I’m not offended by what you said, but I like challenge too. I want to ask you this: So you’re ok if you spent most of your gaming session and you didn’t get that one item you needed for the upgrade? You’re ok if you have to do it again and again. You want to stay grinding and grinding for the sake of an award?
I don’t think I have to play other stuff. All this criticism and I’ve even said I liked MH before. Seems like Rise and Wilds are what I wanted. lol seriously. I will play the hard games because I enjoy them. See my Elden Ring and Souls figures. I will continue to play hard games.
These are knee jerk reactions. Yeah, I want a life beyond the grind. I like grinding, but at a point it’s time. It’s just a repetitious task that sometimes doesn’t reward the player. That’s all. Yes I’ll probably love Wilds.
Glad you weren't offended, wasn't my intention at all.
The grind aspect for upgrading I don't care as much about. My issue is about the reviews I am reading are stating the gameplay, combat, bosses are too easy. I am okay with them reducing some grind, that's not that big of a deal for me...but at least let earning it feel satisfying. When the bosses themselves become a pushover, it now feels more like a grindy, turn off your brain chore list instead of a satisfying mountain to outthink and overcome.
This also becomes more true when playing with friends. The sheer panic and laughs when fighting a tough monster together is a core part of the appeal that brought so many people to love this franchise. Removing that challenge won't add to the excitement when playing with friends, it'll do the opposite and reduce those exciting moments.
I just think it's a disservice to the fans and a VERY odd choice by Capcom. Monster Hunter Worlds is the best selling Capcom game ever and it had a decent challenge. Wilds is most likely going to surpass the sales of Worlds regardless of how hard it would have been. Making a game "easier" doesn't mean it'll sell better and if both Elden Ring and Monster Hunter Worlds has taught us anything, it's that even mainstream gamers love challenging games with good gameplay.
