Monster Hunter 3 Tri Official Site Updated

Does anyone know what the special quest where you kill the two sunflower heads at once will get you?

The Jaggi one gets you a Jaggi head that boosts your end of quest loot, but I don't know what the other one gets you.

I've done that underwater arena one a couple times and didn't get anything special.

I think the Jaggi in that particular event quest you mention are upper level Jaggi not regular ones. They seem to have more hit points than a regular one. I think that's why carving their parts unlock that particular helm.

If I remember correctly, the first thing you need to do is to go find the village chief's son at the run down camping spot. After that you go back to the village and talk to the village chief's son who should be back at the camp and he will tell you to gather some materials for him.

thanks! Me and a friend managed to figure out what the elder wanted (some mining ore), and unlocked the star quests. Now we are trying to figure out what the tiny sleeping yellow wyvern icon is.

is there anywhere that has basic translations of some of at least the early missions?

oh, and totally got destroyed by the underwater dragon. so far the underwater is translating well, feels a lot like the timing and mechanic of walking, but you have more dimensions to work with. Managed to sneak past him once, and get into his little hideout cave. Really fun!

I tried the online too, btu keep coming up with an error. the wii is japanese, and the wireless is setup alright (at least it worked enough to do an update). Are there any special programs you have to download through the store to play online? or any initial setup stuff you have to go through?

I think you are referring to this? モンスターのキモ?

If it is, you can get them from the small grass eating sea monsters.

Big pearl.

Has anyone here tried splitscreen yet? Is so, do you know if you can play through all the multiplayer quests spitscreen or is it only available for the colosseum battles (as screenshots have led me to believe)?

Edit: A quick browse on youtube seems to support my suspicion.

I just beat the final Boss!! Credits are scrolling now. That battle was totally epic. I got a repel not a kill but at least I got it on my first try.

My play clock is a little over 100hours now. Probably 2/3rds of that is online. I can see playing at least another 100 online because there are several online only bosses I have not even seen yet.

I wrote down my online ID tonight after I finished playing so I could post it here, it's EW76DJ and my character name is Yamar if anyone wants to friend me.

Hit HR7 tonight :)

Yes, the offline final boss battle is sooooooooo EPIC!! And the stage is sooooooo dam pretty! Wow indeed.

I'm HR32 now.

Once you unlock 4 star online at lvl30, the game kind of resets. You do essentially the same missions as 1 star again except all the monsters have way more hit points and do far more damage. But when you kill all these higher level boss monsters, you get the parts to make the G-class armor! There are also all these new metals you can mine and bugs to collect etc that are exclusive to online 4star+.

It kind of sucks that the even the earliest G-rank armor you can get like the Jaggi G set makes even best high level armor available offline (or 3star online) look like total junk. The stats for G armor are just insane. They do raise the cap for MAX level cap for armor upgrades on normal armor once you unlock 4stars, but it seems to be easier just to buy the new G-Rank stuff directly.

Anyway, because G rank makes everything else look like garbage, and there is so many new resources to have to gather, I feel like I have restarted the game from scratch. Strangely the weapons don't actually get that much better.

They threw in some new monsters into the mix. That Evil Joe freak is like in every mission now. He just turns up to molest you even while you are doing some quiet fishing quest. Some of the monsters seem to have slightly different moves and behaviors but I am not certain all of them do yet.

Besides Joe, the only other monster I have fought online that is not available offline is the battleship ship sized sand monster thing that I am sure someone has already posted video of in this thread. This thing is so big that you can actually ride him, and he even has mining points on his back! They were letting lower ranked players fight the first half of that battle during weekends. But once you turn ~lvl29 ink) you can play the full version which is pretty epic.

Was amazed to find that G stuff are in the game actually, usually Capcom save them up for the G version. MH3 is kind of like MH2.

Btw there are 18 Normal monsters, 9 alternate (G)、2 rare (like gold/silver)、making a total of 29.

Pay rise for them I guess.

The one on the right looks like he's ready to pounce. There's smiling, and there's baring your teeth.

Scary.

Srsly though, a short summary would be nice. Pretty please?

got to the
mud t-rex
last night, although didn't manage to beat him, I kept running out of time, and he would be at a limp. I think I need to build up some better weapons for now....

I suggest getting one then ...hell get a PSPGO

Monster Hunter on the go can't be beat!
I think it'd be a bit financially irresponsible of me to buy another game system right now, but I am rather tempted to get PSP3000. Well only 13 weeks until the summer holidays, I should be able to get a better cash-flow then.

Question: do you guys "farm" regularly to get the "city points" and other items? or doing different quests mostly?
I don't quite understand what you mean by "city points". Farming dont give you points, only herbs, bugs etc. For points you got to go Moga Forest and hunt monsters.

oh, by farming I mean hunting in Moga Forest :)

do you guys go for free style hunting in Moga Forest regularly for points? since we need points to farm/send ships out. or mainly focus on quests.

(used the term "farming" incorrectly, that was used in FFXI. :p)

Yeah you got to do that if you wanna progress thru the game offline. Usually I will clear some stars mission, then to Moga Forest to replenish my supplies while hunting monsters at the same time to earn points. You will also need reward items given by the Village chief son for exchange with the Captain for stuff in order to handle the villagers request.

thx Tenbatsu :)
so everybody has to go hunting in Moga Forest once a while for points and rewards from Village Chief son. but this is taking time ><

I'm at 4 stars offline quest 海竜ラギアクルスに挑め！ (hunt Ragiakurusu).
will start going online soon to get HR for the time limited quest. how long it takes to get to HR18? :p
(equips I earned from doing offline quests/hunting may help a bit?)

I'm sticking to offline only until US version comes, but the game is really good so far. I have to say I am glad they got rid of most mosters and replaced them, because if I had to fight Kutku/gyp/plesi/bas/grav another 20 times again I'd tear my eyes out.

The monsters in Moga Forest dont level up so its pretty fast when you have high level weapons. To get to HR18, it all depends on how fast you play. Takes about maybe 5 - 10hrs?

There's no Kutku?

That fight in MH1 was when the gameplay of the series 'clicked' with me.
There's no Kutku.

Are Famitsu events common for MH games? It reminds me of all the old PSO Famitsu events.
I still want a PSO2 with awesome event quests but it may never happen. :/

Jesus H Christ.

Are those playing import copies using Japanese Wii hardware? I read that MH3 requires a firmware upgrade on the disc, which would be a Japanese firmware, right? Wouldn't this break a US NTSC or Euro PAL Wii? Also, how are people getting the import to boot?

You can get the game to load via the newest Gecko (I think its 1.92) or SoftChip 99 which lets you select the IOS needed (55). They bypass the firmware updates and boot the game

The only thing you cannot do easily via importing is play online as it requires you to change your Wii Shop Channel

Back from the GamesCom ... I've played the english demo with ... Kaname Fujioka !!
We fought against the Kurupecco (and a Rathian) in the Moga's forest : bassically the same demo as the japanese one, but with 4 hunters.

Does the online portion follow the same scheme as the PSP versions? Where the online missions are the same as the single player missions only now you can do with 2-4 people and the monster is stronger? Or they completely new missions with new monsters to fight?

the jungle/swamp looks RIDICULOUS!

Really good art and environment. They have outdone themselves.
Yeah, that stage is awesome. Standing at the top of the waterfall, the feeling is so dam good.

It's a mixed bag of old and new. There are of course, online only monsters.

BTW, for the NA version of MH3, the logo is slightly different
