Monster Hunter Rise for Nintendo Switch has sold over 7.5 million units.

Why would Capcom make a MH game just for the Switch, though? Honestly, it could hit 10 million lifetime when it's all said and done, and that's not even counting PC.

It is coming to PC next year. Not the first time Monster Hunter has been exclusive to Nintendo platforms in some manner. Wii and 3DS both had exclusive entries from the franchise.

It will hit 10 million eventually after the expansion is released.

MH got big on portables. 🤷‍♂️ It will be interesting how well it does on pc.

If the Capcom leaks are correct they are developing a sequel to MHW in parallel to MHR. It just makes sense for Capcom to keep feeding the handheld market.

Plus MHR is just a lot more fun to play than World, I hope they keep the two different playstyles in the future.

DO ALL 3 OF YOU THINK I WAS SERIOUS?

There was no reason to think otherwise.

MH World performed very well in PC, and Capcom estimates that MH Rise will perform very well in PC too.

MH World is the biggest selling Capcom game ever and MH Rise is on track to be the 2nd best selling Capcom game ever. It means they will both will get a sequel, or at least that they will continue making mainline and portable focused MH games.

Just the 7.5 million sold. Plus another 2.5 million predicted (by me, in that very post). I will not put a /s after every post that's so obviously sarcasm. 7.5 is already a massive success.

This is not sarcasm: I cannot wait for RE made specifically for the Switch. I'm going to dangle my feet off my bed in inky blackness for added effect!

Capcom strategy flawless. Make a powerful title for ps4 and pc that isn't held back by weaker hardware. Sell gangbusters.

Then when that's done make the handheld version and sell a lot more. Crazy to think Nintendo fans used to argue so much against a non Nintendo version.

I always argued against it and said there should be a ps4 version and look what happened.

Congrats.

The numbers are inline with what I expected… a increase in Japan but a big drop in western that lead to the sale be lower overall than World comparing consoles sales.

Let's see how PC version will fare each other.

Is ethomaz ethomaz ok? :)
(all love)

Seems to be a huge success.
Did you read what I said?

It is below consoles at the same timeframe… a drop in sales. With 7 months World was at over 8 million… over 10 million including PC (that launched in 7th month).

These numbers just prove my early sales point… weird was you guys trying to deny the reality showed by the numbers lol

Comparing versions PS4 World sold way less in Japan but sold way over in west… again like I said before… the drop in west sales are really big… that means most people that purchased World in West didn't bother with Rise… that can be due Switch different audience or due the games themselves (some buyers didn't like World so avoided Rise… or some people found Rise different… etc etc) but that is on Capcom side to figure out.

Switch doesn't lend itself very well to multiplatform. If they did a simultaneous launch people would be struck by how compromised the game was technically compared to World.

But Switch is simply too big to ignore, especially in Japan which is still the series main territory. Switch is well over 90% of game sales in Japan and many if the series best sellers were on Nintendo handhelds there.

I was on playing really. :)

How long has rise been out? If its done 7 million and it's close to 7 or 8 months on one platform vs 3......and at was probably 1 quarter to a half the budget of world....I would say its a roaring success.

Mh world on PC sold like 4 o even 5 million copies. Rise will probably not surpass that but it will def sell a million or two

I tried to play it on a Switch Lite. I couldn't get into it; it didn't look good to me and I sucked.

It was also the first time I ever played a MH game. I don't think it was for me.

That's impressive. Guess Switch console exclusive Monster Hunter games are here to stay. I'm not a MH fan, but MHR got me closer to enjoying it than any MH game I've tried in the past. I really liked the movement and trying MHW on Game Pass after MHR the movement felt so slow and restrictive. Hopefully some of the movements carry over to MHW2. At least it would feel better to move, but still don't think it'll get me into the game.

Looks like PS4 World and Rise Switch are going to end up roughly the same amount in the end. Hopefully we get an update when Sunbreak releases.

I still remember when someone on vgchartz was using youtube views to state MH Rise will flop really hard based on that.

1.2M views but 7.5M copies sold

At this point, a mainline MH title is basically guaranteed to sell blockbusters even if the Youtube views were 10K or something.
