Monster Hunter 3 Tri Official Site Updated

The town limit is 4, but there's still a lobby before that in which you can text chat with 100+ people.

1. Log in online
2.Choose between "Anything Server", "Low Rank Only Server", "High Rank Only Server", "Quest Specifics".
3. Once you choose a server, a list of several "worlds" come up, each Holds 2000 players.
4. Once a World is Chosen, a list of Cities come up, each holds 100-200 players max.
5. Enter a city and you can chat with anyone, but cannot see anyone.
6. In the City, you can choose multiple Towns, which only holds 4 players.
7.You enter a town, prepare and hunt.

Looks like people will need both keyboards and WiiSpeak. MHTri has gone from a $60 game to a $100 adventure for me. =\

Yep, it's moved to tomorrow at the same time (4:00pm PST). I sat there for 30 minutes until they finally postponed it. Oh well, hopefully I can make it tomorrow...

Konami and Capcom need to just go ahead and make a crossover action game.

Thanks for the info. Its kinda sad that it only hold 4 players, the japanese might not like it at all if this is implemented in MH3G(if there is one). They enjoy gathering in big groups and messing around in the towns.

One of my favorite axe!:D

I wish Narugacuruga or Tigrex made an appearence in MH Tri from the portable games. Does Barioth fight like Narugacaruga in Tri that would be a great battle? Of the monster I seen in Tri Roarudorosu looks to be the greatest monster ever created for a Monster Hunter game the way he moves and fight looks badass:D What kind of amor does Roarudorosu make Tenbetsu? Water movement increased? Life +20?

Yeah, Barioth fight like Narugacaruga and Barioth > Narugacaruga.

Constitution +1, Water Pressure Resist (Small), Divine Protection skills for swordsman.
Constitution +1, Pellet S LV1 Add, Divine Protection for gunner.

They will change when you upgrade them to higher level. The gunner suit sort of resemble 'Naruto':D

I just love that sponge around his neck I want to break it:D Water Monster are the new hotness and Roarudorosu looks like he can fight on land in the ocean.

Totally worth it. + A tip for anyone not wanting to shell out $20-$30 for only the speak, there should still be places selling the endless ocean package for $30. Makes it more worth it IMO.

Really? You actually LIKE fighting Tigrex?? Naruga I don't mind but Tigrex?? Hate him with a passion.

Get Wii Speak if you want to talk. If anyone is gonna talk about other options I'm gonna go furious, as it's just plain stupid. Seriously. I rather not communicate at all (but I will have Wii Speak) than having to boot anything on my PC, connect to some server just to hear the cheap guy who didn't get Wii Speak along with the game but still wants to talk and wants me to do something to hear him/her.

Also: I had to go skip a few posts here because any Monster discussions beyond the demo and trailer monsters should be highlighted as spoilers I think. I know the water monster and the Naruga-like monster has been shown before but I actually don't know much about them and I like to keep it that way. I've booked over 1500 hours in the portable Monster Hunters so I'd like to keep Tri as fresh as possible for me without having read too much before playing.

Wii Speak is awful, I'll probably only be using vent with our nice crystal clear codecs and headsets. Feel free to "go furious!"

(but seriously, I rarely ever play in pubs anyway, sometimes we might let some guy who wanders in tag along, but that's about it)

It's a good thing I bought Wii Speak for $1 at a Wal Mart bargain bin last year. Finally will be able to use it for something.

Nintendo better not pull another gimmicky voice chat peripheral with its next home console.

They need to dive into the deep end already with online features and stop taking baby steps.

Luckily I bought Wii Speak thinking that developers would support it (:lol). I guess it wasn't totally bad now that MH3 supports it.

Look, I don't care if you use it in your internal group. But don't go trolling the Wii Speak just because you don't plan to use it. I admit I have never used it yet, but hearing from the people who have it, it seems like a fine product. You're saying it's awful? You're gonna go with your superior codecs? Come on, don't be like that. Very elitist and snobby to say something like that and that's the reason why I go furious since a few pages back people were suggesting it as well and acting like they're superior. It's not better.

i asked at Nintendo Germany (it's good to know people :) ) about Monster Hunter Tri online, today i got the answers

- Nicknames are not individual. When you go online, you're charakter keeps the same name as offline. So it is possible you meet 9 "Hunter" in one Lobby.

- Tri supports Friendlists. you see if your buddies ar online, and you can instantly join their lobbies (if there's space)

- There are several lobbies online, like quest-lobbies, whre the name of the lobby indicates, which quest will be done. there are space for 4 people.
There are also group-lobbies where the maximum of 10 players can meet each other, and 4 can go together hunting.

What's going on here? A game for Nintendo that gets lot of tv-spots and viral ads? Jubilation!

Pre-ordered. Wii needs more love from me. Thanks Capgod!

This. Fucking hate Tigrex. Anyway, can't wait for Tri to come out; it'll be the first time I've fired up the Wii since about November. It could use the attention.

hmmm well i just noticed on gamestop.com the monster hunter bundle with the CCP is not listed anymore :/ I hope i still get mine with the pre order i did but i guess only time wil tell.

The capcom Unity blogger snow showed off the online features in tri and showed the the friend code/invite system on the ustream live event. I ca't wait its almost here:D

Caught the last 30 minutes of the stream. The game's even better than I thought! The "infinite mode" looked awesome.

So, this talk about four players per city is true or what? I feel like some shit, but... they should have asked us first, I wouldn't trade a full city for Wii Speak support. No way.

4 per quest, 10 per city

Ok this whole online thing has become very confusing. I'm going to explain how online works in the Japanese version in the official thread OP and if that turns out to be wrong I'll edit later.

Whats "infinite mode"? o_o
DO NOT quote me as it being called "infinite mode" (cuz I can't remember what they actually called it) but basically what happens in that mode is you enter your map with NO timer whatsoever. Everything you kill can be carved and the carvings kept. Everything killed will regenerate either immediately after the carve or upon exiting/re-entering that quadrant. Any boss monsters you have encountered and beaten via quests in the main game can and will appear for you to fight in this "infinite mode". Once beaten, you can carve the boss monster and keep what you carve. After beating a boss monster, you can continue moving between quadrants until the next boss monster appears. Think of it as an infinite hunt. It was pointed out several times that this mode is offline only, though they did not say if splitscreen was possible.

Four players per city, confirmed... It won't stop from getting the game, but... :/
That's a shame. I never really liked the 4 player lobbies in MHFU because it makes the whole posting and accepting quests thing (originally designed for 8 player lobbies) completely redundant. If the max number of players per lobby is 4 then there's no reason everyone shouldn't automatically be tied together into one questing group.

That being said, it's really just a minor annoyance as opposed to any sort of deal breaker. As long as it's easy enough to arrange things outside the town then it shouldn't make too much difference.

Is that just on the Island or can we do it on all maps now? Regardless, sounds good. Seems like a much better system to me then the gather quest of MHFU.

I see, thats Moga Forest there. Just head right from Moga Village and you are off to the forest. It is only available in offline mode with no split screen. Like what Sp0rsk said before, its sort of like an open world Monster Hunter. Monsters there dont level up, so once you have super weapons you can kill them in a flash. Only the Island stage is available for this and its all part of the offline story. Season system plays a part here too but its not as complicated as the one in MH2Dos.

Season = Affect types of monsters appearing in the forest

If that was answered, I missed it. Sorry. Also keep in mind that it won't be a way to gather very specific items. Since boss monsters will appear at random, you may not see X monster that you need X item from. I don't think this mode will replace the traditional gathering quests. (though don't quote me on that either! :D )

Well, I never played Monster Hunter online so I don't know how much impact it will have, but five is better than four, and ten is a whoooolot better, so I'll be left with my imagination for now... Maybe Monster Hunter 3G. *rolleyes*

As for this "infinite mode", I think it's only on the Island. Not sure.

Ok, so that's what this Moga Forest is that everyone keeps talking about. Sorry for muddying the waters with that "infinite mode" stuff...

I haven't played Tri but when I make a 5 or 6 player room in Kai for MHFU, 1 or 2 people have to sit out each round. So 5 usually isn't better than 4. I do it because I have a good friend group, but it gets really nasty when there is a stranger hogging the 4th spot and ignoring the roulette rule (which I end up kicking). So in that sense, 5 is probably not better than 4. 8 or higher would be better than 4.

One guy typed this on that site:
Due to the addition of Wii Speak requiring more bandwidth, anymore than 4 players would cause lag. Capcom looked at what the players in Japan were doing (only interacting within their own 4 person group and largely ignoring/not utilizing the 10 person lobbies) and decided that in order to streamline the game and ensure the online is as smooth as possible (unlike other Wii games such as Super Smash Bros.) they would cut down the limit to 4 players.

Ten says it's nice for gathering but aside from that, how are the online lobbies? Do people stop joining at 8/10? Do you sometimes end up with people stealing spots? Do people sometimes hunt in smaller (than 4 player) groups?

Man, less than 2 weeks to go. :D I've been pumped for this for so long it seems. Anyway, I came to ask whether the majority of you guys are going to hop into online asap? Or play some offline first? I really don't know what I'm going to do first but usually I want to be prepared when I play with others so I'm thinking I might run through most of offline first. But... that just sounds kinda lame with how available online is going to be. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........ :lol

ok, is there actually a time limit in the real game? :/

yea

Every mission you do has a time limit (Mostly 50mins) and a try limit of 3 i.e if you die 3 times in a mission, its mission over.

This "infinite hunt" sounds really interesting and i guess you still have the "3 chances" limit?
