Monster Hunter 3 Tri Official Site Updated

Its nice to have wiispeak support! Now am using keyboard which is quite troublesome. To type ENG, you got to press F1 X 2 then type. To space words you got to press ENTER follow by SPACE after you enter a word. I cant use Skype, my mac is a bit far away:(

Nintendo Channel stats for Tri are in.

So far, average play time is 32 hours. In just under three weeks, that's a lot of time spent hunting.

I am somewhere around 16 hours in. Still trying to clear level 3, and I can't read anything, lol.

Seriously, I must have spent like 2 hours just running around with the torch admiring the landscape and digging up items/supplies

Haha thats what I did too. Anw the torch is pretty useful in certain situation, experiment!

Some of the stages now are quite barren, there's not much to dig unlike previous installment. I guess the developer just want all the digging/replenishing to be only in Moga Forest.

Yeah I was running up to animals and using the torch making them run away :lol

I really like playing at night in the game, not sure what it is but I love how it looks

Yeah I did notice that having just played MHG Wii, its really cut down.

I think I played the jungle a good 4 times before I realized there was an epic ruin that I was running around. It looks really good at night too, the way the camera angles it when you look up.

Famitsu Event Quest Tomorrow! You can get the below weapon from this quest!

Eligible: HR18
Details: “ファミ通・大角と巨鎚の激突!” (Diablos?)

ブレインフォックス
More Details here:

I beat this quest twice last night, and failed once. I did it with a couple other LVL 35-40 guys. It's in the Colosseum arena, so there is is no escaping to other zones. And you are put up against BOTH Diablos and Uragankin in the arena at the same time! Needless to say it a fairly challenging quest.

When you beat it you have the chance to win Famitsu tickets. You need 4 of these tickets to make that lance pictured in the article. I only managed to get 2 tickets so far. The stats on the lance didn't seem so hot. And to upgrade it I bet I will need even more famitsu tickets.

sounds interesting!

10 days and ~50hrs gameplay so far. started going online at my 4x th hour. got to HR8 now ^^
can't wait to get HR9 to do next lvl of quests.
still far away from the Famitsu quest entry requirement.

Question: how do I get to 2* online quest? do I have to clear all 1* quest?
I can join the 2* quests now, but not starting one. thx.

You can look at this table here http://www1.atwiki.jp/mh3wii/pages/100.html it will show you which HR level unlocks key quests that allow you to advance.

Basically to start work on 2* you will need HR18 and have a CLEAR status on everything in 1*

There's one more icon beside the yellow speaker, do you have any idea what is that? Shit I thought Jaruru was referring to that:(

Ahhh I think you're talking about the icon that shows that your interior item construction finished.

you mean our house in the street (online)?

tried the Famitsu quest yesterday, it was really tough. our team failed miserably. :lol
any idea about what kind of armors we need there? and suggested weapons?

HR18 is the min requirement, but you can't beat it with armors around that HR I assume. 2 crazy monsters in the arena. "__";;;

He meant the Interior Item Construction stall located just outside the armory. You can ask the Cat to help make Interior Items for display in your offline or online rooms.

Best weapon for Famitsu Quest are Water Based weapons, Water is Gaiking and Diablos main weakness. Armors I cant really suggest but useful skills will be 高級耳栓 and 気絶無効.

Beat the urgent for HR 3 last night, the jungle angler blowfish dude.

The slash axe is pretty sweet, just getting used to it's timing and combos.

Does anyone know how to start and improve the garden? I can talk to the old guy something about cats, but that's all I can figure out so far.

Underwater fighting is getting really fun!!

In case any of you have imported it and are running off the USB loader the English patch is just about complete. The game is almost completely playable now to those who do not understand a lick of Japanese

You can read up more about it here, I am going to try it hopefully this weekend as I have been just going through the motions up to this point

http://mh3eng.wordpress.com/

Here is it running in case anyone wants to see

OMG, Wii Speak support. Please. I was going to purchase the game anyway, but this would put aside any issues I have with it. Plus, I want someone to use the damn speakerphone already - I like it.

regarding the latest online quest. (Sharks)
we need shark tickets x 5, yellow water monster coin x 5, then some stones
for the coins, we get them from offline arena quests, right?

after I beat the offline quest (same yellow one), I get one coin. but when I quit the arena mode and go back to regular offline/online mode, the coin is not in my storage?
went to shop to check, the shark lance is still 0/5 for the coin slot *_*

anyone helps pls

edit: the yellow one, I mean "roarudorosu"

To improve your garden talk to the village elder's son (the dude on the box) and get the items he requests (last option with the red box next to it).

As far as just starting out, I'm not really sure what options I chose, but I just talked to all the cats (I think they want a name or something), then the leader. After that you just give the cats instructions through him.

Did Capcom ship too many units? Sofmap already has this in the bargain bin for dirt cheap. If it drops to 1500 Yen or less I might pick it up to see what all of the fuss is about.

How cheap is dirt cheap? It's still 5,000 yen standalone most places around me.

It's still in the top ten, so it'd be pretty unusual if it were less than 4,000 yen alreadly. Is it?

I believe you have to kill him in the middle of the event quest for the items to show up in your rewards box.

Well dirt cheap might be a bit of an exaggeration, but I was in Akihabara a few days ago and I saw it in the bargain bin that they keep in the front of the store for 2980 Yen. They had the controller bundle pack as well but I don't recall the price. I think it might have been 4980 Yen.

That's a pretty good deal (especially the controller pack). I was in sofmap today but didn't notice it amongst all of the Dream Club promotion :) but in the other stores it was still no more than 1000 yen less than its starting price.

You go to your house in offline mode, and talk to your cat to receive your rewards from the arena mode. Side note: Come to think of it, you have a guest house in the online mode too, but I'm not sure if you can receive your arena rewards there, as I've always just gone to my offline one out of habit for receiving arena rewards.

I think the English release is due around March 2010, which is only 6 months away. I'm resisting importing and patching the Japanese release because 6 months of Monster Hunter would be a LOT of time developing a character, only to want to start again when the English release comes out.

I wonder if there will be a way to convert a Japanese version character in to an English version character? It can be done for PS2 titles, but I'm not sure how Wii title saves are structured.

Please, someone tell me that shark thing is a melee weapon. I always wanted to bitchslap someone using a giant shark. A giant ANGRY shark would be even better. Bonus points if there's a great white version.

Yes, it is a lance actually. And it makes a shark sound when you draw it:lol

First time playing a Monster Hunter game, and I have to say, not being able to freely explore the various environments without starting a mission is truly retarded, bad game design. There’s really no reason the game shouldn’t allow it, especially when it already allows you to wander the first forest area.

?? This is how MH games are all along. You can only explore the areas after you start a mission. Also there is plenty of time for you to explore the area in a mission.

For MH3, you can visit Moga Forest without starting a mission which is something new to the series. Anw MH is no Zelda where there is an open ended world.

I know this, I just think it's an unnecessary restriction that serves no purpose, made even more unnecessary but the open ended exploration of the forest area.

Why make one area open but the others not? It doesn’t need to be Zelda, just the ability to go in, kill some stuff, bask in the beauty of the graphics, and mine/fish/loot/catch bugs. The fact they give you so much time on quests to do this is nice, but again just future proof that closing them off for ‘free’ exploration makes no sense.

Eh, it’s not game breaking, just a silly game design choice that seems to have stuck with the franchise. Should be the first thing they change in future entries.

Oh, and the swamp/sunken forest is crazy pretty. What I’d give for a Zelda game with graphics this good. The problem being it would need to stream the environments rather than load sections, the latter being the likely reason the game looks so good.

There is a purpose for the open ended forest area, and a very good one too. Not sure if I wanna spoil it for you at this point of time. Let me know and I will explain when I am back home.
