engine optimisation tbh.

I'll try and post up some shots later on, they look ridiculous, and an awful lot more detail is revealed (especially from trees/foliage) when you use supersampling.

If anyone wants to try it out, just download nHancer, an Nvidia GPU (ideally a GTX series one at that) is required to try it out. The combined 2x2 supersampling plus 4xmsaa w/transparency aa mode is pretty damn nice looking as well.
 
I don't know why people get all up in a huff over things like this. Pixel shaving has been done in the industry for a looooong time now. Off the top of my head the worst offender is probably Square-Enix. Go boot up FFX again, and look at the sides and top. The screen is a little bit smaller than 640x480. Hell they used to do this back in PS1 days too...you didn't really think FF7 battles had the menu taking up a fifth of the screen the whole time for aesthetic reasons did ya?

Which is precisely why the Wii is my favourite console this generation. Try and play the PC game and you're going to come out with your tail between your legs, actually tailor your console and software around the strengths of consoles (especially local multiplayer) and you'll manage just fine.

I'd rather play the game sitting in my comfy chair, in 1280x1024 (19" monitor ;/) and with my awesome headphones than sitting infront of my HDTV.

I've got a decent PC and all the consoles, I'll be getting it on console - primarily because I've grown to dislike kb&m controls over the years. Oh, and because this kvetching about resolution is infantile in the extreme.

It is probably >20" so that is not tiny. And of course it depends on how close you are sitting. My 22" takes up more of my field of vision on the PC than my 50" TV does when I game on my consoles.

I just think it's silly that people are comparing the jump from PS360 to PC to the jump from Wii to PS360. I mean come on that's just pushing it.

Whats the point of 1080p in general really? thats just a sexy number that 99/100 people wouldn't be able to tell from a 720p display in their house.

And probably most cannot tell 720p from 600p..motion blur etc covering up the flaws like airbrushing away a little cellulite in Maxim. Still looks good.


Anyone who complains about the resolution in this thread should not buy the game, period.
The first MW2 trailer looks great, and looks like great fun. period.
