Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - Demo out [Updated: FAQ and Help]

Is he any harder to fight them the normal one? (Other than having more HP/DEF)
Qurupeco's occasional pecking rush and other quick moves like that were the only ways to get hit. The jumping flint bursts and his other moves won't ever hit you when you know the basics of dodging.

Seems it has only one new attack, which produces a flash bomb like attack. Crimson Qurupeco's element is changed to Thunder.

You rang?

*throws dung bomb* Hahaha.

*runs away*

I know that's the attempted look, head dress and such, but overall it looks more like a cowboy mixed with a mexican wrestler than anything like that.

Yeah, for some reason I thought CrimPeco would have same looking armour as the regular one. I leapt before I looked.

....So did I, so we're still on the same page :lol

I'll give the new stuff a look later. I really disliked the lime and purple chaps and feathered attire how it was.

uhhh normal peco can already summon jho. i've hunter HR peco before expecting it to call jho. then it calls a rathian and we're all like ('-.-)

red peco should call others like jhen... that would really rustle my jimmies.

Is there a better tutorial in the full game? I've never played Monster Hunter before and I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I can't even practice to see if I'm capable of getting the hang of it because demo limits :/

Yes, the real game's tutorial is extensive. They explain the basics of gathering and combining materials, how hunts work, pretty much everything. This demo works well for veterans, but it's pretty daunting if you've never touched the series before.

Yes, there is a very slow and deliberate walk through in the single player of the main game. It goes through things like items, how to attack, how to gather and mine. Some of the deeper mechanics must be taught through battle, but it's certainly better than this demo.

In the mean time, if you want a 'tutorial', you can check out Youtube for Tri tutorials on certain weapons. You'll at least get an idea about what you're doing then.

Damn i'm bad at this game. I try to kill the easiest one, the Lagombi.
One time with sword ans shield, two time with hammer and two time with the longsword.

But i know i'm close to kill it.

If you use the longsword, use this combo: X, X, A, X, R, X. It makes things a bit easier ;)

Yeah but it may be easier to check out youtube vids in the meantime, "let's plays" or weapon tutorials.

Okay so I've pretty much given up on the switch axe for trying to kill Plesioth and am now practicing with the hammer on Lagombi.

The hammer has very visibly devastating attacks, but it's hard having to relearn a new weapon after I've spent so much time getting to know the switch axe. Still, I'm determined to kill Plesioth, so I gotta do what I gotta do. I'm not ready to give up.

Don't let having trouble with certain weapon types dissuade you in picking them up for retail. It's best to understand that using a weapon element that's the same as the monster you're fighting isn't going to work out so well.

That being said, Switch Axe being water element in this demo makes me sad.

Always make sure you trap him and bomb him in the head. No matter what weapon you use.

If I remember correctly, switchaxe was one of the easiest weapons to kill Plesioth with. . Whenever he stands still or uses the beam, I switched to sword mode and used the burst. There might be a better way to do damage, but I'm not very familiar with the switchaxe.

Hunting horn also makes things pretty easy. Just practice the attack strings and focus on dodging.
X -> Y -> X+Y -> R -> R (Infinite stamina)
X -> X+Y -> X+Y -> R -> R (Defense up)
X -> X -> R -> R (Movement speed up)
X -> Y -> X -> R -> R (Tiny healing)

Don't feel too bad. I'm a series fan from two previous games and it still took me like 5 or 6 tries to kill him. The 20 minute time limit really makes it a bit of a DPS race and not as strategic as hunts tend to be in the full games.

Sena in Haganai using Great Sword and Yozora using the bow making me want to master those two weapons.

When I select the camera lock thing on the screen it doesn't actually lock on the monster. Really messing up my charge swing timings.

You only turn it on on the screen, the camera turns to the monster with the L button.

Oh wow...I feel slow now. :(

OT but I never finished MH Tri yet on the Wii, is there any point to finishing the single player portion since Ultimate is supposed to be Tri 2.0?

I know this game looks great on the 3DS, similar to the PSP games. Is the contrast between the Wii U version huge? Is the HD graphics really that much better?

Crank that up to 1080p and see for yourself. Personally I think the game is just gorgeous at 1080p and far less cramped, plus I find the 3D is sometimes annoying (and I usually leave 3D on in all games) especially when a monster, or part of them, gets between you and the screen. I'm still picking up both versions for transfarring though.

Not really, since a lot of the monsters a lot of the monsters aren't in Tri, which will show up in MH3U. If you just want to play more than the demo, I guess you can play its single-player.

Man fighting Plesioth is so much easier underwater, especially as a Hammer user.
It's also piss easy with the Switch Axe. Get between his body and his right wing, switch to sword mode and swing away, discharge the moment either his wing or his fin breaks. He'll flinch, giving you enough time to reload the axe for a second discharge, breaking what's left, causing him to flinch again. At that point, he's already pretty much finished.

The plesioth fight is definitely a little more challenging under the time restraints, but I get the feeling that I'll breeze through a lot of the monsters in the game this time.

So let's think of some threadtitles for the OT.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate |OT| Tear and Wear
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate |OT| They see me hunnin', they runnin'

I was going to stick with my CC set up, but with the off-TV play news I think I shall have to get used to the GamePad controls.

So excited!

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate |OT| 37 New Monsters, 4 New Weapon Types, and U.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate |OT| Now with targeting.

I'd like a title that draws people in who might skip over the thread otherwise.

Tried the 3DS demo, it was nice but I still like the Wii U version more.
I'm already used to using the Gamepad.
It's still all about the Wii Pro Controller for me. I tried the Gamepad, and it wasn't doing anything for me.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate |OT| The Ultimate Triumph

(maybe for the WW HD, it should be The Ultimate Triumph Forks)

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate |OT| After

I lol'd, but now that there is cross-region multiplayer, there is no chance this is going to be uncensored. It is a German swear word apparently.

Anus. Meanwhile, I'm pretty sure I could type scheisse to my heart's content.

Yeah, I just find it amusing and slightly frustrating given the low character count you were allowed to type in the chat box. It wont be as much of an issue anymore though, because voice chat integration.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate |OT| Big Swords and Bigger Beasts

A while back someone suggested 'Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate |OT| If at first you don't succeed, try Tri again', I like that one
