Ok and?? 😂. Still not a Nintendo problem 🤷‍♂️

Switch 2 will fail the checklist.

- Switch 2 Price is too expensive and Nintendo won't be able to replicate Switch sales numbers = Record breaking sales
- Wii U also sold decently when it launched on the market = Wii U only sold 120k in 2012, while Switch had already sold over 200k
- Mario Kart World is too expensive and will flop = Boom 95% attach rate.

The craziest part is that this is kind of a "soft launch" with very little advertising overall in France aside from game shops.

The Christmas sales with a new Pokémon game are going to be wild.

to be fair MKW is bundled, but the other points still stand

The scalpers initial purchases still go towards the total. Plus the PS5 has been easily available for ages now and it's still pretty much on par with the PS4.
Comparison is with the launch numbers.

If the supply for any console was unlimited and the same across the board it would be a fair comparison.

A record breaking launch is enough for a headline, it doesn't need be compared with something which was sold out and unavailable for months if not years.

Not sure how it's selling here in Sweden, but it's available without a pre-order all over the place. Very different from how it was with PS5. But maybe Nintendo has just produced a lot more stock for launch.

Yeah the PS5 was really severely supply constrained in Sweden (but I'm sure you're well aware.. 😅) - from what I heard we got a small number.

I pre-ordered mine at Webhallen a year in advance and still didn't manage to get one from their first batch. Took me like four months after the initial release.

People are really comparing this launch with the PS5? An extremely supply constrained release, which ended up in all the scalpers hands.
It doesn't matter since Switch is still the king of hardware in France, while PS5 is trailing behind PS4 launch aligned.

LTD
Switch - 8.7m
PS4 - 6m
PS5 - 3.3m

Nintendo were stockpiling the Switch 2 for months for the launch. That was an official news.

Yeah. I have no doubt that Switch 2 will sell very well, but every modern system seems to have supply issues at launch. The main difference is that Switch 2 has a proper amount of stock.

^ Is unrelated to the point of this thread.
It is related to supply constraints, COVID-induced pent-up demand, and holiday season release dates versus typical months. Sony failed to tackle scalpers during the PS5 launch, resulting in shortages of supplies for users during the lockdown timeframe due to COVID, when gaming hardware saw a significant increase in demand.

After supplies have been stabilized, the PS5 still trails the Nintendo Switch by a significant margin.

So all that effort Microsoft and Sony are putting in to stop third parties from announcing games for Switch 2 is doing next to nothing to stop the Switch 2 hype train from continuing? Probably means that effort will be relaxed soon when they realize they can't make the Switch 2 become the next Wii U.

the fact that they seem to have been well prepared in terms of console available probably helped a lot.
People here laughed to Nintendo with the delay of the console launch… Now we should take into consideration the PS5 shortages to compare… That tell you that some people here have 0 knowledge about this kind of stuffs. 10/10 to Nintendo for this launch.

I mean Nintendo made the decision to begin mass production earlier before release so that they would have a lot of consoles at launch, it was Sony and Microsoft decision to not do that when they had new console launches. Instead just releasing their consoles as fast as possible after mass production started.

The ps5 had to launch with covid only supply held back sales
Then very next post
the switch only sold well because of covid spiking demand!

I think the only reason the PS5 was sold out for so long was the supply issues and scalpers. I see very little evidence for them selling as many as they could have produced scenario.
