So do Morbius and Blade co-exist in the same MCU now?

I already had a hard time contemplating the "earth heroes" and "space heroes" co-existing, but we now have Dragons (Shang-chi) and actual vampires. It's getting to Smash Bros levels of guest characters that make no sense being there.

Soo.... the largest comics/media franchise on Earth shouldn't introduce their canon characters because they don't sync up in your view?

Ouch, that's a bit harsh!

i think it's a valid point and you can't just say "well it works in the comics" - as in films vampires generally sit in their own sub-genre of horror, we've had over ten years of this MCU now and during that time folks have made up their own mental ground rules as to what are and aren't possible in this fictional world. When they introduced the off-worlders they had a pretty decent "well we had other planets to protect too" excuse for them not showing up until now, but adding in vampires and dragons in this phase is, well, jarring. I think they even know that which is why they are using the multiverse. Notice how the picture of spiderman in this trailer is Rami's, and it has Oscorp building. But it also has Rhino who was in the Sony Spiderman.. so it's taking place in one of the multiverses by the look of it.

This looks like it might be the very first group of vampires ever created, in which case, i’m good with it.

I mean, if you've ever watched any vampire movie, you'd know they generally don't advertise themselves to the general populace. They hide in the shadows. Heck, even in the first Blade film they show that some of them are wealthy and in control of corporations.

This Morbius film confounds me, it looks interesting but he shouldn't be a hero. Showing Toomes and saying "I am Venom" still screams of desperation. At least Sony seem to have learned and are making each film as it's own separate entity.

Dragons in Shang Chi are on an alternate reality plane, not on Earth.

Also, dragons aren't new to the MCU. Space dragon from 2017.

would be cool if this was a way of backdooring Blade in

Sony and Marvel Studios won't work in that manner. Marvel will want Blade to stand on his own and no doubt will want vampires to be an actual ancient and evil race. I'm just guessing they will anyway.

In the comics isn't blade a regular dude until Morbius bites him? At least that's the origin story I remember from the comics.

Honestly I don't know. I only recently started reading Tomb of Dracula but I'm only up to #7 or so. I'm pretty sure he first appears in that series. If Morbius does bite him, then I can understand why it would be a perfect way to introduce Blade.

Something still tells me Marvel Studios wouldn't go for it. There are no rumors of Mahershila Ali being in Morbius, I guess they could cast Jared Leto in the Blade film. This makes things even more interesting now.

Blade's mother was attacked by Deacon Frost (Doctor/Vampire) and Blade was born a human/vampire hybrid.

Vampires existed in the MCU far before Morbius.

Also the people in this thread shitting on it and calling Sony desperate are hilarious... this is a risky as hell movie proposition; but it's also a very original one compared to "let's introduce star-powered uber character #434302 to the MCU and also alternate dimensions wee".

Hmm...I have an issue with the cinematography, mainly. With both Venom films and, from the looks of it, this Morbius project, everything on screen looks rather cheap: The unflattering filters, the poor CGI integration, the flat lighting...

New trailer was informative.
Learned a lot about the character. Didn't care enough to look before.
Lots of mist. Use of People are Strange was... ok.
Doesn't seem anything like Eternals/F&TWS direction of Marvel in tone; Sony going with a different fidelity.

It turned me around on the movie as someone that automatically looked unfavourably on anything with Leto in it for awhile.
Provocative references to Marvel threads. On the active radar now and right away watch list.

Just read the script leak for this movie, sounds fucking rad and it sounds like this movie is being used by MCU for introduction of vampires through .....some kind of ritual/magic which connects to what MCU is doing currently with Wandavision/noway home/Multiverse of madness.

These movies are setting up Marvel Mystical, dark universe. Blade is way out, but also moonknight is being produced right now and that has a lot to do with magic/mystical stuff with gods enchantments.

Morbius sounds fucking fun as fuck. ALso.......the whole trailer showing the Raimi spiderman poster with Murderer on it, is a ruse, according to leak it's MCU spiderman in final film. Similar to hulk in infinity war trailer, this is another one.

Visually it really should have looked like The Crow with Dario Argento flashes of color. Aside from that and some bad casting it looks OK. I mean it looks exactly like the by-the-numbers Hollywood adaptation of Morbius that it is.

I'm going to go on a bit of a tangent here, but I saw here in the UK recently the original Blade movie in the cinemas, and me and my brother were talking about how Marvel just wouldn't dare to make a movie, and it would be sanatized to hell. That movie holds up still and it's from 1998.

Which got us thinking, Marvel needs to do either a separate branding because I think a lot of people will be unhappy if Marvel would go: Deadpool 3 - PG 13

There are some rumours that the Daredevil TV Show reboot , and The Punisher reboot might not be as a violent as the Netflix version, and I went: Then whats the fucking point. I get that they want to maximize profit, but they'll just end up either alienating or pissing off people. Let There Be Carnage should have been a full blown R Rated movie. At least Morbius kinda looks neat, but that ain't R rated either.

Gimme GUTS AND GORE Disney, stop being a chicken.

I’m not a Jared Leto hater, and thought he was fine in BR2049, but this looks like absolute shit. Even compared to Venom.

Many “Whelps”! Handle It!
Why does it seem like in every single role Leto is attempting to come of as pretentious? Is it just me, being too hard on him?

That was good. Even without much blood effect it was still menacing. Reminded me of Joker(Dark Knight) scenes that way. Red light and some blood smear on the floor. The black splatter on the camera was funny on reveiw but worked well quickly in the moment. Wonder how much they're going to use that.

Got an idea of the level of gore, hoping for a little more.

Didn’t Morbius in the comics have weird buttholes in his hands that he used to suck blood?

That was the 90s Spidey cartoon

Fox feared him being a legit vampire and sucking blood was too grotesque, so he stole their energy with his hands instead
